All NFL teams don’t make the same amount of money. That’s the core issue. If the teams skirting the revenue sharing system didn’t do that then the smaller market teams would be able to afford to pay the players more.

That being said, it’s the owners business, this is America, they have the right to determine how much they pay their employees. Obama isn’t running the league.[/quote]

Exactly what I said, the small market teams are the ones pushing for this…the players arent asking for anything extra there is no need for a lockout, revenue sharing should be an issue for the owners and not the players, espescially when there is enough revenue to quell the small market teams problems.

Matty big business right now is has been laying people off, if you were asked do you want a pay cut or layed off/fired what would you want?

Both sides have there issues, nobody in this is church choir boys.

Wilba Mara is a good man from all I have read, I am a Cowboys fan first. I have to take JJ not like I have any choice. However he has done a lot for this league also, he is 100 times beter than fucking Brown the Bengals owner.

haaiii guyzzz i got a 0.23 cent raise last week. boom, someone call the nfl and let them know that people ARE NOT taking pay cuts.

but seriously i just want this to all work out so i can focus on football and not legal things. id be a lawyer if that was the case, and im not.

Fuck me Tender. I think I hate both parties of this fucking deal.

Who wants to bet that there will be no Pre-season football this year?

Again, if big businesses were doing well they would not lay off people or give pay cuts. The NFL is a business that is NOT experiencing an economic down turn, they are swimming in revenue, why cut player’s (the product) salary. I honestly do not see how the players are that much too blame since they arent asking for anything (correct me if im wrong), I would understand if the NFL was really in the shit, then it would make sense, there not so why cut?

As for your hypothetical situation with regards to layoffs, unfortunately that hypothetical situation was reality for me, albeit I wasnt afforded the choice of a paycut I was just laid off, which has sent me on a financial downward spiral for the last 4 years. I am now in a job out of my expertise and education making approximately 25,000 less salary wise.

Sorry Matty I forgot about that man. I think they are both wrong in my opinion, both are selfish and short sighted.

Nah DJ know need to apologize I was giving my personal finacial situation to show that if I thought the players were being greedy I would certainly have called them out and said something to the effect of everyone is suffering financially how dare the players ask for more money in times like these…I really believe the major culprits are the small market teams, not JJ.

^ I think that is part of it, being with a group of men where some are just riding the coat tails of others. Also just shows that in this business it is not always about spending the most money, JJ and Snyder learned that the hard way. I just hate owners that not are only cheap but put a shitting team on the field.

The small market teams are acting like the Pittsburgh Pirates!

It just sucks cause no FA this year. Draft will be the only true NFL thing to talk about until they get the deal done.

Yea and that screws my QB deprived, new head coach installing team.

^ Exactly not only them WC but Carolina also. I think that is why JJ and some of the other owners keep the interim coaches or promoted within the organization.

These players are taking a huge risk practising on their own. It may be all talk about jetting around to each others citys and renting a field or whatever. You get injured it’s on your dime. In reality they’ll probably just toss the ball around, drink a few beers and have a BBQ lol.

I just read a quick blurb on PFT and it sounds like DC Rob Ryan for the Cowboys was supplying all the(new) playbooks he could get his hands on to give to his guys to look at while they wait. Talk about bad timing for a coach with all this labour shit going on.

Although on a much smaller scale i’ve been in this situation before. Layoff threats, forced overtime, shitty working conditions etc. When management treats you like something they noticed on the bottom of their shoe in the negotiating room it can turn on a single comment, I’ve seen it, emotions takeover.

All drug testing has been suspended, just sayin’…

^ hahahahahahaha BJB, Cushing is going to be on a roid rage, is that what you are saying?

I think he learned his lesson. I was thinking more along the lines of you know, duuuhrugs lol.

^ I am sure there will be a few guys who hit the bong and probably drink the bong water.

However I would guess that a lot of these guys will be doing some cycles for sure. With no random testing etc. believe it Cushing is not doubt thumping the syringe right now.

I don’t think there is a randomness to it. If it’s anything like pro hockey the players know when the man is coming to take a sample. I know this for a fact, winkwink* knudge*knudge kind of communication. It’s comical really. The dumb are caught.

^ I honestly to not know what the drug policy is in the NFL, never really looked into it. Now I have heard some of the X NFL players say that if they test positive for something on the banned list, they get tested a shit load. And there is no warning for that, it is totally random and they have hours to respond to the notification.

^I would tend to agree that when you do test positive once, it’s pretty hard core after that. Maybe hockey is more laid back when it comes to drug testing. I would be willing to bet the average NHL player could pound for pound, drink any other pro athelete under the table lol.

Is this what we will be stuck doing for the next 6 months? I fear the NFL thread will become the TMZ NFL thread. FML
