Its official. Fantastic. We may now have a mediocre running game this year. It will certainly keep the defense guessing. Now to fix the laughable coverage…
Great pickup for sure. He’s a solid runner, punishes defenders.

Too bad about Bishop.
He will no doubt be an upgrade but Im curious just how he will perform.
Ya its a huge pooper over Bishop. I guess the silver lining is this its not a high caliber CB like Collins last year. From the amount of players not practicing today, I question how well they take care of themselves during the off season. Disappointing.

I dont see anyone touching that. He was luck the Pats wanted him and super lucky the Fins gave interested. Im not sure if there is anyone desperate enough to deal with him.

I agree. There might be a chance someone takes a look at him during the season if they get hit with some injuries. Well depending on if he would be suspended at all. How old is the guy anyways?
I don’t know about you all, but if I was an NBA or NFL athlete and my wife wanted to be on a reality show, I’d say “Ok… We’re done here.” And kick her to the curb.
When are these players going to look at all this reality TV bullshit and realize it’s the wrong damn model to be successful? Terrel Owens, now Chad Johnson, etc etc etc. These guys gotta knock it off and focus on playing ball.
Anyways…
Jahvid Best is proving to be a bust for the Lions. It’s a shame, he showed flashes of greatness. But that concussion when he was still at CAL probably knocked three years off his life, not to mention his football career. He was an expensive risk. And the Lions are going to be too good this year to be in place to draft Montee Ball next year.
And how bout that Ryan Matthews for San Diego???
Broke his dang collarbone his first play of pre-season. He’s got at least 6 weeks before he’s back to normal, and his “normal” has been all kinds of lackluster in Norv’s offense. He’s not LT, and he’s a far cry from Emmitt Smith. SD has big big big problems this year, two of them are colored Silver and Black and the other two live in Denver. They (SD) could easily lose both of their matchups against division rivals and there’s no way they’ll sniff the playoffs. Maybe Norv will be done at that point and the team will re-tool.

I dont follow SD closely enough to have an indepth thought but I will say its a shitty time to be Norv. If they dont succeed in getting a 10-6 record or better, hes gone. I never thought all the blame fell on him but at some point you have to make a change to please the fans and jumpstart the franchise.
I have nothing against Norv. When it comes down to it he’s a finesse style coach with an incredibly sexy offence. Look back to the Cowboys and see what it could do when all the weapons were in place, including proper leadership from a head coach.
Right now though, SD is neutered. Their biggest champion of being tough and vocal is their QB. That’s an upside down situation in my book. Norvs’ QB needs to be a little headier and his lineman and defense needs to be the cold-blooded killers on the field. But instead he has guys like this freak show lookin’ like he came out of the hunger games at nose tackle.
That’s why San Fran is my new west coast team. Harbaugh puts football players on the field to play football. It’s a style I love to watch and I love that team right now.

Agreed. Maybe Norv will find himself back in Dallas after this year? Its a thought. The Harbaugh brothers are a different breed. They could shine on any team whether pro, college, or high school. My greatest fear last year was facing San Fran in the playoffs. But things turned out quite differently for both of us…
Speaking of Cowboys, how are you feeling after last night Derek? The O-line needs help desperately and the recieving squad is looking scary. The defense doesnt look too bad. Sensabaugh and Crunch looked good.

Yeah the Harbaughs are throwback guys.
Before Stanford, Jim was at University of San Diego and took a private catholic school from a gutter team to champions in two years. And? That was in 2006. It’s taken him 5 years to get the reigns of an NFL team and lead them to the conference championship. It’s incredible.

It is. Unless something drastic changes, I think he will be considered one of top 10 coaches for sure and possibly top 5. But thats when you look at his whole career.

So averaging just about 5 YPC last year in 14 games and having 50 receptions is lackluster. He had a great year last year and he will only miss the first or second week of the season. I already read on twitter that they are projecting week one, but we will see about that. Ronnie Brown, Le’Ron McClain, Jackie Battle, and Curtis Brinkley are his backups. Curtis Brinkley was on the team last year and has looked good in the preseason. Chargers have plenty of depth at RB.
Why the comparison to Emmitt Smith?? Is he like the standard for comparing all RBs?
As far as division games, no team is far better than the other. The division could be like last year where every team goes 3-3. Very competitive and remember P. Manning has a bad track record against the Chargers. I’m not saying the Chargers will win the division, it’s just nice that nobody is paying attention to them and all of the pressure is on the Broncos.
Go enjoy your new team the Niners. I will stick by my team even if they don’t win one game.
Here are my thoughts on the Chargers even bough I’m a 9ers man myself.
Norv and AJ Smith are done after this year. Unless they win their division and a playoff game hose two idiots (especially AJ) are getting canned.
I don’t see SD winning th AFC West this year. Denver won it last year and will only be better now that they have a QB and not another RB on the field. SD’s offense is going to be down again this year. Gates has had a tendency to suffer small injuries that limit his playing time a little and he is clearly their umber one option. Also, the lack of Jackson as a “home run” deep threat guy will tighten coverages up for underneath routes. Oh yeah and don’t forget that Rivers looks like last years Rivers in his first preseason game… AKA an interception machine. I was at the pre season game last week and when he threw that pick I thought “figures” lol. Last year Rivers consistently missed receivers high, that’s a recipe for picks and I haven’t seen anything that makes me think he’s fixed that issue. Matthew is made out of glass and seems to get banged up a lot. Again, over the past couple years SD has gotten rid of Sproles, Turner and now Tolbert… Management are idiots.
They are an inept franchise and it starts with AJ Smith. They never should have gotten rid of Marty. AJ and Norv would have been fired after last season but the owner didn’t want to have to pay them for their last year (guaranteed contracts) and have to pay for their replacements for this season. Let them run the show for one more year and then get new people in. Save himself some money while Charger fans sit through another disappointing season.
Oh yeah and did I mention how awful Qualcomm Stadium is? That place is a crap box.
If you can’t tell I get fired up about the Chargers. They’re my #2 team but man, theyve got a ton of issues.

I wasn’t comparing him to Emmitt Smith, I was saying that Norv had Emmitt Smith back in the day.
