NBA Lockout

It really makes a difference when a team has a big man in the middle that you have to deal with, plus a defensive minded coach equals improvement.

I liken the ridiculous MVP balloting to the voting for the all star game, theyll vote for Yao Ming this year if they could…I take it with a grain of salt.

I hope the media craze doesent sour people on Lin, it isnt his fault the media loves to beat people over the head with stuff. But if you look at the individual there is nothing not to like.

Knicks got JR Smith, knicks will cut balkman, who Dantoni never liked and I always felt could have been a valuable rotation player.

I dont know how Novak and Walker are gonna get time with another black hole in Smith coming aboard. Im not sure how this will work out.[/quote]

Smith is a great pickup for ya’ll. He’s easily one of the 5 most talented guys in the league, he’s just a knucklehead and hasn’t figured it out yet. You’ll find he’s a much better passer and ballhandler than you’re giving him credit for.

D’antoni is playing this game like a playoff game.

He won’t let the clock run out.

Just when you think the Knicks have it figured out, they lose to the Hornets. The fuckin’ Hornets.

Oh come on. One of the 5 most talented in the league? Please.

He is SUPER talented but that’s a little much. Also there is a reason someone as talented as him never got signed for big cash - he’ll drive you nuts sometimes.

Just understand he will single handedly win you games and lose you games. It’s part of the package. But he’s better than Jared Jeffries.

So when are going to talk about the unknown foreign guy who is lighting up the league? I am talking of course about Nikola Pekovic on Minnesota. He’s scored in double figures every game this month (18ppg/11rpg in February) and put up a 30 and 12 last night. If Minnesota has consistent production at center, look out. All they have to do is fill that SF slot with something other than the steaming pile of shit who usually gets minutes there (the dreaded Wes Johnson/Martell Webster/Micheal Beasley combo).

For the record I don’t think Beas is a horrid player but he’s a bad 3. Needs to play the 4 and exploit matchups that way… but Minn is stacked at the 4.

Jeremy Lin, New York Knicks ‘Chink in the Armor’: ESPN Apologizes

Lin has 45 turnovers in his 7 starts, the most ever by a player in his first 7 career starts.

See Lin is amazing…lol the TOs are way too much, he had 7 in the first half but only 1 in the second…if he had 4 turnovers and knicks made their foul shots, they would have won. Obviously cant win them all.

Pecovic is an absolute beast, he gave Chandler so much trouble when they played, he was more impressive then Love when they played event though love had a better stat line.

Yes, EASILY. He has the deepest range in the league, is the best dunker in the league, is THE ONLY guy in the league (maybe in league history) who jumps as well off either leg or both, has a ridiculous handle and can get his shot any time he wants. He’s a straight up knucklehead though, and has never fully put it together. He has 25, 5&5 potential guaranteed, it’s just up to him to realize it.

Is anyone still wondering why he bounced around in the D-league and was cut prior?

I’ll be very surprised if he’s a starting PG next year for the full season.

I am hoping to be surprised though; his long term success would make a nice story.

I tried to watch him last night but couldn’t. When I watch some decent minutes from him, I’ll have a better opinion about his abilities.

You had me until…“best dunker in the league” What does that matter?

I’m not nitpicking with you; it’s just a pet peeve b/c the whole Sportcenter highlight shit/dunking is ruining the development of a lot of young players (high school, college).

Since you had ups though, I do understand why it catches your attention. But it’s such a limited, minute part of the game.

Exactly.

And I got really tired of the ignorance in the Jeremy Lin thread.

Haha, it was just to illustrate his talent. His bag of tricks is pretty deep across the board. And what do you mean “had”, Haha?

Continuing on Lin, yes he had a bad Half yesterday, but it was amazing to see how the Knicks offense screeched to an absolute halt when he left the game. When Shumpert ran the point every player just stood there and they settled for jump shots.

Lin’s abilities are not out of this world, but he has good abilities, sees the floor well and most importantly does his job well.

Just as its not fair to call him a fucking MVP after 8 games its unfair to judge him on a bad half and stats. If that were the case how come no is mentioning the 3 steals and the 20 points he dropped AGAIN, not to mention getting to the line 10 times AGAIN.

He had only 1 turnover in the second half and recognizes his need to obviously protect the ball better. However anyone who has the ball that much is not going to have low turnover numbers.

There is no reason not to remain optimistic. I am not saying he is the next top 5 pg, anyone who is, isnt being honest but he can be a very solid STARTING pg for years to come.

Lins pros - good passer, excellent acceleration, fearless, gets to the paint, sees the floor well, gets to the line and is humble.

Cons - not a great shooter (not as horrible as people make out either), defensive liabliity and turnovers.

lets hold judgement totally on him to the end of the season.

He has had the most points in his first set of starts since the merger. I’m pretty sure that more than offsets his turnover numbers. High risk, high reward. I don’t get what you expected. He’s basically only now getting exposed to the rigors of the NBA. If you include him as a rookie he’d lead in the ROY ladder.

No. I hate to get all mathematical on you like our other friend, but it’s only a few games. And no, the PG position in the NBA does not get played in a “high risk high reward” style. Turnovers are very frowned upon from that position. It will get your ass glued to the bench. And he would NOT be a leading ROY contender after a 7-8 game performance.

By the way, turnovers cost a MINIMUM of 3 points; the two you didn’t get plus the points they score off the turnover. TO’s are huge and not something you want from your PG who has the ball in his hands the most.

I look at the rim now and wonder how the hell I ever got up that high. I’m sure I can still grab it though.

I’m rooting for him. It’s a nice story. I just don’t see full time starter in his future. I hope I’m wrong.
