Currently new to TRT. I am a 6ft1 male 45 years old and weigh 257lbs. My T levels came back at 234. I am currently taking 160 injectable milligrams a week. First week I felt amazing had lots of energy, and slept great. The following week for my next dose, I felt very tired and no energy throughout the week. I just did my 3rd dose this week and again feel very tired. Is this normal?
Not only is it normal but it’s expected. Those searching for instant gratification are not going to find it on TRT.
Patience is key!
The half-life of testosterone cypionate is 5 to 7 days, multiplied by five (pharmacokinetics) you’ll reach steady blood levels in 42 days and you will have twice as much test in your system as when you first started.
If you change your dosage at any time, it’s another 42 days to a steady state. Making too many changes too often can throw your body into chaos.
For comparison, I’m on a new oral testosterone undecanoate, half-life 6 hours, reaching steady states in 7 days!
Achieving steady blood levels is one thing, your bodies response to the new hormonal set-point can take longer.
The majority of men notice significant improvement within the first 3 to 6 months, provided your TRT protocol is optimized from the start.
The maximum benefits of TRT continue for years. It’s rare that men find the perfect protocol right out of the gate, often taking months to fine-tune due to the half-life of injections.
I think he means it’s new found fatigue with TRT hence not normal?
hey there, i started similar as you. 6.3, 44, 258. T levels 212/7free early on. i suggest splitting dose in 3x week.
The adrenaline and exhilaration provided by the libido effect that made you feel energized because of the thought of higher test levels wore off and you went back to feeling like your old self by week 2. Likely the test injections didn’t have much to do with these feelings since it takes several weeks for test (cyp or enanthate) to kick in.
OP can you clarify if this fatigue is newfound or the same as pre TRT. I am surprised by others misunderstanding or is it just me?
It’s too early to be having this conversation. Your provider should have warned you that the first 6-8 weeks would be a rollercoaster of positive and negative experiences that may have no relationship to your long term experience of TRT. As difficult as it may be, try to avoid premature assessments and conclusions about the effects of your protocol.
Thanks for the feedback everyone.
To clarify some things. The exhaustion is new. The day after I inject the TRT I am extremely exhausted no energy at all. I do have very physical job as well. I will continue the dosage I am taking and just ride it out.
I’ve had this happen before, and feeling my best at trough. Give it sometime and see if a dose change is in order. That’s my advice not saying anything is fact.
Well in my case switching brand/carrier oil/cyp to enanthate is what fixed the over all experience.
