NFL 2012

Overall very disappointing MNF win. For some reason or another we seem to struggle with the Chiefs here lately. Waiting to hear the results of Big Ben’s injury. One of the worst possible times for this to happen.

To be fair, Griffin’s lack of receiving help is muddying the waters of comparison.

Also, using (obviously) different criteria, I would call Marino “the perfect QB” as well.
The perfect QB? C’mon! He didn’t win any rings. Like it or not, the nature of the game is to win rings.

There’s Montana and there’s everybody else.
Then I’ll counter with the claim that its simply too much of a team game for the ‘ring(s) argument’ to be decisive for any one particular position.

Of course QB is the most meaningful, individual position but 11-on-11 still leaves too much up to everyone else.

(And I won’t even mention the inherent arbitrariness(?) that judgement calls and that oblong spheroid itself necessarily create, won’t do it)
Agreed. To say that Marino cant be the “perfect” quarterback because he doesnt have any rings is pretty weak. The man was loaded with talent and had one of the quickest arms Ive ever seen(Rodgers has that similarity).
And for 98% of his career Marino was surrounded with little talent, no running game and poor defense.

Although I do think in the year when he went down injured and Scott Mitchell stepped in that was one of the few years they were loaded with talent

I really thought the Chiefs were gonna pull this one out. The damn, “tuck rule,” came into play again. It looked to me like what’s his nuts was pump faking not throwing the ball, but I see it going the way it did. That’s the Chiefs for you though. They lose 6 pts and still get the group celebration penalty.

If Ben is out for any length of time, sadly, the most valuable player on the team is now the kicker.

Also,If there was an over/under on how many times the NFL Network will show Big Bens injury in the next 24 hours, I would set it at roughly 150 times.

I’ll take the over on that one!

The thing that always amazed me about Aikman was the fact that he didn’t use the laces for grip. This picture you chose DJ shows it perfectly. Fucking guy must have the hands of a stone mason. Not sure if he was a farm boy or not.
Was watching some show when I was like 10 where Aikmen was on a basketball court and was throwing the football through the rim FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COURT. Don’t remember what show, or even how many he hit, but just one is nuts. As cool as it was then, it’s 10x more impressive to me now. That dude was no joke.

I did too, but it just seems that they cannot play for 60 minutes.

Props to KC. They could have rolled over but they hung in there against a (kinda) potent defense. I liked (some of) the running game. #25 gets beasty with quick first steps, but Hillis needs to lose the fucking piano and that gol dang Bane facemask.

I didn’t like the injury Ike suffered on that pass play last night. Looked spooky. Leftwich has proven to be serviceable and hate all you want but that guy looks good when he throws the ball. It’s pretty to watch.

And Charlie Batch better get off his ass and get ready. Troy too. Nothing sucks worse than seeing guys that need to be dressed wearing a beanie and a hoody with a look on their face like “jeez it’s chilly tonight!”

This is Pitts playoff berth to lose, they better start realizing it.

Sorry guys I always track and am a fan of the Steelers. They draft guys from the B1G a lot and have two Michigan linebackers on staff, so it’s a given.

I must say I HATE ESPN’s coverage of MNF. They have the worst announcers in history.

Can’t argue that, Pat.

Couple that with Jaworski still being on ESPN Radio saying things like “Houston going into Chicago and winning proves to me that THEY ARE a team that can win on the road!!” and it’s a perfect recipe for me not consuming ESPN content really at all any more.

Atleast his potential rape victims know where to hit him now. scumbag

terico(sp) can go but gruden’s ok, better than collinsworth imo. thurs night guys on nfl network aren’t a good listen. maybe some network needs to contact dennis miller & bring him back

Enjoyed this rant (on the topic of NFL survivor pools) by Rotowire’s Chris Liss:

"To have feats of greatness that align with your moral, spiritual and economic interests invalidated due to meaningless technicalities is particularly hard to take. It’s not merely about this one game, this one possible payout, but all of the many injustices, iniquities and cruel whims to which one is subjected in life that it brings up…

…The Monday night game was arguably even worse as the calls in the 49ers-Rams were at least technically legit. A phantom hold on Dwayne Bowe’s touchdown catch, and an egregious offensive PI on Tony Moeaki that wound up being moot were just a couple Super Bowl XL-like Steeler-favorable rulings that should shock the conscience of all but the most hard-hearted among us. And the way it ended ? with a “here you go, take the win” interception ? was a vulgar mockery of my emotional investment in the game."

Terrico is mailing it in a bit this year. In his younger days calling college games he was a fucking thunderbolt in comparison to what he is now.

He’s good overall though. I like him. Not sure if you guys watch golf but he’s a solid announcer for those events as well.

I really like Gruden a lot too. As a coach he was a single minded manic presence, and on MNF I’m sure they have to tone him down a ton. I think the Gruden/Terrico duo doesn’t mesh that well. Terrico is a pro. Gruden is a former coach that seems like he drank three redbulls, was told he couldn’t chew gum and let loose on the mic.

As the seasons go by Gruden is becoming a character and I wonder if he’s playing to that element on-air. It’s like he watched Kurt Russel in “Miracle” and decided to be like that guy, complete with the deep mid-western accent (I can’t tell if it’s Chicago, Wisconsin, or Mid-Michigan, but yeah).

This Monday night I want us all to try something. Every time Chucky goes into a few sentences about Harbaugh or Urlacher, imagine him chomping on gum and hitching up his plaid pants and adjusting his tie.

It’ll make it more fun. I promise.

Anybody notice that the Jets absolutely blow?
And what about those chickenshit players ‘anonymously’ saying Tebow sucks? I guess they failed to notice that Sanchez is horrible. I mean his completion percentage is 40%, but yeah it’s the backup QB who is the problem, not that the whole team sucks asshole. Ryan may be the dumbest coach in the NFL.
On NFL network, they put his avatar up as a clown…Now that’s funny.

Really? It’s not like theyre on espin every 5 min…

The Browns needed OT to finally lose to the cowboys. Jerry jones needs to send a thank you to the refs after that game. Blatant false start not called, and the 15yrd penalty on TJ ward bullshit. Draft picks…

Most QBs completion percentage would be 40% when you have the following…

-Crap offensive line (except mangold)
-No running game (Bilal Powell, Lex Hilliard, Shonn Greene )

 • No wide receivers (Chaz Schillens, Stephen Hill, Jeremy Kerley)

Not to mention an absolute joke of an OC in Sparano

Not too mention the Owner and Coaching staff undermining him by brining Teblow here.

Gotta look way beyond the numbers, I am obviously a big supporter of Sanchez, and feel he can be a good QB in this league and can win with him if you give some modicum of weapons to play with.

Other than having decent wide receivers last year, he still had to deal with a horrible O line and no running game and accounted for over 30 TDs.

The Jets absolutely suck , but Sanchez is the LEAST of their problems

He’ll look like a stud if he could play the Pats pass D every week.
