Hi everyone, I’m in my late 50s and recently started TRT (100 mg per week). I’ve been taking testosterone for a few months and my total testosterone count is now at about 1500 ng/dl which is way over the upper reference range. I am a bit worried about it being so high but my doctor, who is not a TRT specialist, says not to worry about this number since my free testosterone reading is still in the normal range. In fact he is suggesting that I increase my dose up to about 150 mg per week to determine if it will help reduce the level of fatigue that I am still experiencing. I’d be interested in feedback from those of you who are more experienced with TRT. Should I be concerned by my total testosterone counts? Thanks.
No, your doctor is right, surprisingly.
Your free test matters the most.
Keep an eye on your HCT and estrogen, but otherwise continue on.
If your provider green lights 150mg/wk, I’d send it and check bloodwork in 4-6 weeks to see how you’re doing.
