Well that makes it OK to be a classless jerk off I guess.
Did he get arrested for DUI? Get caught on the Love Boat (shout out to Fred Smoot)? Beat up his GF?

When Sherman was pictured talking smack to Tom Brady after a game a while back (“you mad bro”) he got the same public reactions. Then it came out how Brady has a reputation for talking trash when the cameras are off and said some stuff to Sherman and some other Seahawks during a time-out or pre-game or something. I’m a huge Patriots and specifically Tom Brady fan but I have no problem digesting these character allegations against Brady, and can say they don’t change my opinion of him even a little.

Sherman was emotional after the game and said some shit he had on his chest. We don’t know the back story. He’s since apologised from being so brazen on live TV and taking attention away from his team. Apparently he’s been inundated with derogatory comments and veiled threats ever since, which only shows the hypocrisy of a lot people.

I actually like Sherman and I sometimes wish more NFL players would speak their mind like that. AS I’m sure lots of trash talking goes on in the game. I just hate that everyone makes the biggest deal out of it and feels a need to say well he was in college and is really smart, so he’s not just a dumb football player.

Since when have American pro sports juxtaposed well with “class” anyway?

Yeah the fans and players are allowed to talk shit BEFORE the game but aren’t “allowed” to give smack and show emotion after, when adrenaline is at its highest? Ignorance of the human condition.

But the argument isn’t about dumb football players, it’s about painting a full picture of the man.

Regardless, his educational and extra-curricular credentials are something that should be lauded and more openly celebrated. That goes for all athletes and people in general.

Yeah I agree, just wait and see how many players in the off season get arrested. Or how everyone made the biggest deal about Vick being associated with dog fighting but Donte Stallworth killed a guy why drunk driving ( correct me if I’m wrong ) and the dog fighting was this huge deal when this other stuff goes almost un noticed.

I don’t care about all the stuff, I still think he’s an ass. If the talking gets him fired up then good for him.

I know a lot of people don’t like Rivers because he is always talking trash during the game, well PG rated trash talking. Never heard him do it in an interview though or others like him. They always give respect to their opponents afterwards.

So what’s this I hear about possibly moving the SB to a Sat because of weather, is this a real thing?

I’m torn on the weather issue.

I’d like to see Peyton win, but at the same time i want to see a blizzard and 1’ of snow. If it’s a blizzard the hawks are winning and it wont be close.

I want perfect weather and for Seattle to win so no one can make excuses as to why Denver lost.

It shouldn’t be an excuse. Denver is in Colorado and plays in an outside stadium…would Elway have been able to use that excuse? No.

People who will be making the excuses are the apologetics that still try to say “don’t pay attention to the 1 ring, it’s not his fault”

So it’s a snow bowl and Peyton Manning plays poorly I bet you the next day all over ESPN and sports talk radio they make excuses and to why they lost.

So guess it’s only going to snow on half the field and only while Denver has the ball?

Scary to think who the Bills will replace Pettine with. Probably just slap a whistle on some hobo from the dumpster out back. Fuck I hate being a Bills fan.
What’s sad is that the Bills are my second team, and the Browns somehow managed to fuck their team up while still having time to continue the great tradition of 4-12
Bills hired Jim Schwartz to be their new dc. Might not be so bad. They also picked up his QB coach which is something they were lacking this year… They probably could have found someone better to work with EJ, but atleast they got somebody.

Come on DB. If Crabtree is healthy, Crabtree -Boldin-Davis is as good as 90% of the league. Hell, Boldin-Davis with check downs to Gore or Hunter is still better than most. It is better than Nelson-Jones-Boykin, Smith-Lafell-Olsen, Dobson-Thompkins-Vereen or Tate-Baldwin-Miller (Good God, why doesn’t Seattle get a receiver).
Also, Gore is done. Each year the last few years people keep saying, “Oh, this is it for Gore, he’s definitely on the way down.” I think this is the first year that those people will actually be right. He just looked slow and without the same burst after contact that he’s had the last couple years, and truth be told, everyone who has been saying that the Niners had a great run game hadn’t been watching the last 5-6 games they played. Gore didn’t do much at all.

Hunter hasn’t looked anything like his old self since his Achilles injury last year. They’re better off shitcanning him and using LaMichael James and Anthony Dixon as their 3rd and 4th backs since they can both play special teams well.

Marcus Lattimore is the make-or-break guy for the Niners next year. I expect there to be some significant upgrades across the board on offense next year, but if they can keep Gore fresh by spelling him with a legit 5 YPC type of back in Lattimore, they’re going to be a nightmare for defenses next year. One of the things that really hampered their offense this year is the fact that they simply did not run the ball efficiently at all this year, outside of Kaepernick. There were long stretches where they couldn’t get anything going on the ground at all early in the game and just abandoned the whole thing entirely. They’d do that for two games and then when they finally decided, hey we better stick with the run longer and get better at it earlier, they’d have some fucking creampuff like Jacksonville on the schedule, go apeshit for like 185 total rushing yards and everyone would think they had a dominant running game. But they weren’t dominant against anyone of any real stature.
I agree with you about Gore, he is going down but I still think he is in the upper half of the league as far as starting backs. The biggest problem with Gore is he has always seemed to be a back that required a few carries to get in the groove and was actually better between his 10th and 20th carry than his first 10, and now that he is getting a little age on him his body is letting him down during what used to be his sweet spot.

