NBA Lockout

Maybe not as much as Nash, but he’s certainly pushing the ball. Magic Johnson averaged 4.6 TOs one season. Point is that is really the only thing you can knock Lin for at this point, and it isn’t as bad as it looks.
While Lin def deserves some slack for the TOs, can we all agree to stop mentioning him and Stevie Nash in the same sentence??

Somewhat relatedly, the league has always had at least one run-and-gun squad that just tried to outscore their opponents. Anyone remember those DEN squads in the 80s, those classic PHO-DAL playoff matchups, and this current GS squad of course.

Point being, it’s hardly a recipe for success in the playoffs so enjoy it while it’s good…

Haters gonna hate

But defense is, we all agree on that, and very sneakily and unsuspectingly the Knicks team defense has statistically become a top 15 defense. They have played good defense ALL YEAR, and Woodson has changed that around, so while Ill enjoy the run and gun no doubt, Ill also enjoy the lasting defense into the playoffs, Ill enjoy Chandler, Jeffries and shumps Defense and Lins offense thanks

fucking 11 years of basic futility and haters still come out of the woodwork, though from the NFL thread I kind of expect it from you.

edit meant to say top 15 defense…my bad…just dreaming of the 90s lol

I dont have much hate for the Raptors since Vinsanity and 2001 so there isnt much to rub in, I know how it feels to root for a franchise with no hope.

Im psyched, and hope Lin can get past the hoopla and cement himself as a an excellent pg
In his post game interview you can tell he’s not letting it go to his head. Praised his team mates, admitted he couldn’t play defense on Calderon/Barbosa, etc. 27 pts 11 ast on 45% shooting, including a game tying and 1 and then of course the game winning 3. Man I love this kid.

People who read box scores and didn’t watch the game are going to talk about his TOs, but I think they will decline as he gets more and more comfortable. Your PG is going to get the lion’s share of TOs in a D’Antoni system, even Steve Nash has averaged ~4 TOs per game. Plus if you watched the game, a few of them were fumbles by Amare (who looked awful last night) and Chandler, plus a few lost jump balls.
You also have to mention how Lin is basically a rookie out there playing high level basketball and managing the sudden and enormous spotlight he’s been put under. Honestly, his ability to play this good out of no where and do it when he knows everyone is watching his every move is amazing. The game-winning shot and his composure in the last minute of the Raptor’s game showed how he’s strong psychologically without any tangible experience at the NBA level. I think it’s a testament to the power of spiritual awareness that comes from faith.

^ I just shedded a tear, thanks bro!

anyone watch the rising stars draft? pretty exciting and entertaining. love the format with shaq and chuck.

i think chucks gonna win with his team.

chuck:
pg-kyrie irving/john wall
sg-marshon brooks
sf-gordan hayward
pf-derrick williams/tiago splitter
c-paul george/demarcus cousins

shaq has too many pgs in norris cole, kemba walker, brandon knight, jeremy lin imo

lol what a shitstorm I started in the Jeremy Lin thread!

NY is a top 10 defense bro. It’s amazing to think one guy (Chandler) could make that much of a difference but I can’t think of any other reason that’s helping (maybe Mike Woodson? Hawks were always good on D).

Knicks play a fast pace so you can’t look at points per game - points per possession allowed is better. They are 8th.

Only Lin could take the worst advisable shot and Draino it. Kid defies all rational explanation.

But he is now 10th on NBA.com’s MPV ballot after 6 games of playing. Come on…

It really makes a difference when a team has a big man in the middle that you have to deal with, plus a defensive minded coach equals improvement.

I liken the ridiculous MVP balloting to the voting for the all star game, theyll vote for Yao Ming this year if they could…I take it with a grain of salt.

I hope the media craze doesent sour people on Lin, it isnt his fault the media loves to beat people over the head with stuff. But if you look at the individual there is nothing not to like.

Knicks got JR Smith, knicks will cut balkman, who Dantoni never liked and I always felt could have been a valuable rotation player.

I dont know how Novak and Walker are gonna get time with another black hole in Smith coming aboard. Im not sure how this will work out.

I agree.

Meanwhile the Spurs have won 9 straight and Miami is on fire…

The Miami Heat are the best team in basketball. They are without a doubt the favorites to win the championship this year. No excuses this time round. Get it done Lebron!

Lin is playing out of control has like 8 turn overs in the first half, Knicks were severely outplayed but its close…Amare is playing lights out.

haha Jeremy Lin on pace to break the record for most turnovers in a game by an individual player set at 14 by J-Kidd in 2000. He’s got 8 (and counting) before the half.

C’mon Lin-sanity - concentrate.

D’Antoni doesn’t care though. He’s working Lin like a horse out there. Played nearly the whole game so far.

Are the Knicks really going to lose to the Hornets?

The difference is the Lin TOs.

looks like it’s over
