I only caught the very beginning and the tail end of the ATL-NE game due to Breaking Bad so I must have missed the “suck” of ATL. I thought the ending was pretty awesome though.
Skins game was rough to watch. RG3 looks like he is getting more comfortable but damn if he wasn’t off on his throws. It annoyed me how the announcers kept touting how the defense was finally playing well. Sorry, it is the Raiders. It’s nice to see but let’s not go and get ourselves worked up about the D.
It was the worst of times and the best of times and the a sputter at the end. The 4Q rally was impressive but too little too late.
Like I said before it’s a problem with 3’s. The Saints are raging right now, but it’s a long season and the Falcons are depleted as hell with injuries. But the Packers went through this and they won the SB. So all is not lost, but it better turn around soon. There is still a lot of season left, I am not piling dirt on them just yet. If we run the table, we will have the same record as last year. I am not expecting that necessarily, but there is no reason we cannot win most games from here on out. It’s just time to get to work. It seems we like our back against the wall.
We need to get Asante, Jackson, and Roddy healthy fast. Roddy played, but he is not anywhere normal.
The injuries are killing us, but our red zone performance can be much better. Keep in mind injuries can happen to anybody and it takes one big one to kill a team. So we shall see.
Until Smitty learns to coach with some fire and confidence I’m afraid Atlanta will never live up to the talent level.
I dont understand why he gets so much credit as a coach for consistantly taking one of the most talented teams in the NFC, which plays in what has really been a 2 team division, and falling short each year to inferior teams in the playoffs.
He keeps getting the credit that the GM should get for the teams regular season success yet somehow hasnt taking more shit for his post seasons misgivings.

Well that’s really a tough call. He has done a lot for this team and this city, but yeah he is a little to conservative for my taste. But when some people call for his head my reaction is, ‘And replace him with whom?’. We are not a rebuilding team, all the top coaches are taken, anything else would be an experiment.
He knows what’s wrong. He was surprisingly candid at the post game press conference and he said everything is one the table, particularly with the red zone issues. They said they are going to look at everything, player placement, schemes, play calling, coverage assignments, everything. So I am glad the team is looking at all that. I think Matt Ryan needs to show his meddle now.
The injuries are killing us, though. We started 4 rookies on defense. They are talented, but they don’t have the experience. I would say injuries are the biggest problem we face. Had we had Stephen Jackson and Asante we would have probably won the last two games, at least the Miami game.
No Smith isn’t perfect, but Lombardi isn’t rising from the dead to coach the Falcons anytime soon so we have to fix what we have with who we have.