And to Davis, with the state of TE’s in the league this year, it is fairly easy to make the case that he was a top 5 TE. You’ve got Graham and Thomas ahead of him and after that you could argue that he should be 3rd. I cant really think of one that would be ahead of him.
The problem with Gore is that he is a MORON. He can run like hell, but he is stupid as mule shit. I will be excited to watch Lattimore play even though he is a 49er. He was amazing with the Gamecocks, I have no doubt he will excel in the NFL. The frightening thing is now SF will have a dominant running back who is not a moron.
Obviously you don’t know anything about Frank Gore other than what his Wonderlic score 10 years ago was. Gore is probably the smartest non-QB in the division, in terms of football intelligence. I have NEVER heard anyone say that a play that Gore made was stupid. But I have heard MANY, MANY people who have played with and against him say that he is the smartest football player they’ve ever played with/against.

Nice try at trolling, though. Unfortunately, you made yourself look like a bitter Falcons fan once again.
Gettnitdone wrote:
And he does a lot of charity work.
They all do a lot of charity work. We don’t hear about it all the time, because not everyone in the league is an egomaniac, like Russell Wilson, who feels the need to publicize the shit out of their charity work on their Instagram pages.

Players like Kaepernick don’t publicize any of it because they understand the addage, “Do not shout your righteousness for other to hear, for you do so against the will of thy Father.”

Why should all of his educational accomplishments be celebrated? It’s a pretty low standard one has set if we need to celebrate someone for going to school and getting good grades. Sure, Stanford is a great school and it’s a great accomplishment, and his extracurricular activities are something to be proud of.

But the fact is that he’s blown a large part of those opportunities if he still hasn’t learned something as basic as treating people with respect and acting like a positive role model for others. Regardless of how you feel about his antics, I doubt there are a whole helluva lot of people who would feel proud if that was THEIR son making a fool of themselves.

And I don’t get this idea that we shouldn’t criticize him for something that happened on the football field, that what he does on the field isn’t representative at all of the person he is. That is total BULLSHIT. Where else in life do we discount the actions of a person just because they’re at work?

All I’m saying is that there are far worse things out there then talking some smack after a game when you’re emotional because your adrenaline is through the roof from making a game-winning play. Add in built-up anger stemming from who-knows-what for the guy you made the play against and down-right can claim you beat.

If you listen to the millions of interviews he’s been doing you know he’s a cool guy, and he regrets coming off disrespectful – he was caught in the moment. He certainly doesn’t deserve the derogatory comments thrown his way from hypocrite fans.

I don’t think he deserves to be called a thug, but nothing in his subsequent press conferences suggests that he is genuinely contrite about his actions. The whole “in-the-heat-of-the-moment” aspect has no legitimacy. There are TONS of players who make big plays, and none of them go to nearly the extent that Sherman did. Steve Young had a long, painful history against both the Cowboys and the Packers, and not once did he denigrate any of those players when he finally beat them.

Listen to/read Sherman’s comments. He regrets being perceived as disrespectful; he does NOT regret the actions that led to this perception. He said it himself; he’s disappointed that people have put the focus on this that they have. That’s a pretty shallow form of regret. I don’t think for one second that he understands his part in all of this, which is by far the largest part.

The real sad thing is that I feel sorry for Seahawks fans. As sorry as a Niners fan can feel for them, anyways. That game was BY FAR the biggest victory in the history of the franchise, and I don’t think that any other victory comes close, considering that they’ve won a grand total of two conference championships. It was also one helluva game, period. It was football at its finest, and all anyone is talking about is Richard Sherman. And he thinks that it is the media’s fault that the large majority of the national discourse has focused on him and not the game. Well, when you turn the franchise’s biggest moment into an opportunity to denigrate your opponent and rub his face in defeat, rather than celebrate a huge moment in Seattle Seahawks history with your teammates, you run that risk. So I don’t buy any of this Sherman/apology/regret bullshit for one second.

I’m just glad that the shelf life for high-quality cornerbacks tends to be pretty short. In another two or three years, he’ll just be another jerk who is so grandiose he thinks that going from Compton to Stanford entitles him to all sorts of classless behavior without reproach.

Also confused by the Gore = MORON claim.

In addition to running with vision and patience, three-down feature backs (ie. Gore in his prime) must have entire playbook and blitz pickups – both before and after audibles – absolutely down cold.

I guess constantly running out-of-bounds in ‘keep the clock moving’ situations would be moronic for RB but I kinda doubt Gore’s been guilty of that.
