And this is why many people look at powerlifting like it’s a joke.
Did you place top 3? if not, divide it up by weight class and re-attempt
Did you place top 3 in your weight class? if not, add gear restriction and re-attempt
Did you place top 3 in your weight class with gear? if not, remove 1 specific piece of gear and re-attempt
Did you place top 3 in your weight class with a belt, a 2-ply shirt, and only one wrist wrap? If not, don’t make eye contact and deny having gone to the competition
Powerlifting kinda turned itself into a sport of participation trophies with this nonsense.
This is basically USAPL raw lifting minus the knee wraps and plus the possibility of being drug tested. Edit: I always liked the requirement that one bar be used for all of the lifts though I never thought of its impact on sumo deadlifts specifically. I like that!
cant reach the bar… i can barelly reach the bar on a high bar, lol…
trained only sumo for 6 months… hit a silly sumo PR with a red face… then just to test, switched to conventional, with no rest, no warmup and pulled it like it was a warmup… havent done conventional for 6 months before it still was much stronger than my sumo…
i officially cant deadlift sumo worth a shit. suddenly started respecting sumo lifters a bit more as i actually switched to sumo in hopes to do better - all i got was like 15% worse.
