I can’t stand Bellichick, but I actually think it was a good call. Fourth and short. No one in their right mind would go. Your offense lines up. Colts are thinking run out the clock/draw them offsides. Instead, you go for a quick snap. The ONLY and I mean ONLY problem was not running the ball on a toss sweep. If he’d gotten the first down and sealed the game, everyone would think he’s a genius.
When Manning is throwing bombs like that, what difference does 30-40 yards make? (Assuming a punt resulting in Colts having 1st and 10 from their own 30 or 40 yd. line.

How about electing to kick the ball in overtime?
Or calling a running play – that gets fumbled – when there’s only 20 seconds left in a game you’re winning and the opposing team is out of timeouts?
There have been plenty of stupid calls in the NFL over the years.
I didn’t see the game, so I don’t know the context of the play. I will say it sounds pretty damn stupid on paper, but if it works, he just adds to his “genius” title.
I still would have thought it was a stupid call even if they got the first down. Manning had already thrown 2 picks in the game from bad throws. What if they punted and the punter hit a booming punt inside the 10 yard line? Either way you have to play the percentages and punt it away. This isn’t Madden where you never punt no matter where you are.
How about them Chargers!! Back in a tie for first place with a showdown in Denver next week.
Special teams play killed my Stillers…again. Do they not teach tackling to kickers in practice. Seven games in a row they have given up a touchdown on a pick-six or a punt/kickoff return. No mojo this year at all. They should make the playoffs but they just don’t have the x-factor this year. All the breaks went their way last year. Hope I’m wrong.

The more I think about it, the more I am starting to agree with you.
I mean I knew you were right, that it was a full retard choice, but I saw why he did it. The more I think about it, the more it was just straight fucking stupid.

That punt block might spark the jets, and the pats keep handing to Mal-butterfingers-rooney. It’s not over at all.

LOL, it feels like it was a lot closer than the score thou. Then again I can’t fucking stand Jet fans. Giant fans and Yankee fans aren’t nearly as annoying.
One team I love to see lose, the Jets. But that Revis kid is fucking good at what he does. Damn good corner.

I like the Jets. Sanchez will be good if he keeps working hard. I like him.
Draft another running back to take Thomas Jone’s place and things will be good.

They have a good defense. Dirty Sanchez should be good, yeah.
