Nope. Itās been the same under the barter system, feudalism, mercantalism, capitalism, and all the flavors of marxism.
The amount available to pay labor cannot exceed the value they add to the end product. So a laborer interested in earning more either shops for the better paying employer, acquires a rare and valuable skillset, or finds a way to create value by delivering their own product. This is WAY older than capitalism.
