NBA Playoffs 2012

I think Scott Brooks does fist pumps every time Boris Diaw tries to dribble penetrate.

I really thought SAS was unstoppable, but it’s getting hard to ignore the scoring differential after 18+ quarters. SAS has to work a lot harder for home leads than OKC.

I can’t believe I didn’t put money on OKC while everyone was nut hugging the Spurs

Oh boy here come the Spurs. This has easily been the best game in the series

I am so glad I stayed up for this game. Almost went to bed when SAS was down 10.

Game ended when Harden hit that ridiculous stepback 3 over Kawhi Leonard’s perfect defense. I hate basketball.

They shouldn’t have been by down so much at the end of the game. Props to the Thunder for totally disrupting the SA offence, which in turn affected the Spurs defensive intensity for 3Q of the game. The Spurs won all those games because they were a well oiled machine on offence and the Thunder have put a cog out of place.

The big difference has been Tim Duncan. This series has shown more than any other since the Memphis series last year that Tim Duncan is not the ‘Timmy’ from the past. He shouldn’t be leading the team in scoring but he should be ‘the guy’ for the majority of the game. Perkins and Ibaka are good defenders but Tim Duncan is probably the best power forward in the history of basketball.

You’re not going to win games when you allow the Thunder to shoot 50% unless you’re shooting that or above (but I think that is a direct result from the frustration the Thunder have been giving the SA offence).

I’m not counting SA out but they need to come out blazing in Game 6. If there’s any team out there that can do it it’s the Spurs.

clearly I jinxed SA earlier in the thread, apologies…

One thing I don’t like: Spurs won 20-some in a row… they lose a measley two games (on the road to a very good team) and he starts Ginobli over Green? You’re going to change the formula that won you an insane number of games just because of 2 losses? Unlike Pop to overreact like that.

Spurs coming back in early 3Q now.
is it an overreaction when you had to go out and win 2 out of 3 now? the momentum and confidence in the series swung okc’s way and pop prob just thought he needed to mix it up a bit. and ginobli seemed to respond with his best game in the series, he was on fire for 3 1/2 quarters and the only reason it stayed close imo.

but talk about bad calls at the end of the game what was westbrook supposed to do when he caught/raised the ball and parker ran his chin into his shoulder and flopped?

Where Amazing Happens

Duncan looked rejuvenated the past month, especially last round against LAC, but he got old-lookin’ in a HURRY. Can’t play at that level for long periods of time at his age/height.

There was some bad officiating in that game, ultimately though it was won on Harden’s improbable three and not on a bad call.

Tim Duncan will now fade into obscurity in 3…2…1…

What the flip San Antonio?

You guys go from 20 wins in a row while stomping a mud hole in every team you played (including OKC) to a bunch of broke dick old timers who can’t win a game in only 5 days? WTF?!? lol

Good for OKC. I really like Durant (not so much Westbrook/Harden and I absolutely dispise “looks like I just smelled some poop” Perkins) and it will be cool to see him get a ring. I hope they absolutely DEMOLISH the Heat.

Y’all see Duncan’s face after the game last night? Literally the only time I’ve seen him look anything other than bored and sleepy. Like everyone else, I don’t get how SA can steamroll the entire league for 20+ straight then be on the verge of 4 straight losses. It makes no sense.

We watched a couple games together and he said “I never thought I’d actually be routing for the Lakers” lol

That area really does love their sports teams (not just basketball) I think it partly has to do with the crappy weather… Not too much to do outside year round so they are into watching their sports.
My girl’s from Portland, and I met her while I was living there with my cousin, who now lives in Seattle. People don’t understand that it drizzles 20+ hours a day, EVERYDAY, for 9+ months a year up there. Basketball is the one sport that can be played year round indoors, and EVERYONE up there plays. The Trailblazers haven’t won a championship since the mid 70’s but there are mural’s celebrating their victory all over the place. There are at least 10 dudes in the league right now from Seattle, and at least 5 from Portland. The weather is the same reason so many musicians and microbrews come from the area. If you can’t do shit outside you might as well excel at something indoors.
Bill Simmons often mentions how Blazers fans give him as much hate mail as like Lakers fans despite the huge difference in fan base sizes.
The only two places in the country with legitimate basketball fever are Portland and San Antonio, with the edge tipping slightly in SA’s favor. You’ll see people who have absolutely no affiliation with the Spurs deck their cars out with 10k paint jobs declaring their Spurs love. That’s not a joke, people will literally get professional Spurs paint jobs on their cars. Shit’s crazy.

^ You wouldn’t include Los Angeles in there?

OK Dwyane Wade continues to play like horse shit and as a fan of the sport I hate it. He routinely jogs back on D with the refs while he complains about no-calls. Your team is already defending. Seriously it’s disgraceful.

Did you guys see the Popovich interview last night? Between 3q/4q, he answered the mandatory two questions in a TOTAL of 4 words. It was hilarious. He cares way less than anyone about hiding his disgust for those interviews.

I was debating on putting them in there, but think I’m leaving 'em out and here’s why: Remember that three or so year stretch in the early-mid 90’s when the Lakers kinda sucked? Half their fans dipped. It’s LA, and when the Lakers are winning it’s cool to go to games. When they’re losing, no one really gives a shit. There are also several other pro sports teams to cheer for. In SA and Portland, basketball is the only game in town and people live and die with ther hometown team. People who don’t give a shit about sports sit around their tv’s to watch the Blazers play in Portland, and Blazers players are treated like royalty. It’s the same in San Antone. Should’ve taken pictures when I lived there, but there are literally several giant mural’s depicting the Blazers late 70’s championship still there, and people still celebrate it. Also, watch Portlandia. Everyone from Portland hates it 'cause they think it’s over the top, but that is REALLY how it is there. That place is fucking WEIRD.
