Hi All,
Looking for some expert opinions here, totally new to TRT other than surface level education.
Former athlete and always lifted as a hobby. Never any bodybuilder aspirations, more aesthetics than anything. 42yo, father, high stress corporate career, train 5x/wk, keep training log, diet in check weighing/manipulating macros w ss cardio when fat loss stalls during fat loss phase.
I’m 6’1, down to 165lbs during fat loss phase. Yes, I know this is small af. Lots of compliments in the gym w a cutoff but look like shit in clothes now where colleagues ask if stopped working out which has been depressing and a huge mind fuck. But I look and feel so much better being lean.
Normally I’d sit around 190-195 but soft due to lots of weekend beers and pizza. Cut out all booze and shit food mostly and down to 165 as mentioned above (just trying to provide enough context here). Funny thing is, I’m stronger at everything at 165 than I was when I was bigger, leading me to believe I was carrying a lot of slop.
I’ve always complained of low energy, severe low sex drive, brain fog and difficult to add on muscle or get super shredded. PCP thinks my test is fine (see labs below) and refuses to put me on TRT. Finally went to a local legit TRT and he has prescribed me to 200mg cyp weekly. I’m excited to start next week but also wanted to pick the the t nation boards in parallel as I’ve akways found this is the best place to go.
Goals: although down to such an embarrassing weight, I still carry a little bit of flab over lower abs due to previous abuse of alcohol and eating like a shithead. Trying to shed this last layer before reverse dieting on a muscle gaining phase w the TRT.
So many questions. Am I on the right track? What can I expect from 200/wk cyp. Is this low or high? Do I keep calories/diet/cardio same for now and keep logging results w the addition of TRT? I have not been prescribed anything in addition w the test, is that bad? . I know the fitness journey is a long game so really just experimenting while logging everything — I’m very data driven.
Let’s start a good educational thread here. I’m an open book. Feel free to flame, I’m here for it but also looking for sound and expert advice. Thanks all!
