On (what turned out to be) the final play of the game, why did SF go for a relatively high-risk pass play, when they had 45 sec on the clock and a couple of timeouts in hand? Why not a couple of running plays to get into the red zone and burn up some clock?

Kapernick shooting his wad a little too early, and not having situational awareness. He either has to throw the ball better, or not throw it at all.
I read something about it, and that is a piss poor showing by that fan. His/her tickets should be striped for a year.
Yeah, well, you don’t see that shit at Candlestick Park. The worst I’ve ever seen is a half-hearted attempt at the wave while an injured opponent was on the ground. Most of the stadium shouted down the wave thing and in my section, it was only the opposing team’s fans (what few there were) who were participating in it.
This is the kind of shit that makes this loss easier to handle. I feel no animosity toward a fanbase and a team that is wholly without class or respect for the game or its players. I don’t feel anger toward a person who accidentally shits on my living room floor, only sorrow. Jjackrash is the lone exception. I KNOW he has zero class, but that’s because he’s a Chico State man, and none of us have class.
Yeah, 9ers fans are all class:
lol

Hey, there are all sorts of idiots at Niners games. Back when they played at Kezar in the 1960’s the fans were known for throwing beer bottles at THEIR OWN PLAYERS when they were losing. Hunter S. Thompson once said that a game at Kezar made a Raiders game look like a trip to Disneyland.
But that was decades ago. As classless as many Niners fans are, I have NEVER seen them cheer and throw shit at an injured player. And the path from the sidelines to the visitors locker room provides PLENTY of opportunity to do so. I sit right in that area and have attended something like 150 games there. Not once seen anything like that.
Here’s a perfect example of the type of classless that the bad Niners fans are: Almost every game I’ve been to the last 5-8 years, I’ve seen at least one fight in the stands between two Niners fans. We fucking fight each other in the stands! Admittedly, that same element can be pretty rough on the opposing fans. But that is an element that has only been around since they started sucking cock back around 2003 or so. It’s slowly been weeded out the last couple years a little bit, but I expect the move to the new, much more expensive stadium (I think the Niners were amongst the 5 cheapest tickets in the NFL this year) to almost eliminate that aspect.
But I’ll admit, I guess us Niners fans aren’t the model citizens we’d all like to think we are, especially given the stabbing thing a couple years ago. However, you’ll notice that that particular incident involved a Raiders fan. Those loonies seem to always be around when shit goes down.
I remember when I was still just a kid I was at a game against the Cowboys in 1994 and there were motherfuckers rolling down the aisles swinging and punching and kicking and all sorts of crazy shit all over the stadium. Cops everywhere, total mayhem in the upper deck. Classic Candlestick atmosphere between us and the fans of our biggest rival by far, the Cowboys. Fuck, I’m gonna miss the 'Stick. That last game this year was absolute pandemonium. Never heard it louder in my life, not at any playoff games, none of the Championship Games there either.
Something seems wrong with having a kicker take up a roster spot and then have him do even less work than he does now. I also think extra points are a little like speed work/practice for a kicker and help keep them sharp for the kicks that count. And they do get blocked every once in a blue moon.

In all fairness to the other NFL teams, the 49ers are the only team with the Raiders right across the bay to suck away all the depraved types. That does leave candlestick filled with a bunch of elitist pricks though.

My impression during the whole 2nd half is that Kap had his mind made up where he was throwing it on every passing play. If coverage was there he wasn’t checking off to look for 2nd & 3rd receivers.

Yeah, we do have some elitist fucking assholes. It seems that the last couple years the dynamics of the crowd have slowly changed over the course of each season. Early in the year, there’s more loonies, then the elite motherfuckers who only show up for the “big” games start coming back instead of selling their September-November tickets on StubHub. They’re still part of the legit Faithful, but it’s as if these fuckers can’t be bothered with actually going to the games unless it’s a primetime game or there are serious and immediate playoff implications.

I don’t think he can or wants to, he looks at his first guy and either throws or runs.

