New Flameout Formula? (Polysorbate 80 Added)

So I noticed my new Flameout caps are much darker in color than my old caps, so I compared labels with an old bottle to see if there were any changes.

Calories, fat content, DHA, EPA and CLA all remain the same, but I see something called Polysorbate 80 (Tween 80) is a new addition to the ingredient list. Not sure if that’s what’s making the caps darker, but it’s the only change I can see from the old version.

Just because I’m curious, anyone have any theories as to why it was added to the formula? I looked it up and according to Wikipedia it some sort of fat emulsifier, but that didn’t really explain it for me.

Polysorbate 80 is a highly viscose water-soluble yellowish liquid used as a dispersing agent -mixes oil and water, stabilizer and lubricates.

Usually used as a preservative.

From what I’ve heard, Flamout needs to be refridgerated once opened.

Maybe this doesn’t need to be done with the new stuff.

I’m still waiting for mine, so I don’t know.

I noticed this as well.

I freeze mine

Reminds me of that old Bryers ice cream commercial

I received my order yesterday and I don’t know if the bottles spoiled en route to Texas or what but the smell is pretty bad. Anyone else noticing this?

Unless your bottles sat in the heat for an prolonged period, it’s likely that you’re just smelling the gelatin capsule.

Flameout won’t go bad during normal shipping.

I live in Texas as well, and even with the 5 million degree heat my Flameout comes in route to San Antonio just fine.

And, I haven’t noticed the darker color and I’ve been taking it for…2 years now?..Awkward.

Just slap them in the freezer to preserve them.

I got my Flameout and the capsules smell/taste like mosquito repellant now. I just bite em open and suck out the fish oil… the oil is still good. But the capsules have a nasty aftertaste… Not happy with the change and all.

I waited like a month for it to go off back order maybe they added some preservative because of summertime heat/shipping.

I noticed the darker color as well. But I’ve never experienced them smelling bad.

Put them bitches in the fridge

Flameout capsules have not changed.

We’ve been using the same gelatin for about 2 years now.

They taste exactly the same to me. Like nothing. Smell is the same as well.

Those who can afford Flameout: consider yourselves lucky. I’m finishing off a bottle of NOW’s ultra Omega 3, keep them in the fridge and all, and the suckers still smell and taste like Jersey shore at low tide. (my skin looks great though.)

The new bottle I recieved smelled fine, but the capsules are significantly darker–almost a bronze color.

Me too, although they don’t actually freeze.
