More teams in, but you want less blowouts!
More games, but you don’t want to pay for tickets!
Fewer High School teams yes, more college teams. Big gap between only 4 teams getting in vs having 6 weeks of playoffs.
I don’t mind paying for quality. Just bought 2 for last weeks Jerry World fun, ordered 3 for San Antonio. That doesn’t mean I want to be forced to pay $30 to watch a Jackson State blowout.
I think if you let the conference champs of the lower conferences in there would be some blowouts but there would be an occasional upset. It also might help recruiting knowing that they have a chance to play the big boys. This is the very thing that makes college basketball and baseball exciting, but in football we want this beauty pageant with a limited # of bluebloods who often havent been that good in years but they fill a lot of seats and capture a lot of tv sets.
It’s also a question of who gets hot and when. Look at OSU 2014, I didn’t think they belonged but they steamrolled everyone. Different sport but look at TCU baseball. Most years they don’t win the conference, but they always get hot about the time of the conference tournament and end up staying in Omaha longer than anyone else in the Big 12.
Sorry for the confusion Flats.
I threw in a Texas high school situation in there, where nearly everyone makes playoffs. Win 2 of 5-6 district games and make playoffs.
Just like the real world /s/
No chatter on here? Everyone happy about their bowls? Frogs to San Antonio. I can stay with friends and save on a hotel. Stanford has a good program.
Thoughts on Bama over OSU for the playoffs?
I think OU wins whole thing
Mayfield is going to believe his own hype, and try to go Extra Gun Slinger. He throws 3 interceptions (1 will be returned for a touchdown) against Georgia. Bulldogs get over 350 yards rushing in a TOTAL ROUT!
Hehe ^^^^ Sour grapes. Seriously, l hope Bama gets spanked.
But Georgia and Clemson do look formidable.
I saw both Bama and UGA were favored. Possibly an all SEC Nc, after the all SEC baseball finals in Omaha.
Don’t let some Know It All Vegas odds makers take all the wind out of your sails! These are great matchups, like classic strength vs strength, or cool Re matches. They should be great games.
As treco mentioned, I’ve seen OU and B Mayfield come back from 17 down before, even against an SEC team. Also, that team doesn’t seem like it would quit on the field. Rout may be an exaggeration.
Interesting read for stats nerds
Looking at you @ActivitiesGuy ;7)
The Armed Forces Bowl was in FW saturday. Great game, crazy finish. Happy Army won. Lookin forward to San Antonio and Stanford this week.
Back from the Center of the Universe aka San Antonio… How bout them Horned Frogs!
Congrats.
How about that Pac 12?
LOLOLOLOLOLOL
OU
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
OU was disappointing. Was ecstatic about the UCF game. If Bama had an offense they would be dangerous. This game may never end.
So we have an all SEC championship game after an all SEC CWS final.
Nearby Appalachain State beat up Akron. That was cool.
UCF had a great win. I hope they and Nebraska can both emerge as Big Time.
OU played out of their minds! I can’t believe you guys are disappointed. They overcame 5 sacks and an int to keep it close! Great game. That Reverse to Half Back Pass was awesome. I feel like I’ll remember that for awhile. Like the Music City Miracle or the Boise State hook and ladder.
Looking forward, UGA seems too 1 dimesional to defeat Alabama. But who knows!
OU/UGA was truly a game for the ages.
Much respect to UCF. Very surprising (to me), and very impressive.
As is their wont, my LSU Tigers managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. I hope Orgeron–whose ‘Cajun good ol’ boy’ act is starting to wear very thin–has a good candidate in mind to replace Canada as OC, because if he doesn’t, and LSU has another mediocre season, Orgeron will be out, despite the ludicrously generous buyout clause our AD Joe Alleva gave him. (Speaking of people who need to lose their job, I’d be willing to trade Alleva for a bucket of warm spit. Takers?)
Because OU is my rooting team and are Spikes Big 12 homies.
And it’s been too long since we scored the hardware,
Alabama 21
Georgia 17
Slug fest in the trenches, gonna be won and lost on the backs of the front 7 for both teams.
Less than 150 yards passing for each team.
100+ yards and a TD for Chubb
200+ combined rushing yards for 'Bama.
You heard it here first. (ESPN, call me!)
Very rough year for pac-12. Love that my B1G is looking good. Don’t mind Michigan losing, that is always enjoyable ![]()
As years go by I care less and less about the playoff and the championship. New Year’s Six gave lots of great games and interesting match-ups. Next week I have one game which is just an alternative SEC title game. I’ll flip it on, but probably will get things done around the house rather than pay close attention.
