like i stated whoever can establish the run would win the game (jets vs steelers)… mendenhall was stuffed on alot of those runs but 2nd and 3rd effort helped turn a -4 yd run to a +2 yd run… also pitt peaked when they needed too (3rd and 6 with 1:56 left in the game was clutch)… i know it sounds cliche but i agree with what tomlin said about the steelers… they played in a lot of close games all year and they tend to thrive in them… no matter what the circumstances they rise above…
i have to give credit where credit is due tho… for as much as i hate the jets i wanted to see JT get to the SB… and sanchez kept the jets in the game… he didn’t play the prettiest first half but he hung in there and scored 19 unanswered… unfortunately it was too little too late and they couldn’t rally…
getting ready for gb vs pitt i think its gonna be a monster match up with an incredible story-line… on one hand u have pitt and their legacy (6 sb wins), pitt has an underrated offense that gets 2nd chances cuz of roethlisberger (although with pouncey out their o-line is suspect), and a dominating defense anchored by their 4 lbs that just punish everyone. on the other hand u have gb and their legacy (most nfl titles). gb has an unstoppable (of what seems to be) with 4 solid wr and a gun slinging qb that can scamble. their defense is underrated at times, but finally getting some attention and they are anchored by their defensive front and blitzes… on top of that gb’s secondary is starting to emerge… i think this will prolli be one of the better SB of recent history (didn’t really like last year’s)… this should be closer to pitt vs ari that one year when it was back and forth… i think it’ll come down to who has the ball last…
I’m not trying to defend Culter or anything and I know they don’t know what is wrong with his knee yet so the jury is still out. But in 2007 Rivers tore his ACL in the divisonal playoff game against the Colts on a non contact play. He ran off into the tunnel to get it checked out then came back out and just stood on the sideline and watched as Billy Volek led the team to a win. At the time when he was just standing there I didn’t understand why he couldn’t go back out. He still went out and played the next game with a torn ACL, but you never know until they say exactly what happened to him.
Anyways, here is to hoping the Super Bowl is a dog fight with the Packers coming out on top.
Think thats a bit unfair to Rivers, who also went out there and played the whole game against the Pats with ‘no acl’. It was a distinct injury that got immediately identified. And while that was a close game, I think Sproles tore it up more than anything. Jay Cutler went out with an unidentifable injury that he couldnt even say it happened on a particluar play. In my experience the injnuries you notice after the fact are the ones that you can keep playing through
How disappointing! 2yrs in a row & we couldn’t get through the door. Stillirs played a hell’uva 1st half & manhandled everything & everyone in front of them. Maybe we did have our Super bowl last week.
@ Matty. I’m believer now. All yr long I said he didn’t have the moxy & he proved me wrong. Thought he played a great 2nd half & almost got us there. Get well soon brother.
I said it yesterday & it bears repeating, Schotty has got to go. He is a horrible play caller. When you have Greene & LT in the backfield for 2 plays from the one you RUN it… DUMB MOTHERFUCKER. He has no rhythm to his calling.

Dumbest thing in the whole game right there, especially with how nice they had just moved down the field, totally gave some momentum back to the Steelers.

Dude, I’m sorry but they looked like shit last night.
Greene isn’t good. He is only good at running his fat yapper AFTER getting jacked the fuck up. SOme LB smacked him so hard in the mouth paint chips flew from his helmet after a no yard gain, and he was up trash talking. Ahhhh… Buddy how about you fucking achieve something then talk…
I don’t know man… I’m so sick of the loud mouth talking bullshit that came out of that camp this year. Rex you failed, STFU. And Vin is right they are arrogant assholes that can only back it up so much… (Funny how no one is defending them now after the childish display at teh end of last night.) At least the two coaches for the next two weeks actually have respect and act like they have been there before.
(I am also sick of the loud mouth Patz fans around here. THANK GOD the Jets beat them. Now maybe they will humble a bit.)
^I agree w/the trash talk Beans. They played a bad half, that’s all. They’re a very good team, not great, but very good. However credit is due to 2 back to back AFC championships, yes? Think about the fact they’ve been on this playoff run since they beat the Steelers in week 15. You’re bound to momentum & they finally hit a wall.
Theirs always next yr… I wonder if we get Hard Knocks again?
This is the first time I think I’ve ever disagreed w/you Beans, but I think Greene has game. They just don’t involve him enough. Make him feature for 1yr, see what he has. If it doesn’t fly, cut his ass loose. I think they leaned on LT a lot this yr, & well they should, he had a great yr. But You need Greene from start to finish last night to wear the defenses down.
Congrats to all you Stillers fans… you cocksuckers… & I say that w/all the sincerity I have.

