Kiss Me Thru The Fone - Soulja Boooooy
I want to ask for a music recommendation, but I feel if I do, all I will get is random groups listed with everyone trying to show off how hardcore their musical choices are.
I am looking for songs using guitars that sound like they belong in an movie’s action sequence. Songs like “Bring me back to life” by Evenescence or “There and Back again” by Daughtry…or “What I’ve Done” by Linkin Park are songs similar to what I am looking for.
If anyone knows any other groups that can put out songs like that, let me know.
Hi X,
This is’nt really what you just asked for, but if you are looking for something for Driving and lifting, then check out Pendulum.
Give this song a chance. Most of their stuff starts slowly.
This is what I use to drive to the gym.
For something guitar based, ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ by Guns N Roses always works for me.
The Pot. by TOOL.
hey X
if you want something along those lines check out Muse (black holes and revelations is a great album; so are the rest) and/or 30 seconds to mars (“from yesterday” is a great song)
Here’s some that I like:
Dink ‘Green Mind’
Ministry ‘Just One Fix’
'What About Us?"
Pig ‘Paniac’
KMFDM ‘Juke Box Jezebel’
Metal Church ‘Badlands’
A few of these were on soundtracks.
Prof X,
I don’t know if it’s been mentioned yet, but an album I just recently downloaded and really like is by Five Finger Death Punch, “Way of the Fist”. I got the bonus track version, and I have to say it’s one of the better albums I’ve gotten lately.
Also, a true classic, in my world anyway, is Rob Zombie’s “Hellbilly Deluxe”.
And lastly, although I know I will take heat for this cos they aren’t “hard” enough, but I really like Disturbed. Any of their albums are good for lifting…or driving.

I appreciate it guys…but I’m a southern guy who grew up on hip hop and “hip hop metal bands”. I need more rythm and melody than “speed metal”. Someone who can hold a tune at the front helps as well.
Daughtry’s song I listed above shows real vocal talent, a fast beat and a good melody. All three make a good song (I haven’t heard anything else from thjem so they may suck other than that).
It’s a little hard painting a picture of the type of music as everyone has different taste, but Bring Me Back To Life was a hit because it had crossover appeal. That same appeal is what I’m looking for.

They are weird…but I like Supermassive black hole for some reason. I’ll check out the rest of their stuff.

You may like Alter Bridge. I’ve been working out to “Ties that Bind” and other songs from their Blackbird cd.

Thank you. I like Blackbird. I’ll see what else they have.
Edit: The lead can really sing. I was getting tired of music groups where the lead can’t even hold a note.
Just thought I’d toss this out there: Kamelot. Very good vocalist, although some of their tunes are a little to “pop” for my taste.
Check out Apocalyptica. Crazy what they do with a cello. Their new album is great only a handful of songs with volcals by guest volcalists like Corey Taylor of Slipknot or Adam Gontier. Their claim to fame is covering Metallica. Also Kings of Leon are a good listen.
Some metal band with an actually good vocalist
Blind - Guardian - Bard’s song
Blind Guardian - Battlefield
Blind Guardian - Nightfall
This is a rap song with a sick guitar added in
Killah Priest- for tomorrow

I like Shinedown’s Devour. Another is Mr. Busta himself with “Don’t Touch Me”. Right now, I’m on a classical kick, so I probably wouldn’t be too helpful. [/quote]
I second anything from Shinedown’s latest album…great stuff.
In the same genre anything from the band “Red” is phenomenal. Huge melodies, great production and their use of orchestral parts in a large majority of their songs differentiates this band from most other modern rock acts. One of my favorites right now.
