I did the Art of Manliness one in my garage and have had great success with it. Haven’t dropped anything over 300 on it before but it’s gotten a fair amount of use, is in a cold, wet and dirty garage, and has held up great.
Only thing I’d change is maybe finishing the wood.
I ended up getting an elitefts multibar. It’s a stiff bar but very good quality. After I purchased it I realized it didn’t have any middle knurling which can be an issue when you squat but I just applied a little grip tape in the middle and it fixed that. Not saying it’s better than what you’re looking at just that it’s a high quality bar. In any case good luck.
Forgot to update- I ended up ordering the Ohio powerbar in black zinc… should be here Monday and I’m extremely excited for it.
I would in reality really like to get my room set up nice and anchor everything into the existing floor and build a few platforms… unfortunately my room is an addition in the house where I’ll be gutting it and making the master bed/bath so I only have a year or two left in the space. After that I’ll have to find a gym to go to. I really wish my basement was deeper, it’s only 6’ ceilings plus ductwork/gas and water lines.
Dig out your basement another 2-3 feet, might take a year of work but I guarantee your deadlift would skyrocket from all the back strength you’d gain from that
