NFL 2011 Offseason

^ Nice find. I would not draft the kid in the 1st round, but I also said the same thing about Tebow. After many years now of a lot of college teams running the spread I would be very very careful in drafting a QB from a spread no matter what.

fuck cam newton.

The kid is an athlete and won games in college (didnt play very much big time college ball but had one really good season)
He comes across as not very smart.
He has off the field issues.
He plays in a BS offense that doesnt translate well to the NFL.
Theres a lot of hype about this kid and he’s potentially the number 1 pick.

Sounds a lot like two other high draft pick QB’s recently… Vince Young and Jamarcus Russell… Just sayin

hahahaha I almost put “marinated in mother natures natural night camo” as one of the criteria followed by a smiley face and a lol

no but seriously… I couldnt really think of any recent first rounders that fit those criteria? Tebow, Stafford and Bradford were all off the list cause none of those dudes really had off the field issues or were considered to be functioning retards like the guys i used as examples.

I would love to be able three years from now, bring this topic back up. This class of QB’s suck big harry balls, problem is nobody will remember this. We put it in our rearview and concentrate on the upcoming class. Lets do this since the fucking CBA is making me pissed off. Lets pull the draft from 2007 and see what we get.

^^there are like 3 or 4 studs in there

Think you’re being a hair touchy Greg-Ron. Let us not forget he played in the toughest conference in the country. He won the Heisman. He won a Nat’l championship. He’s a better athlete than both Young & Russel. Outside of playing more shotgun than most, he was running a pro-style O. It’s easy to pick out the negatives. He’s what… 20-21 something along those lines. Maybe all he needs to do is mature a bit & realize w/his natural gifts that work will be required to reach full potential.

All he needs is the rt coach. Now who that is, I’ve no clue. But let’s say he decides to work w/Gruden for the next several months as Tebow did, do you think people will think the same of him?

Lawrence Timmons is developing nicely from 2007 HA! so there.

Yes but look at the only QB’s taken in the first round, both Busts. Weird. My point was we never look back at draft classes we only look for the next big stud.

Print I think the kid has potential, but again 3 years minimum sitting and learning how to be a pro.

I count six.

the same exact things were said about Young and Russel! do you not remember that?

Russel played in the SEC as well… Young won the Nation Championship and was number 2 for the Heisman… neither of those players were kicked out of school for theft and lying and look how they turned out? they were both better, character wise, coming out of college than Netwon.

the only real way is to wait and see but if history has showed us anything… Cam Newton isn’t going to do well in the NFL… he wont have a long and productive NFL career.

six studs? Who are they? (not trying to discount you or anything… i’m just curious. There are a lot of teams in the league that I dont really watch regularly so I might be missing people by overlooking O Lineman and what not)

I agree. He’s going to have be nurtured a bit. I don’t have a problem w/him sitting either. It’s who he’ll be sitting behind that might be the biggest key.

Lets just mock him as was done much earlier that he falls to Shanny. Do you not think Shanny can’t mold him into something? I don’t know how much confidence I have if McNabb is back, but I think McNabb could tutor him fairly well.

Do I think he’ll be there at 10… no… but at one point that was the early destination.

I put my opinion of who is a stud, sorry BJB Timmons has only one year starting last year and he did a decent job but I think this will be the year he “could” pull stud.

DJ, that’s exactly how I have it rated, right down to the secondary picks lol. I agree with your assesment of Timmons but he is my guy so I rated him as a stud. Joe Thomas is a pain in the ass and will be for many years to come which blows. Bowe is a bit of a headcase. Beason is studish but gets lost in the shuffle.
