Oh yeah and BENCH PERKINS ALREADY. yeesh.
Last thing: I suppose since they went in instead of missed, no one’s going to talk about LBJ’s 2 free throws to ice the game?
As someone who wants to see MIA win, I’m a little worried that they needed a superstar performance just to squeak out a win.
Even if Battier is consistently gets good looks from 3, he’s not going to shoot 70-80% from downtown (or whatever he shot) for the whole game.
Also are we going to talk about LBJ’s clutchness with the 2 FT at crunch time? Or does that not count?
Edit: Superstar performance from Battier
At least KD takes the high road so to speak, he just said he missed after the game and I dont think he really did the nba norm complain right after the play either. Seems like there was a play in game 1 down the stretch where james got the ball tipped away and it was still loose right by him and instead of grabbing the ball he was looking for a ref to complain to. sure every team complains but just seems like heat complain on almost every play or call/no call that goes doesnt go their way.
And I agree with whoever said perk needs to sit, they do alot better with serge or collison out there.

Wade in particular has been horrible about that this postseason. It’s been hurting them on D because he doesn’t get back while complaining.

It’s more that they just get killed having 2 bigs out there against Miami’s small lineups, whether it’s ibaka/perk or collison/ibaka or whoever. They only need 1 big on the floor at a time, and between Collison/Ibaka/Perk, I think Perk is the least effective of the 3.

LBJ and unsustainable performances from Battier are the only things keeping Miami from getting absolutely steamrolled. That, and Brooks’ unexplainable attachment to “Quicksand” Perkins.

Not to mention that bad-ass bank shot over Sefolosha to bail them out with the shot clock running down

Yeah thats what I meant as well one or the other not two out there at together
OKC should’ve received more calls. Not because they’re right but because they were home. Best believe Miami will get home court advantage calls. Other than that. As fast as these guys are it’s way to difficult to try to officiate. I’ve done it for college intramurals and every game one team hated me. You have to make a judgement call in less then 2 seconds.
I can’t figure out OKC’s defense, Battier should not have that many WIDE open 3’s. It’s as if they get hit with one screen and everybody gets lost. I think they may be too focused on Lebron and Wade. Battier has played great but I doubt he would be hitting floaters if OKC didn’t allow him to heat up with wide open shots in the first place.
Other than that it’s been great to watch. Lebron has played incredible, Wade had a great game 2. Durant has put in some pretty Jordanesq games in terms of cruising for 3 qtrs then turning it on in the 4th. I just wish Westbrook would force the issue a little earlier in the game, and harden would stop flopping and just play.
KD really coulnd’t complain about his last shot. That was a hard foul to see at game speed and he didn’t force the issue. If you want a foul like that at the end of the game you have to take it hard down the middle. Where you either make the shot or they put your ass on the floor.
Shout out to the 35+ Y/O!!! Fish and Batman I don’t have to give up balling yet

Oh look an Ohioan who’s mad at a Heat player.
Whatta surprise.

It was a joke.
LBJ has definitely improved his game. I remember a couple of years ago (or was it as recently as last year) people were lambasting him for not having a post-up game. Like scj alluded too that play where they dump it to LBJ has been money so far.
It’s surprising to see the OKC defence look so sluggish compared to the SA series where their D absolutely shut down SA’s offence. SA couldn’t move the ball effectively enough to get their shooters open like they had up to that point in the playoffs. Now all Miami has to do is run a few screens and get good off the ball movement and they have open shots. I can only explain it to the extent Miami is playing with a smaller and more athletic unit relative to SA and also how Miami’s defence (which is better than SA’s) is disrupting OKC’s game on both ends.
The more I watch these games the more I think confidence is one of the most important factors that could determine the winner. Both teams are young and at the top of the NBA in terms of athleticism so they cancel each other to some point. But I think OKC is more of a confidence team, even compared to Miami. OKC hasn’t been able to create separation so far and I think they’re getting discouraged at how Miami has been able to go shot for shot with them. If Miami (and LBJ) keeps some consistency in their play (i.e. no Wade 5-pointers) I think we could see them win this thing.

I’m not too worried about it. Chalmers only had 3 points and Haslem contributed almost nothing offensively. So even if Battier cools down, these guys can fill that void and step up. They’re definitely going to need someone outside Wade and James to step up every single game if they want to win this series. Haslem did it against the Pacers, I’m hoping he can step up again sometime during this series. A couple 6-8 FG games could go a long way. So would a 30 point game from Bosh. It’s a little tough with Ibaka guarding him though.
I brought up Lebron’s clutch FT’s and 12-12 overall last page. I guess there’s nothing to dispute there. Let’s just see how quickly folks get selective amnesia if he misses a few important ones later in the series.

Check out Battier’s 2nd slide step after he saw KD was about to go around him.
Tie goes to the runner (wait, that’s baseball) or should be a no call, which is what most of these stupid charge or block calls should be unless the offensive player is totally out of control, or the defensive player is disrupting the shooter’s shot.
For the Miami fans who seem confident: I remember 2 free points to the Heat on the incorrect call of goaltending on Ibaka after Durant had already blocked the shot, plus 3 lucky points to Battier banking in the 3 as the shot clock expired during the crucial stretch run.
Do you remember any free points or lucky shots for OKC?
