Watch the play again, Shields was grabbing the jersey with his left hand.

I’m tired of hearing about the goddamn replacement refs. Aaron Rodgers got sacked 8 times but he was bitching about the refs at the end of the game. Scott, Dilfer, and Young spend 20 minutes bitching about the calls, and then Stuart Scott goes “and the worst part about it is we aren’t even talking about the game.” Motherfucker, you could have been talking about the game but you’d rather beat the dead horse that is the replacement ref “controversy.”

I’m sure last year’s NFL thread contains people bitching about plenty of botched calls. The NFL introduced replay because refs were botching calls. It bothers me that every call that is even borderline is suddenly “destroying the fabric of the NFL.” These players and coaches are acting like children after every game because now there’s a scapegoat when you can’t close out a game. I just heard a commentator say “the NFL was a Mona Lisa, and now they’ve drawn a mustache on it.”

I hope that when the normal refs come back this level of scrutiny on officiating is maintained, because right now it seems like a bunch of crybabies bitching and moaning and looking for excuses.

Sorry guys, I’m just getting tired of this.
Moot point. “You want to lose with your best horse.”

I dare you to maintain your position when your team experiences the same robbery.
On the other hand, look at the way players, coaches and the media are responding. Apparently Packers players are dropping expletive-laden rants on twitter. Mike McCarthy and his team are such bad sports that they ran off the field without even playing the extra point. A ref had to go get them to finish up the game.
Well if you were a Packers player and you were robbed a win would you want to go out there and lineup for an extra point? I sure wouldn’t. I think they did it more of a protest to the officials, nothing personal against the Seahawks. McCarthy actually did well in his press conference. He said all the right things.

The last blatant game changing call that a referee messed up on that I can remember was the Jay Cutler forward pass. The Chargers vs. Broncos game where Ed Hochuli messed up the call and at least admitted he screwed up but could do nothing since he blew the whistle.

I would at least like to here the refs explanation for this call and why the one ref that signaled an interception was overruled.

Haha. I don’t know, looks like the back ref had a better view.

Nope, just no. I was probably the one who did complain about the refs previously, and i would’ve agreed with you after the first couple of weeks. But after this game and and a few others i’ve watched recently, but especially this game. I have to disagree. They missed two calls on the last play, and that was only one play. It’s when calls like the one at the end of the game are missed twice… That is the type of call they need to get right everytime, especially if they have a second chance with it. It’s calls like that that are in fact ruining the game.

I can understand maybe missing the call the first time, but the replay too! That’s a travesty, plain and simple.

On a side note,

Game has been going downhill for awhile now with all the stupid rules that are now enforced. Like the horsecollar tackle and all the roughing the passer and the big hits now being called penalties. I still watch game because it’s an awesome fucking game, but they’ve been ruining it for awhile now.

It’s a physical game, and they are attempting to take the physical part out of the game.
I do not give a damn about either of those teams but that was a terrible call, terrible.

Didnt sleep worth a shit last night. I hope for the fans and players sake that the NFL owners get off their ass and come to an agreement with the refs instead of being so damn greedy. They are reporting that the NFL will be holding a press conference today. Curious what they will have to say.

Haha, dude, it’s only a game. Maybe if you had money on the line or something it would bother you. You shouldn’t lose sleep over something like a football game.

That was a good pass interference call. Gruden thought it was a bad call. Like you said, you could easily see him grabbing his jersey.
It wasn’t.

You could call it incidental contact or maybe even makeup call after prior offensive-holding penalties but you cannot say defensive PI was good call there.

CB matches pace AND gets his head around, that’s just sound technique
Look at the replay, he is clearly grabbing Sidney Rice’s jersey. I would call that PI.

Between a pregnant, snoring wife and being a dramatic person, I sure didnt.

I actually did get some sleep but I was still pretty flustered. I was at a Buffalo Wild Wings and when a whole bar is in an uproar, it kinda rubs off on you. Plus, my adrenaline was high a few hours afterwards.

Btw, the official who called the catch a touchdown was fired by the Lingerie League.

Same. Even with sleepy meds, it took me like three hours to fall asleep. Do you know when the press conference is???

If the NFL wants to make right, reverse the call and award the Packers the win. Won’t be done of coure, cause that would open a shit can of worms.

SSC- I applaud you for not watching anymore. I would do the same if it would make a difference. But until fans get united and do it in masses it will be for nothing.

anyone arguing the replacmennt refs don’t suck, have no clue about football

I had the same problem actually, but the beers probably didn’t help.

Cris Carter says fans should rebel in some way. Shit is getting serious.

I just had a good buzz. It certainly added to the drama. If someone would of walked in right after the play, you would of thought that the President just banned football and porn. It was crazy.

and to those saying PI isn’t claled on plays like that. Sure, a little extra nudging may be allowed, but taht shit on Shields was blatantly going too far. How anyone could defend that is beyond me
