After chasing 405 for the past few years, I finally pushed it Raw yesterday. In fact it went up so easy I figured I’d try 415, well that buried me. Anyway I haven’t lifted with a shirt in about 10 years and would appreciate any advise on looking for one. I think I’ll probably stick to a single ply, my last shirt was an Inzer (40lbs ago)and I can’t even dream of squeezing into it.
It depends on what fed you lift in as far as the double/single ply thing. But my two suggestions would be:
Titan Fury - $85
Inzer Rage X - $135
If your fed allows it, get them open back with velcro. The single ply versions of these shirts are very good and not too hard to learn if you don’t get them too tight. I tried a Rage X that was too big for me, open back, and no velcro, and I still could have easily gotten 75+ pounds out of it. You have to train for it though. You need to be thinking closer to 500 in a single ply.
If you arch go with the Titan F6. The groove is lower and is designed for an arched bencher. The price is the same as a Fury ($85). If you use a fury or F6 wear a small belt (i.e. dress belt), to keep the shirt from riding up.

Tell me more about your benching style. If you bench arched then a Rage X would probably be best for you and if you bench flat backed you would probably want a shirt like the Titan Fury. There is another option if you have a pretty good arch. Denim!! Personally i love my open back double denim more than any poly I have ever tried but the groove is harder to learn.
I bench arched, but at 5’9" it’s not a real extreme arch, I’ve never used an open back shirt, what’s the advantages? I’m assuming those are easier to get into for one.
I was looking to go single ply simply due to the learning curve and being able to use it at any meet. Bench isn’t going to make or break a meet for me so I didn’t want to spend too much on the shirt, I’d rather put money into the squat suit.

Get a Rage X single ply open back with velcro at the bottom. The main advantages to getting an open back is that you can get a better arch and you can pull down the neckline of the shirt for more support, which the Rage X is very good for. When you feel that you are ready the you can upgrade to double ply. BTW you may need to improve your arch to bench in a Rage X. good luck.
After blowing out a Rage X the fifth time I used it, I won’t go back. I switched to single ply Titan F6. I have used it for about two months, and not a single runner. I arch a lot to compensate for my monkey arms and the F6 works great. The F6 eats me up though. I have the “mark of the beast” permanently on my tris. I have a size 42 hand me down double ply Fury open back super gangsta with two inches taken off the sleeves, and I wear a 46. If I could press the weight off my chest, I would get around 200 lbs. out of it. Congratulations on the 405, that’s a sweet raw bench.
I’ve had a little experience with inzer shirts blowing out but just wet down the whole chest palye and neck after you put it down and there will be much less microfiber breakdown and almost no chance of a blowout. The Rage x is a stronger shirt, it’s the way to go.
Thanks all for the input, I’ll think this over, I’m pretty confident with both Titan and Inzer products. Just don’t want to start off too extreme on my way to 500!

Just got my f6 and I’m looking forward to this; last week my buddy’s shirt actually broke the skin (luckily it wasn’t too deep so he didn’t bleed all over the place).
I ordered an F6, looks like the best compromise, I want to beable to use it in any fed. I don’t lift by federation I lift by whatever is close! Thinkin’ about doing the Georgia games, my squat is finally coming along, guess I’ll have to get a new squat suit also, that will be another thread!
Thanks for all the help, hope I can report a 500 push in a few months!
