From what I have been told he led with his head and struck a defenseless player in the helmet? He has been repeatedly told about this?

Again I am at work so I nobody else will talk football with me.
This “defenseless” player shit has got to stop. You can ALWAYS defend yourself, just turtle up and hit the dirt like a bitch. Or you can be a man, make a play, and accept the consequences. That’s the game, or at least it used to be.
Well again from a football fan I totally agree with you.

BUT I also see the flip side, you have guys paraded in front of the media about post concussion syndrome, depression, suicide and disability.

They are trying to take care of both sides, which can be difficult.

So my question is how stupid is Harrison? He continues to do the same things over and over. This could hurt your team cause he refuses to accept the fact that this is how the NFL is now. Would you trade that hit for having him this week?

Suh, Harrison, those are guys that are pushing the envelope and making offenses scared and the NFL keeps reviewing and reviewing and making judgments against their style of play. It’s to the point of being silly. Such a major damn dichotomy between whats’ percieved as a football play and what the people in film rooms declare dirty.

As for offenses,

What I would love to see is a play drawn up where a strong side tackle pulls to weakside as the TE releases to the flats.

DE thinks he has a clear shot to the QB until the tackle fucking decapitates him. Leading with his head.

That would send the message back to the defense that shit can get ugly on both sides of the ball. It’s unfortunate that it won’t happen. OL’s are heady and not nearly as bloodthirsty as DL’s when it comes down to it, too concerned with playing paddycake.
The offense gets theirs when a RB trucks a DB, or a pulling G levels a DL or LB on a counter or trap. There are plenty of nasty motherfuckers playing OL, but you’re right, there are a lot more on the other side of the ball.

Yeah man.

I guess I’m a fan of when OL’s dictate the ball game. I think they factor very heavily still (look at the Jets early in the season when they were dinged on OL), but they could be so much more.

I’d love to see OL play where they dominate and demoralize defences and beat the ball down their throats. Might not be as interesting to watch, but it’s fun for me. Look at Jacksonville a few years ago. Their line play was top notch and they always gave Pittsburg headaches with the two headed running attack, and Pitt was dominate defense. In the big 10 championship Wisconsin and MSU went toe to toe blow for blow and it was an amazing game. That’s the NFL style of play I’d like to see.

PAY THE LINEMAN!!! Recievers are only factors 8-12 plays in a game!!!

I digress.

He’s obviously very stubborn, and probably not the brightest guy either. My hope is that he doesn’t hurt the team in the playoffs.

Despite the penalty, that hit had a positive impact on the game for the Steelers. McCoy was not the same when he came back in that game, and it wasn’t exactly a blowout to begin with. They needed the win to clinch a playoff berth. I would not trade the win for having him this week, no. If they could have won without it, then sure I would.

I love to watch Harrison. Amazing athlete. But he is a head-hunter & a gorilla. Not every hit has to be a kill shot. Leading w/the head will get you fucked every single solitary time.

You dig OL play like I love dominating defense. The 2000 Ravens, 2002 Bucs, and 2008 Steelers were all fun as hell to watch for me. Wish I would have been cognizant of the 85 Bears and the Steel Curtain back in the day. Football was fucking brutal as hell back then.

Hmmmm not sure how I feel about that. Feels like a kneejerk reaction. I mean with all the injuries and Tyler Palko at QB its hard to see how much better this season could have gone. Was Haley a great coach? No but I would have let him finish out the year.
Well maybe they can get a head start on finding a replacement. I don’t see any benefit in letting him finish the season, as they are likely to lose the rest of their games anyway. If I was a K.C. fan (which I was when I was much younger), I would feel more hope now than I did yesterday at this time, knowing Haley is out.
Who do they go with?
Fischer.
So the contest is on KC or Jax for Fischer.
Don’t forget Norv Turner will be fired too at the end of the year. There is no way the Chargers make the playoffs so he will be gone.
They will fire AJ first so the new GM will have to decide on who he is going to hire as HC.
I’m still not sure if they will fire AJ. If he does he will get a job pretty quickly.
Why? You think he has a good resume?

You really think Norv has top notch talent to work with? You really think its Norv’s fault he has had to deal with a lot of his top notch players actually being off the field due to contract disputes then injuries after that?

Sorry Norv, can only work with the players that AJ gives him.
Well AJ and Butler(GM before him) helped turn a terrible Chargers franchise into a playoff team. I’m not saying he deserves to stay, i’m saying he will get a job right away if he does get fired.

Dude I’m a fan of dominating defense too.

What I like to see is two teams match up and basically say “Ok I have my horses on my side of the ball and you have yours, lets get after it.”

What I hate are teams like Chicago who give their special opportunities with their defense, and use the offense to ultimately punt the other team into field position issues… Whaaa?

What I’m excited to see are the Harbaugh brothers and Schwartz who are going to physically beat you up if you’re not ready, and if you eek out a win you’ll have earned that motherfucker. That’s IF Schwartz can keep his team playing hard inbetween the whistles and not after. You guys have Dick Lebow, he’s another old school guy that keeps it old school.

It’s been years so I can’t remember the team, let alone the player, but every so often, on an XP attempt, an O-lineman would intentionally false start to get a free shot on the DL. The psychology of it was probably worth it for a basically meaningless 5 yard penalty. Obviously these free shots aren’t as powerful as a blind side, real-time hit, but I always thought it was cool idea to be used sparingly.

Jesus Christ,im so sick of hearing about Tebow. It was cute when he upset the Jets but now its getting out of hand.

I’m not even anti-Tebow, but I really am getting sick of the ridiculous coverage. I can’t watch ESPN anymore, it’s so absurd. 1st and 10 has like 4 topics a day dedicated to Tebow/the Broncos, and then he somehow gets brought up in like 2 more that shouldn’t be related at all.

Talking about the Packers going undefeated? Obviously that discussion needs some hypothetical final match up vs Tebow to really spark some excitement!

I blame Skip Bayless.

But all he does is win…

Amazing athlete and game-changer no doubt, but dude seems amazingly dumb as well.

What, is the guy in just flat-out denial of all these recent rulebook changes and the microscope he’s under?? Does he really think his defiant attitude is worthwhile??

It does bother me a bit that there is no flag for an offensive player who lowers his helmet and bashes a tackling defender in the head, but there is a flag for a defender accidentally brushing helmets with a qb.

Anywho.

Tebow for president, am I doing it right?

No.

President not powerful enough.

What Tebow is doing is special. His performance during the first 3 quarters of games is short bus special.

I think AJ has just got to a power hungry arrogant prick at least from the outside looking in. Over the last few years there draft picks and contract handling has been extremely poor.

I used to draft most of the Chargers team for my Fantasy Football, cause they always put up points, so I know a lot about that team.

Rivers is a Teir 2 QB IMO, he is not Brady, Brees or Manning, just below that.

But the talent around him has dropped and gotten old. Where is the new talent? What are they grooming for the future?

The D has solid players however some of the picks at LB have been head scratchers for sure.

I agree. I’m not really a fan of what the Chargers are doing nowadays.

If they eak out 9-7 or 8-8 there’s word that Norv will remain the HC. If that’s the case I’m all the way out on the Chargers. Zero committment to win and be dominant.
