Wait, lets analyse that statement?

Isnt that what you want to do? I mean as a Cowboys fan I would take every year being a contender instead of a middle of the road team.
Of course that’s what you want to do, but is he walking away with the AFC East every year without Tom Brady? Probably not.
Really so who is going to beat him in the AFC east?
Miami
Jets
or
Buffalo

Really?

I like how BB runs the organization, he is a coach but he runs it like a business. I hate the Pats but admire the fuck out of them.
I’m not just talking about 2012/2013.

Belichick has been the coach of the Patriots since 2000. He has had one losing season, in that first year, without Brady. He has failed to win the division three times, once with Brady in 2003, and twice without Brady in 2000 and 2008. He has won the division 10 out of 13 seasons he’s been head coach, and 10 out of 11 seasons he’s had Tom Brady as his starting QB.

From the limited evidence I have, it looks like BB is not winning division titles when Tom Brady isn’t around. Even with piss poor competition.

He is now on the Chargers. I don’t think he will do as well because the Pats were a good fit for him.

haha. Got to be kidding me. Bronco fans everywhere must be tossing shit around the office right now.

He will do great for the chargers, he still will catch a ton of passes, and Ryan Mathews will get hurt and he will be the man while hes gone. He is going to see alot of run.

I really like the Goodson signing for my lowly jets, and even Willie Colon isnt a bad signing for a year.

Your argument is weak, just like your favourite team. You’re saying Belichick is an overrated coach because he’s been protected by Tom Brady. How else are we supposed to judge coaches if not off their success with the team they take out to the field? Based on wins in the past 10 or so years the Partiots, and hence Belichick, have been the most successful in the NFL.

Look at other elite quarterbacks who are still around that came into the league with Brady. I’m thinking of Peyton Manning and Drew Brees. Those guys and their respective teams have only won one Superbowl each. They’re also not as consistently excellent as the Patriots have been over the same given 10 year period. You therefore have to conclude that 1) Tom Brady is so much better than Manning and Brees and/or 2) the Patriots have been the best run team in the league for the past 10 or so years, which means Belichick has been the best coach. I don’t think 1) is true, even though Brady is probably better than Manning and Brees, the margin isn’t big enough to absorb the loss in productivity from roster changes and the inherent difficulty in maintaining top position in a volatile league. Basically, even though Brady has probably been the best QB in the league, there’s no way he’s been able to keep the Patriots as consistently good as they have been; not in such a team-oriented game. Football is different to basketball where you can have a superstar like Michael Jordan or LeBron carry an entire team by themselves. But even NBA superstar filled teams have had a hard time staying on top for over 5 years, and in LeBron’s case not even winning a championship until he had more talent. More basketball evidence is Kobe Bryant, who has won championships when he had at least one more future Hall of Famer. Michael Jordan was able to captain the Bulls to dominance throughout the 90s and win much more than the Patriots but he’s the best ever. Brady could be the best ever, you could make a case for him based on his numbers, but he’s ultimately helming one position, even if it’s the most important, on an 11 man offensive roster.

The closest NBA equivalent to the Patriots, or vice versa, is the San Antonio Spurs. And guess what, the Spurs don’t just have one guy who’s on the top 10 for most jersey sales every year, they win because they play as a team. Winning is hard in any professional sports league, for an organisation to consistently be winning for over 10 years requires the roster in every one of those years to be compatible, and compatibility is one of the important focuses of management, which, surprise surprise, includes the coach. The team’s manager may be responsible for bringing in new talent and maintaining good contractual relations with current talent (so they remain happy in the team going into the future) but the coach is the guy on the ground moulding the talent in a specific framework so they can play together and win.

Based on the above argument, I say Belichick is the best coach in the NFL. Judge him on the most important metric: wins.

Maybe. They resigned Ronnie Brown for another year and he was the primary 3rd down back and pass catcher last year. They also signed some dude from Arizona. They now have four RBs and I thought they would probably draft one too. There is no way they keep all these guys when the season starts. But yes, Woodhead, could be beneficial, haha.

Jennings to the Vikings. Great move for them. Talented player without that sorry attitude. I guess money was the most important thing to him. Luckily we have 3 solid WRs and a TE. Montee Ball ftw now.

Alright, now we are cooking. Offered Sanders a deal, good move. Talib takes a one year deal which is huge, because it means he will try hard to get a bigger pay day next year, and Abraham may be in the mix.

I can get behind these moves by the Pats.

A la Laron Landry

Brandon Myers signs with Giants, it will turn out to be a very underrated move, the guy had an excellent year last year, and Eli will make him more of a weapon. He will definitley be more consistent then Bennett who was maddening at times last year.

Brandon LLoyd…cutski, very surprised he didnt work out, maybe he is a mental case. Hey maybe he will sign with the Jets

I don’t believe that deal was done yet when I posted, and I didn’t think it would get done, to be honest.

I’m pretty much okay with it. He won’t be an every down player, but no safety in a BB system is the last 4-5 years.

When Belichick doesn’t have Tom Brady under center, he usually doesn’t make the playoffs. That’s not even an argument; it’s a fact. His teams have made ONE playoff appearance without Tom Brady as the QB (94 Browns).

Belichick has had very limited success without Tom Brady, but a ton of it with him.

Well they went what 11-5 or 10-6 and barely missed the playoffs with Mat Cassell who has done what where else?
