It should be very interesting to see how the league handles this. If it’s up to me, nobody gets suspended (not even Big Shot Rob) and they decide to clarify that rule.
I was happy to see PHO show great mental toughness and steal that win. I’m still hoping we get to see anything other than a Jazz-Spurs West final.

EXACTLY. As soon as this round started, I was also hoping for any matchup except Jazz-Spurs.
PLEASE! I don’t know if I could watch a Jazz-Spurs series.[/quote]
Yeah it wouldn’t be the most entertaining series (but if it does happen, I hope the Spurs win). NBA fans will watch regardless of who plays, casual fans probably won’t watch it.
Although, for the Jazz, Carlos Boozer is really making a name for himself in the playoffs.

Yea Utah vs. SA would not be a good series at all. I mean who the hell wants fundamentally sound defensively minded basketball?
People here will refuse to admit it, but that Detroit vs. SA series a few years ago was one hell of a series, yet no one acknowledges this because they just want to see 145 point shooting extravaganzas to keep their simpleton minds interested. I mean teams like Utah, SA, and Detroit play the best and most effective basketball, so how the hell is that not interesting to watch?
Keep rooting for teams like Dallas and PHO, see if they ever win a championship with their score first mentalities. (though PHO did impress me last night with their mental toughness)

That’s being a little generous. People mostly just want to see high flying dunks and alley-oops. heh.

Slow down dude. It’s just inevitable that the pendulum (finally) swings back towards skilled offense and away from the all-defense philosophy of recent years. And it’s not just PHO and DAL (and GS), just look at DET under Flip Saunders.
You’re also focused on the “defensively minded” era without even considering the Showtime era that preceded it. Back in the 80’s, everyone could make an open jumper and skilled offenses ruled the day. Games were routinely in the 120’s in the the golden age of Magic, Bird, Jordan, Dominique, etc. The emphasis on team defense (started by Chuck Daly) was originally used to slowdown a superior offensive opponent, and continues to find success against the current crop of players with poor fundamentals and the inability to hit an open jumper.
But nice try though. Next time, just leave out all the assumptions and ignorance.
Edit: I just watched the clip again. Both players Diaw and Stoudemire were itching to join the scrum. Both of them did exactly what the law was established to address. That being said, the law is kind of tricky, a full-game suspension in the postseason is pretty harsh.
Bulls defeat 1) Pistons 108-92 - Ben Gordon had 28 points and Kirk Hinrich had 17 points and 13 dimes and the Bulls win a huge game in Detroit to go back to Chicago with the series 3-2 Detroit. Chauncey Billups and Rip Hamilton lead the Pistons with 17 and 16 respectively, but were outplayed bigtime in the third quarter.
Jazz defeat 8) Warriors 100-87 - Carlos Boozer and Andrei Kirilenko had 21 points each and combined for 29 rebounds and the Jazz close out the series 4-1, making them the first team to make it to the conference finals this season. Baron Davis had 21, and Stephen Jackson had 16, and once again, the Warriors had an opportunity to take this game, but couldn’t do it. They will learn from this year’s experience and be back better and smarter next year.
TMONEY1’S NEAT-O STUD OF THE NIGHT, SPONSORED BY T-Nation: Derek Fisher. He had 20 points, including 4-5 from three-point land, and his playoff experience and clutch shooting were beneficial in helping the Jazz finish off the Warriors.
What a CROCK! Like the Spurs are really gonna miss “cheap shot Horry”. This series is fixed for the dirty Spurs. Now watch the Suns win despite everything… go Suns!

If the Spurs win the series Horry should get the series MVP, but rules are rules I guess…
The reason I don’t like seeing teams like the Spurs or the Pistons that much is that I like seeing new players step up and teams who haven’t been there before. Seeing the same teams with the same players gets old. I’ll watch no matter what, but I won’t enjoy it as much because it’s nothing new.
There’s something to be said about the unpredictable. If the Spurs face the Jazz, that series will be so predictable, with SA picking the Jazz apart and probably winning in 5 games. With teams like GS and Phoenix, you never know what’s going to happen. You might see a great play that nobody on the Spurs would ever make. We had Baron’s dunk on Kirilenko, Nash’s incredible passes.
I think a lot of us just like seeing different teams step up and knock off the regulars. And what’s wrong with scoring? Good defense isn’t always just holding your opponent to 85 points. Golden State plays good defense in terms of turning the other team over and getting the pace in their favor… they just can’t rebound worth a damn, which was their downfall.

Hey if Tim Patterson or TC can get them there in time for game 6 in Chicago, it’s all good Laurie.
I think they will win game 6 in Chicago. They have lost 2 straight, and they are too good to lose 3 straight, especially in the postseason.
In the 96 Finals, the Bulls went up 3-0 on the Sonics, lost back to back games, and won game 6 and the title. I think the Pistons will be fine.
Just out of curiosity, why was everyone pulling for GS? they could be the dumbest team in basketball: They jack up far too many 3’s, get frustrated when one defender has their way with them and end up throwing awful shots as a result of it. (Stephen Jackson, when Harping was having his way with him)
They barely run any offensive sets and take everything one on one. Though I must admit, they are tough defensively, but it just seems like there is no rhyme or reason to their offensive play. It seems like Utah is solid all around, besides their free throw shooting, and I believe they can give SA or PHO a run for their money.