Except for that drive, where they had started to gain some momentum by running alot. While the d is obviously the strength of that team the running game has been solid (not great but always good) for the last couple years. tHEY let Washington go because they were confident in Greene. They did look like shit and they manned up to it from what i HEARD. NO bullshit, no excuses.

I think he CAN be a great back for sure. Just not last night outside of a handful of runs.
But then again it isn’t like Pitts D is soft, lol.
God I hope they get Hardknocks again. I can’t wait to see teams pin their ears back and give them their best shot all year again.
This year has been a wild ride, and the Superbowl is almost a let down at this point, lol.
I don’t really post on these threads anymore because talk is cheap.
That, and there’s a whole lot of New York fans around it seems, that’s definitely always annoying.
But I will stop in to leave a little “Go Pack Go.”
As long as Mike McCarthy can get his head out of his ass with his playcalling (honestly, that second half was fucking ABYSMAL,) I think the Packers have a good shot.
I think it’s a great match-up as well… two offenses that have great potential for explosion and big plays, and two AWESOME defenses that are hard-nosed and as blue-collar as it gets.
By the way, I’m not sure if this was covered at all, but did anyone happen to notice that 3 of the 4 teams left in the playoffs yesterday played the 3-4 defense? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm…

Print and Matty are very cool man, lol. Not like most Jet fans I’ve had the pleasure of meeting.
It’s Yankee fans (Bonez) and the Dj guy you have to look out for. ;)
Haha, that’s true.
Nah, but really, I’d love to keep up with these threads more consistently but we are all so blindly devoted to our team it’s hard to be subjective sometimes, especially when you’re on a website called Testosterone Nation, lol.
That, and I’d make a response and have read through like 3 pages of stuff I wanted to address by the time I was able to check the thread again!
^ Is that a shot at me Beans? SSC dont be a stranger, most of us just like to talk NFL. I for one love the game and can discuss pros and cons of almost any team.
On the Packers, give the Bears Defense credit where it is due. They shut down the Packers O, I dont think the HC messed up the play calling. Its always easy to blame the guy calling the plays when they dont workout. I will say the Packers have overcome a shit load of things this year and McCarthy should get coach of the year.
On the 3-4, last year both teams were 4-3, I really do not think it is relevant. Both teams have a Franchize QB and a top 5 defense, that is why they are in the big game.

I agree and the fact is,Jay Cutler injury was serious enough for him to be taken off but not bad enough for him to jump around when Hanie was stylin? How can his acl/mcl/pcl be sprain when hes just standing on the sidelines with the same dead pan look on his face. Get real. It doesnt even help when you compare Cutlers attitude with Rivers. Atleast River wants to be there and help his team out.
As i sit here in my own sick…Im disgusted at reading some of these comments…
first Ill take Phil Simms portrayal of a QB over any of you guys, Sanchez played excellent in the second half completing some very hard passes. How come no one is mentioning the pass play to braylon edwards where he was getting rushed he had to slip out of the pocket switch hands and complete a pass.
Yes WC and the Bears fan that pass play was awful…but you blame sanchez how bout you blame that asshat schottenheimer. Not for nothing Big Ben did the same fucking thing! The play where beans’ favorite player (smith) blocked a pass at the goal line, which would have been intercepted by Revis if he hadnt.
Sanchez went up and down the field in the second half sans any running game. you guys are blinded by your dislike for him. WC you can say he has a long way to go, I say he has come a long way. He got hammered in the first half and came right back…hes a tough kid. No one mentioned the late hit by Harrison when Sanchez gave himself up either.
Man, Big Ben was on the Jets EVERYONE would be screaming about how much he sucks but since he is on the real americas team its man that Big Ben, it aint pretty but he sure knows how to win! If Sanchez put up Ben’s numbers and won…it would be wow Sanchez blows, they won in spite of him.
SSC - what ny fans?..you seem like another ny hater…you would fit right in.
Wait lemme check and see if somebody bumped that stupid NY jet thread…you know to say the Jets can suck it and blah blah blah…talk is cheap and it sure is prevalent when the jets lose.
Matty and Print. Now that you are stuck at the same point as I am, what would you like to see in the Draft? I have actually watched Jets games this year because of you two. My .02 is you need a pass rusher, you could not get real pressure with your front 4. Also you need a compliment back to Greene, he is really the up the middle guy. You need what you lost in Leon.
