NFL 2011 Part III

Saints > 49ers

Giants > GB

Pats > Heyzeus

Ravens > Texans

Saints averaged 22pts on the road this year. C’mon Alex and score 23pts.

Seriously, my team is great against the run but has holes against the pass when they go to a nickel D. But what team left in the playoffs besides Balt is great against the pass?

My fear is that the 49ers hold NO, and score 2 FGs. But then NO scores a quick TD to make it 7-6 in the middle of the 2nd.

For every FG the 49ers make, they have to score one TD.

SF 27-23.

How do you expect a qb that threw for 957 total yds this yr to hang w/one who threw for over 5k? I love the front 7 of the Niner’s but that secondary is going to struggle all day.

What’s the weather supposed to be like?
Alex Smith threw for over 3,000 yards.

SF has the 4th best overall defense in the NFL (#1 against the run) and has caused 38 TO’s and have 42 sacks. They’ll pressure Brees and get after him. People aren’t giving SF a chance but I think that there aren’t a lot of people who have watched a lot of SF games.
HA! I know Greg. It was a joke…

& you’re rt about the run & their def. They are definitely tops in the league. It’s their secondary & the fact they can’t score in the red zone that leads me to believe that NO will win.
Their secondary has 2 pro-bowlers(Rogers and Goldson), and Whitner is definitely a solid player; I wouldn’t be worried about it. I’m more worried about who covers Graham and Sprolles out of the backfield, as good as their LBs are(how good of a draft pick has Bowman turned out to be… what a stud for a 3rd round choice), those are just 2 dynamic players that are matchup nightmares for anyone

Did the Saints go undefeated this year?

I hate it when this sort of stuff makes “news.”

You ask a player what he thinks is going to happen in the next game… what did you expect him to say? “ummm well, no i dont think we’ll win next week but I hope the game is fun.”

Get out of here. Of course he thinks that they’re going to win.

60s and sunny in San Fran until next Wednesday.

If I were on the grounds crew, I’d “accidentally” leave the sprinklers on until Saturday.

^Jackass Berman referenced that Sat. Saying how the hoses would be left on for the week. He was tongue in cheek but you could tell he was also being serious about it.

They got that fullback Jed something or other. He caught one or two on the checkdowns as well

Peter King supplied me with this GOOD THING about the Steelers on a darker than usual Monday in the Burgh.

I remember the Steelers FO getting absolutely destroyed in the media about this trade when it happened. It looks pretty fucking good in hindsight.

Way too much kool-aid drinking going on here…

Fact is, NO is a terrible draw for SF since SF is ill-equipped to do what other teams did to beat this year’s Saints: play from ahead, force NO into catch-up mode, punish their mistakes

Even if Brees throws 3 INTs, he’s still ending up with ~350 and 3TDs

People aren’t giving SF a chance simply because its a passing league now (and has been for awhile now) and SF is nice everywhere EXCEPT there…

I didnt read every post on the past page so Im not sure if someone mentioned it but the OC of Green Bay, Joe Philibin, son was found dead today. He went missing Sunday and they found his body under a lake that was froze over. Football aside, thats extremely sad to here. I hope he sits this game out.

I just read about it, tragic.

Wow, terrible news. Heard it on the radio.

Am I drinking too much kool-aid? I want my team to win, there’s nothing wrong with that. New Orleans is not unbeatable. Their defense gives up 5 yds a rush. The 49ers are very good at running.

In New Orleans, NO ONE can beat them. Away from home, they’ve lost 3 times. So they can be beat.

My teams weakness is stopping the pass, so I can see Brees getting 350 easily. But let’s say my team goes up 7-0 eating up 8 minutes of the clock. Then Brees throws a pick and the 49ers eat 7 minutes of the clock and get a FG. That’s 10-0 and half way into the 2nd quarter. It could happen just like NO easily burning Brown for a TD and Goldson missing a tackle for another TD so NO is up 14-0.

Should be a good game. Aldon and Justin Smith will do work, so Brooks has to show up.

I agree with you man. In case nobody noticed, home field advantage was huge in the wildcard round. San Fran has a great chance to win and I’m really pulling for them because i’m sick of hearing about the Saints.

49ers over Saints
Pats over Broncos
Packers over Giants
Ravens over Texans

I know, I picked all home teams.

I actually agree and said this a couple pages back, all these teams but the Broncos have a solid chance to win. I just think this year home field advantage has and will make a difference.

I also do not think that the 49rs have to win in a shoot out. Brees has been stopped in the past and has had multiple pick games. If they get held to field goals then this game will result in a 49rs win.

So which will be the Game of the Week?

I got to go with Pack and Giants.

What are your thoughts on the deviant Bill Belicheat hiring McDaniels at this time? Leave no stone unturned I guess.