That’s been my impression all year. I admit, he hasn’t made the improvements in the pocket game that I expected him to. For most of the year, I think it had more to do with the fact that no one other than his first read literally EVER got open (other than Davis, who I don’t think he likes to throw to since Davis lets about 2 throws a game clank right off his fucking facemask or his chest.). But once Crabtree came back, he still seemed to show intermittent improvement in that area. I thought he looked much better in that respect against Green Bay and Carolina.
I expect the Niners to get more weapons around him next year, and then he won’t have any excuses. Gore looks pretty much done, or at least a true part-time back. Lattimore is pretty much already 100% and ready to go, so I think we could see a 50-50 split of carries if Lattimore is close to what he was prior to his injury last year. He was a legit top-10 back beforehand.
I’d like to see them use some of their 6 picks in the first 3 rounds to move up and go after Mike Evans. I think he’s exactly the type of receiver they need, not a speedster like most people say. Evans looks capable of beating a guy like Sherman all day, and he excels on broken plays like what Manziel created a lot of. Kaepernick does a lot of the same stuff. But the fact that he is big enough and has shown the ability to consistently beat good press-man coverage (and can still outleap any bigger DB when he doesn’t beat them) makes him a perfect antidote for the type of corners that Seattle likes.
When you’re read progression goes from guys like Thomas to Welker to Decker to Thomas or Jones to White to Gonzalez, it’s easy to look like a good progression-reading QB. Not like when you’re going from Boldin to Marlon Moore to Quinton Patton to Davis who then lets it hit him in the facemask 1 out of every 5 throws.
That being said, he should have looked better than he did over the course of the last six or seven games, even though he did make a marked improvement over earlier in the year without Crabtree.

I agree you folks need a receiver. When you try Sherman with a sorry receiver like Crabtree, that’s the result you are going to get. And Don’t you ever talk about Sherman.
Come on DB. If Crabtree is healthy, Crabtree -Boldin-Davis is as good as 90% of the league. Hell, Boldin-Davis with check downs to Gore or Hunter is still better than most. It is better than Nelson-Jones-Boykin, Smith-Lafell-Olsen, Dobson-Thompkins-Vereen or Tate-Baldwin-Miller (Good God, why doesn’t Seattle get a receiver).
turnovers were obviously the killer, Kap just had a bad day throwing. Was unusual. I was anticipating him putting on a running clinic at the end as per usual. The officiating was slightly in favour of the home team as well. You can’t control that though. I think the refs have inclination’s towards the home team so they don’t get booed all the time(subconsciously)

Yeah, that was a cringe worthy play. And the fact that the ref’s did not give SF the ball after that was a travesty of reffing. If Seattle had scored on that, it would have mirred the win with controversy. So fortunately, they gave up the ball on the next play. It was the best thing to happen in light of the fact that Bowmen gave up his knee for the ball and didn’t get it.
I don’t think Kapernick looks off the safety as well as he should, and at this level, these defensive backs can recover to make the play even if they’re out of position.
I recall a pass in the Denver-NE game, where Manning threw a deep ball to his receiver who had his guy beat by 2 steps. But Manning ended up overthrowing him. Some people see this as a bad throw, but Manning made sure it was not a horrible throw by making sure the NE guy couldn’t intercept it. Sometimes the winning throw is throwing it away. This is what Kapernick needs to learn.
I am starting to lean more on Harbaugh for this at this point, because Kapernick (for as long as he has been playing) has used his legs as his main weapon, rather than his backup weapon. The threat of his legs is enough to keep a defensive front 7 honest.
This game is 90% mental, and I mean cerebral. This is chess on a football field. If Kapernick doesn’t learn this on his own or by a coach, he will end up like just another has-been who could run but didn’t amount to shit in the long run, along the lines of Vince Young.

Woohoo SF lost! Seattle was clearly the better team. I thought that from the start.
Still living vicariously through the accomplishments of other teams, eh? I would expect nothing less from a fan of a team whose past and present is as pathetic and innocuous as the Falcons.
While Seattle was the winner, only a troll would suggest that they were clearly the better team. I’m not a Seahawks fan, so I’m not going to bitch and moan for the next 8 years about the myriad bad calls that went against the Niners. They had opportunities of their own and they didn’t take advantage of them. The Seagulls had opportunities and they DID take advantage of them. No one mentions the bad call on the punt if the Niners don’t give up a 35-yard TD on 4th and 7.
But despite the missed opportunities, they were one play away from winning in the toughest place to play in the NFL. That is all that separates these two teams: one play. It’s a great rivalry between two hard-nosed football teams that play the way you’re supposed to play. The NFL is a better product because of these two teams. Enjoy it from afar, because the Falcons will NEVER be part of something like this. They were fucking ragdoll laughingstocks when they were the Niners’ “rival” in the old NFC West. They’re well on their way to becoming the same thing in their current division.
I think they have too. It was ridiculous. As much as I wanted Seattle to win I didn’t want them to win, that way and fortunately they didn’t.

I think it’s fair to say that ALL teams have some fans who are assholes. You aren’t going to escape that with such a vast group of people and mixing in alcohol, so the point is moot. Assholes live everywhere. Hey in Europe and S. America they murder people, including players over Soccer. By comparison we’re civilized.
