Tools new album comes out on May 2nd. It’s called 10,000 days.

Wguitar, you know your stuff, especially with the Rush reference and comparison.
As for my opinions on Chevelle and Deftones:
It’s noise. Bad noise. Unsettling drawn out overdone noise that makes me want to pluck out my eyelashes with bbq tongs. Might not be the popular opinion among Tool fans, but Deftones and Chevelle should sell their instruments on ebay and call it a day.
Same goes for the Tool tribute band Earshot. Damn them for making me think that their “Get Away” tune was some sort of import release to get excited about.
I’m pretty excited about the new Tool release, can’t wait.
The best band of any genre ever.
B.
I respect your opinion. However, Chevelle does not have the right to even be mentioned in the same breath as the deftones.

I agree, all opinions respected…but chevelle can’t hold shit to the deftones…oh and i really liked the Team Sleep album.Tool kicks serious ass, undertow has gotten me through some rough lifting sessions

This is the first I’ve heard of it too. I’m excited, but I hope Maynard keeps the fucking politics out of his lyrics this time, unlike the last APC release.
I’m gonna make a wager and say he’s gonna talk alot about the death of his mother and how it affected him. That, or war and politics…

as much as i love the deftones, they really didn’t do much with their last album, the self titled one. To say they are somewhat similar to tool? i dunno man, they are very different. The only album i found to be toolish was white pony. ones prior to that were more korn sounding and screamo. still love them and will buy their new cd whenever that is, but i will shit myself when the new tool cd drops!
I don’t see how deftones or chevelle is toolish at all.
Tool is playing at the Coachella Festival Apr 29, three days before the new album drops. I can’t wait, its so bad I can’t bear to think about it…yet. To put things into perspective, their last live show was nov 2002.
As far as I know besides Coachella, there are a few UK dates but none released in the states yet.
I have logged more time in the gym to Aenima and Kill 'em All than all other music alive. Can’t wait for the next album. The really are one of the few bands I can think of - Zeppelin being another, I guess you’d have to count the Beatles - were every memeber of the band is extremely talented.
here’s an interesting side note for maynard fans: he is also a fairly well trained martial artist. do a search for maynard on youtube.com, find the video of him grappling a fan who runs onstage.
A new album from Tool and Live in the one month. That is perfect as far as I am concerned.

You know, I have heard several people remark on how much “Chevelle sounds like Tool…” I don’t hear it at all either. Chevelle’s singer tends to sing in higher registers. I guess people could draw some similarities there, but honestly their voices are nothing alike. And their music is even FURTHER apart.
No one sounds like Tool in any way, IMO. Except maybe the aforementioned singer of Earshot. But no matter how much you may emulate Tool or Maynard, Tool is untouchable. Even APC, whom I do enjoy, is a far cry from Tool. Well, just a different ball game, I guess.

He’s trained BJJ with the Gracie’s in Brazil.
A local radio station here in Boston is playing a 20 second clip from the first single, and it’s awesome. I think it’s from the songs intro, and it reminds me a bit of 46 and 2, but a little heavier. I heard it on my way to the gym, and had a big smile on my face. Not that Tool’s ever put out a bad album, but it’s just always a relief to know they haven’t gone Metallica on us.

Scheduled to be released end of April 2006. Music for me pretty much begins and ends with Tool. Anyone as excited as I am? Can’t believe it’s been five frickin years since Lateralus

Anyone Heard this yet???
I didn’t read the whole thread so sorry if double-post. Amazon will have it since May02.
Never said Chevelle was like TOOl–just thought they were cool. Deftones ROCKS! and yes their second to last cd–minerva–SUCKED BIG WET ASS! Been completely trashed to all three more times than I can remember…ahhh–college! Tool is the one that brings back more memories than all of them combined; some good, some not so good!
But I have to say that by far TooL is definatly more talented–or should I just say–Maynard is the man!
Somebody mentioned that this cd would probably be about dying b/c of the recent death of Maynard’s mother. Well, may I quote ‘vicarious’:
“i like to watch death from a distance”
I think you were righta!
Oh guys, I got the new album - and it is GOOD! I’m definitely gonna go buy it when it comes out in stores.
Torrents anyone?
I’ve heard Vicarious (thanks to T-Nation linking me to it). It sounds very similar to their material on Lateralus (which is a good thing). I’m very excited to hear the rest of the album. I like the comment that a previous poster made about how the guitar riffs sound simple, yet fit the song perfectly. Has anyone ever seen Adam Jones’ guitar setup? Man, it is wicked. More Tool! Well, that is fantastic!
The album is definitely good. More mellow than I would like but still really good.
Man, I was set to get tickets to see them in concert and my useless friends bailed at the last moment. Oh well.

Im gonna put myself out there for a minute and make a prediction that whats circulating right now is not the real thing. At best its a collection of possible b-sides and studio bug outs ‘leaked’ to fuck with people. I would be wildly dissapointed in this album if the torrents and p2p stuff is in fact the real thing. Lateralus was a masterpiece, and vicarious kind of follows in the same vein, but none of the other leaked stuff sounds anything like it. Im praying that its a joke.
