It’s been a difficult two weeks. I’ve made it to the gym a couple times, but that’s about it. I’ve been doing online research to gather information about setting up World Record attempts. To my dismay I have found that the Canadian In-Line & Roller Skating Association (CIRSA) is no longer in operation. There is no longer governing body for In-line Speed Skating in Canada. I have contacted the Canadian Ice Speed Skating Organization but they have no connection with Inline Skating the same with the Hockey association.
The fact is there is no organization that can over see any World Record attempts for Inline Speed Skating in Canada. Needless to say it has been quite the blow. I have gone through a minor depression and have been lacking in motivation, however I refuse to be kept down. I am going to continue training and contacting who ever I can to try and find a solution to this problem.
I went for a one hour time trial today and after three weeks without skating managed to pull off 27kmh. I didn’t do much of a warm-up and my legs felt pretty heavy and my cardio was crap. All in all not to bad, sure has put a better outlook on life. The task now is to keep myself motivated and working out. Life has a strange way of working out as long as one stays focused and motivated. I hit a bump in the road and almost lost my balance, I could have crashed but I didn’t so it’s time to get back on that horse. Staying strong cause I can’t think of anything else to do!

Start your own governing body.
Those times you write about are when it’s good simply to have the habit.

That you are even in a position to worry about someone to varify a work record is outstanding and speaks volumes about your training and ability. This won’t get you down for long.
It’s taken a lot of web searching and positive thinking, but life outside of the gym is once again on a high note. One never knows where the break will come from, however if you stay positive it will come.
After a couple of weeks of dead end searching I came across a picture of three speed skater standing on a podium. The caption on the podium read “Roller Sport Canada”. Well that sounded very official so I did a search and found their web site. Which brought me in contact with Tyler Congdon, director of speed skating. Tyler is also the Canadian World Team manager and coach and one of the founders of C.R.I.S.C. (Calgary Rollercade Inline Speed Club).
Tyler was able to confirm that Canada and the F.I.R.S (Federation of International Roller Sports) do not at the present time record world records for over 50 (Masters) speed skaters. He did however invite me to skate in the Canadian National Inline Speed Skating Championships next year in Calgary Alberta.
Tyler and his girlfriend, a former Canadian National Team Inline Speed Skater in 2006 & 2007 will becoming to Victoria for a Roller Derby skating camp on August 16 2009. He has asked to meet with me after the skating camp. He and his girl friend will be bringing their skates so they can go for a skate with me and give me some coaching and criticism on my skating.
My work supervisor also told me to draft up a proposal for sponsorship, which he will present to the owner of the company. He is very sure they will sponsor me for this and possible (depending on the outcome) future events. The sponsorship will only be covering travel expenses but that’s just huge at this time.
I’ve been hitting the gym regularly but I haven’t been skating. That of course will be changing this weekend. I’m going to hold off on any type of training other than skating until I meet with Tyler.
So life has been a roller coaster ride the last couple of weeks. The course however is really smoothing out and things are looking incredibly look. I am to say the least extremely excited and stoked up big time. This next year will see me go into some extremely dedicated training, skating, weights, plyometrics and foot speed drills. Most of this will be drawn up by Tyler and his girlfriend who is a sprinting coach herself.
I’m back, and ready to do everything I need to in order to get to the top. I will be stronger and faster than ever before. I will be the next Canadian Masters Speed Skating Champion and nothing can stop me!

Sorry skidmark, we’re in the middle of the mother of all heatwaves. It maybe average summer weather in some places but not here. We normally get weather in the low to high 70’s the last week has been 90 to 100+. Basically it’s a three shirt (drenched) day at work, drinking lots of water to stay hydrated so that not a problem.
Getting to sleep is not easy as our temps at night are in the high 69’s to low 70’s. I’m not complaining, just getting the crap kick out of me.
I have four days off coming up so I’m hoping the weather sticks around so I can enjoy playing in it instead of only working. Besides it’s time to get my head out of my ass. Thanks for the get it together kick in the ass Bro, I really needed it.
This chapter of my pursuit for perfection has come to an end. My goals have changed wherefore so must I. I’m starting a new log “My Quest for Speed”. With the introduction of coach Tyler Congdon into my life. I believe it’s time to start of fresh.

It was unbelievable. I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately I had to work in it so playing in it after work was out of the question. Broke a lot of records and created a lot of whining. Cooled down a fare bit since Friday. Today was awesome, big symphony splash in the inner harbor, about 40,000 people down there. It’s the B.C. big long weekend lot of things happening.
