Looks closer to Conan than Arnold did. Hopefully he’ll fight and move more like Conan (panther-like), too. Except, apparently, movie Conan still shaves his chest.
Pathfinder was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Seeing how this is going to generally be the same concept I’m praying this will not blow huge balls.

but didn’t you buy the Cher CD because you liked the video? Or was that the George Michael CD?

How do you look at Arnold’s Conan and think that this guy is a suitable replacement? That is akin to thinking the Chevy Nova is acceptable to replacing an SS Camero.
This isn’t MEANT to be Arnold’s Conan, nor a replacement…
Agree! But Conan still has to look like a beast! This guy’s physique just doesn’t fit that role.
Obviously choosing this guy is a marketing ploy. Soy boys are trendy nowadays.
Rachel Nichols’ character is waifer-thin because she comes from a royal line hiding in the desert, not some village slave working for a living and snacking on boars meat and Giant Ostrich eggs with 244 grams of protein per serving.
As far as the Cher videos go and some of those other ghey artists, I’d be willing to shoot videos for them too if it meant paying the bills and eventually opening doors leading to being a millionaire Hollywood director. Nispel’s wiki page says Conan was his childhood dream project, so good for him.

I doubt that he’s a millionaire at this point Mr. Defensive. Oh, and Rachel Nichols is waifer-thin because she only managed her first pull up after training for GI Joe - that’s not a slight against her, but her appearance has fuck all to do with her character’s lifestyle…

Reboots are done to start a series over, agreed. Most people now do not even know about Howard, or Robert Jordan’s Conan novels though. Having this guy play Conan, who is supposed to have the strength of 10 men is buying into the “Twilight” crowd of 180lbs is huge. I don’t care if Conan is white, black, olive, purple whatever, but who ever plays him had better look like he is going to tear off some fucking heads, shit down some throats and then go home and fuck their sisters. This guy looks like he is going to get a manicure and go suck off his BF.
I hope I am wrong about this, for the sake of one of my literary heroes.
Howard’s Conan was only about 210 .lbs. He’d be large enough in a world where folks weren’t eating 5-6 times a day, using anabolics, terrified of covering long distances (too much catabolic aerobic work), etc. And he certainly didn’t shave his body hair off.
I actually didn’t think Arnold looked the part at all. There’s big. Then there’s chemically big. Not really many pharmacies in the Hyborian age.

Dude… it’s a fictional story where he also fought demons… I kinda think maybe they suspended reality for a good storyline. Conan was a monster, bigger and stronger than anyone.
It’s like folks complaining about the commercials for happy cows in California… hey, cows don’t talk either.

You’re totally right, there were not many pharmacies in that age…Dont really think there are too many irradiated spiders crawling around, so we can probably cross spiderman off the list of “real world possibilities.” Um, I doubt there is a mushroom world interconnected with a huge series of tube tunnels too, so Mario is probably not real…hmm what else couldnt be true…

Well, he wasn’t bigger than everyone in his world. He was simply a big man relative to others. Howard’s Conan is panther-like, big. Not bullish. 6’2, 210 isn’t bullish. Hairy fella, too. I want Howard’s Conan. Not the crap we’ve already been subjected to.

So movies=non fiction, gotcha. Where do I sign up for my Avatar?

Uh…The movies and the character are both fiction. What’s your point? I want to see the Conan of REH’s stories, finally. Not saying this guy will be it. But, Arnold? Not even close. That Conan was schlock. I’m hoping this time around, REH’s Conan is actually in the movie, and not just the title.
