NFL 2011 Part III

Did Tim Tebow make a 51 and 59 yd FG or did the Matt Prater? Fucking media.

No, but he did put them in position for the FG’s. You gotta give him credit. 7-1 is pretty damn good. Granted the def. is outstanding.

Is the media attention a little over the top? Sure it is, but when have you seen something like this in the last 30yrs?

I think he plays his best in the 4th qtr because everything becomes chaotic. He thrives in uncontrolled situations.

& kudos to Mark… bout fucking time! Feliz Navidad mother fucker.

I’m asking for a Tebow for xmas.

This just in: If you’re an NFL coach with a losing record, you might not want to pick your phone up today

hah, I’ll be watching it… for some reason.
Would rather play Assassin Creed 3 or Skyrim.

Or sexy time with wife, or shave my back
I am a little worried that Assassins Creed and Skyrim came before sex with your wife.

Nope she pulled that one upstairs one day, dropped the controller like it was radioactive and chased her to the bedroom.

Aunt flow is in town.

It’s getting to the point where ESPN gets the dregs in the late season.

They have to lock in their schedule nice and early while NBC, CBS, and FOX can get sexy and flexy with what gets aired. Patriots-Tebows next week is a bigtime battle for NBC and CBS from what I gather.

As an example, my region plays the charger games all the time, every time on CBS. However, even after a big win over Jax on Monday night the CBS affiliate here aired the Packers-Raiders.

Methinks the Bills-Chargers matchup didn’t fill the stadium, perhaps.

Yeah game wasn’t sold out. It wasn’t that great anyways, Bills are shit.

Hmmmm not sure how I feel about that. Feels like a kneejerk reaction. I mean with all the injuries and Tyler Palko at QB its hard to see how much better this season could have gone. Was Haley a great coach? No but I would have let him finish out the year.
Well maybe they can get a head start on finding a replacement. I don’t see any benefit in letting him finish the season, as they are likely to lose the rest of their games anyway. If I was a K.C. fan (which I was when I was much younger), I would feel more hope now than I did yesterday at this time, knowing Haley is out.
Who do they go with?
Fischer.
So the contest is on KC or Jax for Fischer.
Don’t forget Norv Turner will be fired too at the end of the year. There is no way the Chargers make the playoffs so he will be gone.

They will fire AJ first so the new GM will have to decide on who he is going to hire as HC.

Fellas have you ever stood on the 50 and looked at the goal posts? I’ve stood on the playing surface at Ford Field in Detroit and those fuckers look downright petite from that far.

That shit is super narrow man. Prater drilled both of those late gamers right down the barrel with yards to spare.

That’s nails.

If Denver hangs on to Tebow they best hang onto Prater too, he’ll be in business for a long time.

Check Deadspin.com when you get a chance. Urlacher was quoted as saying “he’s a good running back” when referring to Tebow. Hahaha.

But in the end, someone needs to say “hey 54… scoreboard…”

I wonder if Lovie will use Barber as the starting RB next week. IMO they really have no offensive weapons so they’ll need Barber for wild card contention. Regardless of how much he fucked up and how he’s probably on Lovie’s bad side, I still think he’ll start. We’ll see.

I’m still not sure if they will fire AJ. If he does he will get a job pretty quickly.

Why? You think he has a good resume?

You really think Norv has top notch talent to work with? You really think its Norv’s fault he has had to deal with a lot of his top notch players actually being off the field due to contract disputes then injuries after that?

Sorry Norv, can only work with the players that AJ gives him.

This is the first time (to my knowledge) a player has been suspended for performing a football action during the course of a play.

Okay been waiting for you or BJB to bring this up.

I will preface this by saying I missed this game and did not see the hit in real time.

Been listening all day about this. Rich Gannon (QB I know) has no problem with it and they even interviewed Tomlin.

So you think Harrison is totally in the right about this?

If I were the commissioner of the NFL that hit would not even be a penalty, much less a suspension. The only conversation we’d be having would be how awesome it was, and how Colt McCoy got hit so fucking hard that all of his kids were going to be born retarded. I would say the exact same thing if Terrell Suggs laid a hit like that on Roethlisberger.

However, under the current system, I don’t even know what’s right anymore. McCoy was out of the pocket with the ball tucked under his arm when Harrison went to hit him. He unloaded the ball at the last second, then got destroyed.

Did Harrison have to hit him in the head? No. Did McCoy have to tuck the ball like he was going to run? No. Did he have to throw the ball at the last second when he knows he’s about to get killed? No. If he wanted to be safe, he should have slid, thrown the ball away, or stayed in the pocket and got sacked. If you run around where the big mean people are, they’re probably going to fuck you up. Instead, he eschewed safety in favor of making a play to help his team win.

Now, why did Colt McCoy have so little concern for his own safety? Because he is a competitor that would rather win than avoid injury. That is the essence of the game for anyone that’s ever played it: guys putting their health and well-being on the line for victory. That’s being taken away now.

I can rant and rave for 1000 words about how fucked the “player safety” rules are in the NFL, but you’ve heard it from me before: If you want to be safe, PLAY A DIFFERENT FUCKING SPORT.

Harrison is absolutely in the right. McCoy tucked the ball like he was going to run, which makes him fair game, Harrison did was defensive players do and decided to crush the qb, at the last second McCoy pulls the ball out and tosses it, Harrison levels him.

I dont care so much about throwin a flag for the helmet to helmet, but suspension? For Harrison doing what he is paid to do?

Absofuckinglutely ridiculous

^ Cant see video at work.

From what I have been told he led with his head and struck a defenseless player in the helmet? He has been repeatedly told about this?

Again I am at work so I nobody else will talk football with me.

Everything in that play could’ve been the exact same with Harrison not dipping the crown of his helmet to start the tackle, and there would literally be 0 issue from anyone anywhere, including the referees holding the yellow flags. Even in real time he had a non-zero amount of time(probably like half a second) to react to the ball being thrown, and in that time frame his choice was to lower his facemask and dive into the hit. There are plenty of big hitters around the league that manage to play the game without racking up a handful of these a year, why can’t Harrison?

Also Colt did throw the ball away, even if it was ‘late.’

I didn’t think he’d be suspended a game though; I expected him to just pick up another 25k fine, tweet about how the commish and the refs have it out for him and his team, and then move along.

^ Nope and there is an independent group that now reviews these and gives their recommendations to the Commish. I know we all want to blame him, but again like I have said many times. The NFL players themselves all want this, they have stated publicly that they are behind the Commish and player safety.

This “defenseless” player shit has got to stop. You can ALWAYS defend yourself, just turtle up and hit the dirt like a bitch. Or you can be a man, make a play, and accept the consequences. That’s the game, or at least it used to be.

Such a major fine line between being a beast and being a detriment to your team.

Suh, Harrison, those are guys that are pushing the envelope and making offenses scared and the NFL keeps reviewing and reviewing and making judgments against their style of play. It’s to the point of being silly. Such a major damn dichotomy between whats’ percieved as a football play and what the people in film rooms declare dirty.

As for offenses,

What I would love to see is a play drawn up where a strong side tackle pulls to weakside as the TE releases to the flats.

DE thinks he has a clear shot to the QB until the tackle fucking decapitates him. Leading with his head.

That would send the message back to the defense that shit can get ugly on both sides of the ball. It’s unfortunate that it won’t happen. OL’s are heady and not nearly as bloodthirsty as DL’s when it comes down to it, too concerned with playing paddycake.
