Ncsugrad's TRT Log / Diary

Yup . I’ve had this issue on trt recently where it would take forever to orgasm. Until now I didn’t know what I did to make it better. It seems the same time I improved was when I started taking my armour thyroid chewed up instead of whole pill: it’s said that when it’s chewed up or crushed the body absorbs more of it. Maybe that’s the connection.

Someone else was saying e2 can increase serotonin, which can also cause delayed climax issues. I haven’t researched that much yet though.

Adding to the sex diary

Friday and Saturday were a LOT of work to make it happen. Saturday took 3 tries and a lot of time. Monday wasn’t terrible. Wednesday was a marathon. Yesterday wasn’t terrible. So it’s a lot of back and forth lately but it’s more marathons than not lately. In typing all that out maybe I should take it easy for a day or two, lol. But I shouldn’t have to honestly and it sucks that even when I do skip a day it doesn’t seem to help

The last two times I’ve had the weirdest sensation at the end. I don’t even know how to explain it but it’s like I’m getting done twice almost. It’s a strange sensation that I’ve never felt before but I don’t have a good way of explaining it. It’s just weird to me how different it feels and I have no idea what’s causing it

It’s also bizarre to me that my :sweat_drops: is basically unchanged even though I shouldn’t be making much of the baby makers at this point. Balls are normal too, haven’t shrank again since trying HCG however many weeks ago.

No thyroid test results yet. I’m thinking they’ll be available Monday.

Damn man, maybe your frequency is just too high. If I had sex every day or even every other day, it would be a marathon with me too, and I’ve never had libido issues. Maybe try once or twice a week?

Stop trying take a month off. Trust me you’ll be ok. Woman are ok with intimacy over just sex. I honestly think you are trying too much with a broken instrument. Maybe you simply need to heal?

I had a similar issue. Many years ago I wasted time on docs and medicine. Eventually i gave it a couple months and my D worked as expected…

I’m sure it’d help make things easier but the sensation just isn’t normal regardless of how long I wait. Maybe the finasteride really did f me for good after all.

I’ve literally never in my life before all this not been good for at least once a day. I was the guy getting done TOO quick even at that frequency. The tables have turned I suppose.

I feel like shit today. Not sure what to do. Guess I’m waiting for thyroid labs then deciding from there. I’m not sure what else to do.

Probably wouldn’t hurt other than killing my self esteem. It’s almost worse that I’ve had a few weeks of normalcy along the way, like a tease almost.

Oh well. I’ll give it a break for a few days at least

Random question @ncsugrad2002 and you may have already mentioned this… But do you work out regularly?

On the frequency aspect… In June of this year, my wife and I went in a tear…had sex 12 times in 10 days. Took a one day break and had sex another 8 days in a row. I had some issues sprinkled in there with not being able to finish and going soft during sex. I thought it was my hormones, etc… I think we were just doing it too much.

We’ve scaled way back and go about once every 3 days and things are constant and I’m not having issues anymore.

I do not work out. I’ve been considering starting now that I might can actually get somewhere. I did in college years ago and could barely gain anything

I could handle dialing it back to 3-4x a week instead of everyday I think if it meant it being more intense/enjoyable. I’m going to try to give it a few days break and see how it goes

Get your ass in the gym. Sometimes I take a week off to let me body recover and I feel crap. Working out is a big part of getting the most out of TRT (for me at least). I know it’s hard to get in there when you don’t feel optimal but after a week of forcing yourself you’ll start looking forward to it. Plus after a few months you’ll look so much better that in itself will bring a ton of good stuff. The main reason I workout is because it really helps with depression which I’m extremely prone to. Get in the gym! You only need to lift weights for 30-45 mins to get results.

Thyroid results are in.

TSH - 1.77 [0.45 to 4.5]. Weird. This is the lowest my Tsh has ever tested at
Free T3 - 3.5 [2.0 to 4.4]
Reverse T3 - 18.0 [9.2 to 24]
Free T4 - 1.11 [0.81 to 1.77]

Similar to mine

TSH - 1.610 uIU/mL (0.450 - 4.500)
T3 Free - 3.5 pg/mL (2.0 - 4.4)
Reverse T3 - 21.1 ng/dL (9.2 - 24.1)
T4 Free - 1.21 ng/dL (0.82 - 1.77)

Almost identical, weird

@ncsugrad2002 what’s your next step? Have you given thought to going back to injections? Also, how is the abstinence going? I’d go for sex once a week for a couple months and see if your sensitivity comes back.

I’m honestly not sure what’s next. I’m curious what @enackers thinks about the thyroid labs but other than the rt3 they don’t look bad to me. But what do I know, they could be awful and I just don’t know any better.

I have and am still considering going back to injections. Long term it would be a lot easier to get injectable T from “other” sources for dirt cheap compared to through defy or for what cream costs. And it’s easier to control the dose imo. The creme applicator isn’t perfect dose wise and then there’s the issue of whether it’s being absorbed consistently or not over time. I guess bloodwork will tell the story there but yeah, I’d be 100% fine with injections again if I knew they would get me back to how I was.

I am going to tame down the sex. I don’t think I can do nothing for a month or anything at that level but I am going to try to keep it to 1-2x a week for a while. I actually had some late yesterday after not since I believe Thursday and things were a lot easier and more normal feeling. It just feels like I’m giving up when I give in to not having it more often that so that part sucks. We both like the more intense aspect that comes with less often (right now anyways) but it’s still a total mind fuck for me.

So, we’ll see I suppose. I wish I had done labs again back during the week I was feeling good just to see if anything had changed but too late now

For what it’s worth, As a random guy on the internet with a thyroid disease, i can tell you with nearly 100% certainty that your thyroid levels are not causing any of your sexual issues. You lab numbers look great to me. And it would be nearly impossible to find a doc that would prescribe meds to you with those numbers.

As far as injections go, I’d give it some serious thought. No one can guarantee that injections will fix your issues, but it is the gold standard for TRT and you’ll at least know you’re removing a variable going to injections.

Good to know on the thyroid numbers. There goes my theory of TRH increasing TSH/prolactin, oh well. I wonder my prolactin is over normal then.

I do see your point there. I mean, my blood levels are high so it’s clearly “working” from that perspective but I have no way of knowing if it’s consistent day to day.

I’m going to give it another week or two then have another consult with Dr Saya and get his opinion on what to do. In the back of my mind I’m going back and forth on whether my dose is too low or too high. I’m not sure what else there is to change.

Free t3 used to hit 6. Now it’s even lower. I’d try to increase it just a tad and see what that dose.

@enackers
Would you suggest T3 only or Armour and what dose starting out?

Not apples to apples @dextermorgan, but my starting thyroid numbers my Dr tested for were:

TSH - 3.53 uIU/ML (0.400 - 4.100)
T3 Total - 0.91 ng/ml (0.80 - 2.00)
T4 Total - 5.3 MCG/DL (4.5 - 11.7)
RT3 - 14.3 ng/dl (9.0 - 27.0)

These were my numbers after 7 months on 1.5 grains (90 mg) of armour thyroid.

I have since gone up to 2.5 grains a day (150mg) and switched to NP thyroid (not my choice, doc called it in because it’s cheaper I think). Waiting a little longer to get blood work done on this dose.

I’m no doctor and don’t fully understand if taking thyroid meds shuts down natural production like taking test does… But seems like your numbers are close to mine when I take 90mg armour. If it’s a replacement dose, I’d think you’d have to start with at least 90mg if armour, but probably higher.
