NBA Playoffs 2012

LOL @ the espn halftime crew calling out the heat “fans”

Love that show. The dream of the 90’s in alive in Portland.

x2 on LA being a front running sports town. If the Kings win the cup, that will be a big deal for a week, then hockey will be relegated back to obscurity.

Haha, I’ve only seen one episode in it’s entirety [the first one], but it had me rollin’. If you’ve never been, go check it out. That show nailed it.

Y’all see Duncan’s face after the game last night? Literally the only time I’ve seen him look anything other than bored and sleepy.
I never bothered to pay attention to stuff like this.

If he showed a lot of emotion you could’ve said he was “too emotional” but since his expression was blank he looked “bored and sleepy” or uninterested.

If Duncan killed it last night you could’ve said he has ice in his veins knows how to keep his composure under pressure. If he showed a lot of emotion and played well you could’ve said he has a fiery personality and is a fierce competitor.

Commentators do this stuff all the time.

I’ll be disappointed if Boston wins the East for the simple fact that OKC will trample them in the Finals.

A woman died at Bosh’s home today. Strange story, no foul play though.

You misunderstood. Duncan has never had another facial expression aside from bored/sleepy. Last night he looked worried. It’s THE ONLY time in his career I’ve seen him express any kind of emotion.

Man just caught the highlights.

Paul Pierce “The Truth.”

You know what they say, the “truth will set you free.”

Paul Pierce embodies John 8:32.

OKC will for sure beat Boston, which i cant endorse simply because screw OKC. No way i want the heat going to the finals tho

That’s my beef, exactly.

Did you guys see the Popovich interview last night? Between 3q/4q, he answered the mandatory two questions in a TOTAL of 4 words. It was hilarious. He cares way less than anyone about hiding his disgust for those interviews.
Phil Jackson shared the same disdain, but no one will ever sell it better than Pop.

I missed the entire game but caught plenty of post-game sports talk radio: apparently Coach Spo in some serious hot water (well, the sports talk radio version of “hot water” anyway) for not having Bosh out there for basically the entire 2nd half.

^^my wife and her family are from Seattle… Everyone up there that I know HATES the Thunder and her dad even routed for the Lakers in that series.

We watched a couple games together and he said “I never thought I’d actually be routing for the Lakers” lol

That area really does love their sports teams (not just basketball) I think it partly has to do with the crappy weather… Not too much to do outside year round so they are into watching their sports.
My girl’s from Portland, and I met her while I was living there with my cousin, who now lives in Seattle. People don’t understand that it drizzles 20+ hours a day, EVERYDAY, for 9+ months a year up there. Basketball is the one sport that can be played year round indoors, and EVERYONE up there plays. The Trailblazers haven’t won a championship since the mid 70’s but there are mural’s celebrating their victory all over the place. There are at least 10 dudes in the league right now from Seattle, and at least 5 from Portland. The weather is the same reason so many musicians and microbrews come from the area. If you can’t do shit outside you might as well excel at something indoors.
Bill Simmons often mentions how Blazers fans give him as much hate mail as like Lakers fans despite the huge difference in fan base sizes.
The only two places in the country with legitimate basketball fever are Portland and San Antonio, with the edge tipping slightly in SA’s favor. You’ll see people who have absolutely no affiliation with the Spurs deck their cars out with 10k paint jobs declaring their Spurs love. That’s not a joke, people will literally get professional Spurs paint jobs on their cars. Shit’s crazy.
I know you’re talking about pro ball, but here in KY, shit gets crazy for college hoops. lol

^ You wouldn’t include Los Angeles in there?
I was debating on putting them in there, but think I’m leaving 'em out and here’s why: Remember that three or so year stretch in the early-mid 90’s when the Lakers kinda sucked? Half their fans dipped. It’s LA, and when the Lakers are winning it’s cool to go to games. When they’re losing, no one really gives a shit. There are also several other pro sports teams to cheer for. In SA and Portland, basketball is the only game in town and people live and die with ther hometown team. People who don’t give a shit about sports sit around their tv’s to watch the Blazers play in Portland, and Blazers players are treated like royalty. It’s the same in San Antone. Should’ve taken pictures when I lived there, but there are literally several giant mural’s depicting the Blazers late 70’s championship still there, and people still celebrate it. Also, watch Portlandia. Everyone from Portland hates it 'cause they think it’s over the top, but that is REALLY how it is there. That place is fucking WEIRD.
I think it’s fair to say LAL HAS die hard fans, but their fan base is huge and also includes a lot of non-die hards. Whereas Portland’s fans are like 99.9% die hards.

Can we not rule out the Spurs just yet please? They won 20 in a row, I don’t think 2 in a row is impossible.

Unlikely, sure, but not close to impossible.

I also think that given enough games, it is only a matter of time till Pop outcoaches Brooks. Just hasn’t found the right adjustments yet.

Every fanbase has a group of diehard fans and every team gets bandwagoners once they start winning.

I think he’s saying the test for a hardcore fanbase is by the % of diehards that comprise set fanbase.

Which then makes me then wonder. How many hardcore fanbases exist throughout the big 4?

Also, depends how many sports are in town. Portland only has the Blazers. LA has Dodgers/Kings.
