Deej,
Ha!
Regarding your “Studs to Duds” post:
I think everyone has a “window of excellence.” Some guys have it for years, others are just a flash in the pan before their bodies break down or they lose that inner fire.
Look at Ladanian Tomlinson, or John Lynch, or Lorenzo Neil, or Ray Lewis, or the Barber twins. They had it relatively long, no?
Then look at guys that thrilled and spilled and made their mark but just couldn’t maintain… Like Steve Slayton, or any RB from Denver during the Shanahan years, or Shawne Merriman, or whats his nuts that dominated with the Raiders and flopped for the J-e-t-s Jets Jets Jets.
Then look at complete Stud-horses from college that barely got a sniff in the pros before calling it good: Matt Leinart, David Navarre, your friend and mine Drew Henson, etc.
There really isn’t a perfect formula, is there? I mean, look at Jennings for the Packers. Kid played at Western Michigan, nobody knew a thing about him. But he got a shot, got in a system, caught fire in a bottle.
Same with Danny Woodhead, Kuhn for the Packers, Antonio Gates who never played a snap in college? Is it their drive to succeed and stick it out? Getting lucky by staying healthy? Hard to say, but it’s a fascinating topic.
^ Dude we have two of the biggest on the Boys, Romo and Miles.
That is why I love the NFL and sadly I watch a ton of college cause I love football, but it is always with the thought of where/how/if they go to the NFL.
^^^
It’s because of this that however many teams have fans that are hoping to “suck for luck” should just shut up and hope for their teams to win. There is no guarantee that Andrew Luck will be a great pro. He certainly looks like it, but potentially top tier QBs are more hit or miss than almost any other any position.
Remember the debate between Peyton Manning and Ryan Leaf? Leaf looked like a legitimate pro superstar-to-be. No such thing as a sure thing, especially at QB.

Well, they also have McKnight & this young kid from L-ville Powell. So I think they are ok w/the run game. Shoring up that O line is a different story. Never ever shoulda gotten rid of Faneca.
I just find it so hard to believe that a guy like Maybin who was such a stud in college can’t find a niche in the NFL. The Curry thing is all speculation on my part.
Print I wouldn’t trust Mckight to carry my recycling out to the curb. I watched that kid play at USC, and though he got mentioned a metric ton, he never really performed. Straight up hype slathered all over that dude with no real excecution on his part.

While I agree to a certain extent there are some real “slam dunks”.
Luck has shown he has the mental makeup and skills. Leaf was a mental retard, Peyton was off the charts mental in college just like Luck.
Barring injuries the kid will be the next Peyton. What sold it for me was his decision to come back his Senior year. If you look back the successful QB’s are the 4 year guys. That 4th year does a ton on polish and maturity to be successful in the NFL. For him to come back knowing he was losing his coach, says a lot of his mental make up.

I would make him a slot receiver get him into space, dude is to light in the ass to run up the middle or off tackle.
Supposedly this past off season the kid matured a shit-load. Started taking responsibility for all his actions, including life. Rex has praised him all through training camp. I don’t think we’ll know until given the opportunity. But I will say this last yr during preseason he showed flashes on K-returns to be pure speed.
As for going into the slot DJ, they have Mason first & than already slotted Kerley to step in. I think Schotty needs to either create a package for the kid or give him the ball one game 20 straight times.
BTW- Snachez’s completeion percentage as of now is 62%. For him that damn skippy. Will be real interesting Sun night. Basically the O will center around him & hitting his targets. Cuz they ain’t runnin’ the ball. Time for Plax to come out * play.

Sunday night game is going to be a fight and so fun to watch.
When the NFL found out Peyton Manning was out for the year they should have found a way to take them out of every primetime game. Some many betters games this week I would like to see on Monday night rather than Bucs vs. Colts.
Mcknight would be a breath of fresh air compared to Greene’s 2.5 yards and a cloud of dust bullshit. Like I said before, give him 10-12 touches and it may work wonders for Greenes straight - ahead style. He is basically the fastest player on the team. Not too mention he was maybe the main reason why the Jets won a game they should of lost in week 1. He should be rewarded.
Fuck it, the run game isnt the Jets anymore, so give Bilal Powell some PT too.
Sanchez to Keller all night.
Honestly guys, I think B-more is goona give NYJ a beatin. Betting against a Harbaugh isn’t a good idea.
So Deej, what about the Boys-Lions! Whattya think?

Pittsburgh pass defense rated #1 in NFL(stats), does not compute.
Those stats are worthless. Look where it got the Chargers last year.
I agree, they’ve gone up against two shit QB’s and one good one. Shaub will torch them this week if those LB’s can’t get to him.
Steelers better plan to stop the run first, cause the Texans have that shit tuned to high gear.
No shit! Pittsburgh has to play perfect to win this game, Texans not so much.
Ike Taylor will be on Johnson every snap, great machup. The middle will be open all day for Shaub if he can wait it out in the pocket.
Polamalu is going to have to be around the LOS the majority of this game because the front 7 can no longer stop the run on their own. Hopefully having him in coverage on the intermediate routes will help.
Ike vs. Johnson will be a war.

Matty, my buddy said your trade offer was your attempt to pick on a rookie, lol.
Also, the JEts will win the division, I got that feel bro. Pats D sucks, and teh Bills are going to have a major hangover this week, that they migh never shake.

LOL, I never give a first good offer I never wanna show my hand, I want to deal Finley but you have no use for him!
I get the same feeling for a letdown for the bills this week, they really had to get up to play a pats team where they were expected to lose and were playing with house money, now they are expected to win, I dont see them dealing with it well…

According to what kind of walking wounded we have, they might as well and just take the ejection and Nancy Karrigan Megatrons knee.
If Romo is healthy and we have Dez and Miles it will be a shootout.

I dont see this at all, The Ravens are only favored by 3, which tells me that if it weren’t for home field advantage they wouldn’t be favored at all…The Jets will play angry and feast on the Ravens weak corners all game. While I do agree that the Jets D is a tad overrated so are the Ravens, and overall I like the jets Offense better, especially at the receiver position. Besides Keller killing it, Holmes will catch at least 2 TD’s.
Jets 29 - Ravens 17

I heard Megatron is goona wear #11 and drop a couple in the first quarter… You know, for laughs.
Yeah they’re goona be slingin’ it around. I’m really pretty anxious to see what Suh is goona do, and how Garrett is goona gameplan for him.
Should be a pretty fun game, long as both teams aren’t hungover from close calls last weekend/monday night.

I’ll gladly change my avatar to Fireman Ed if you’re right.
Do we really need to know the darker side of the only hero I’ve ever had, Walter Payton?
Gimme a break. The cat was one of the best ever. Who gives a fuck if he took some painkillers! I sure as hell don’t care who he slept with either. Trash I tell ya’.
