They are a mirage.
2nd Round playoff team and that’s it.
Doug Collins does deserve Coach of the Year honors though.
Sixers need a stud.
Nuggets East. They are built to be an awesome regular season team, lots of talented depth but will struggle to beat teams with elite players and elite defenses 4 times in 7 games.
I said it earlier in this thread. The league is superstar driven. They need a stud or two.
Given the foregoing (and I agree with your analysis) they are no different than when they were struggling to make the play-offs or were a first round exit. If the goal is to win Championships, and you have not fielded a team that has a reasonable chance and/or expectation to do so, what’s the point?
Philadelphia is a basketball city. We understand this. And it’s why Sixers’ attendance has sucked since AI and Larry Brown willed them and overachieved to a Finals appearance.
That said, it’s worth repeating that Doug Collins should be a favorite for Coach of the Year. They share the ball, they play defense and players improve. And in the NBA, that speaks volumes.
So Lin had a pretty good half offensively, 9pts on 4/9 shooting but had 4-5 TOs.
He has been pretty bad on defense though. Calderon torched him for 12pts in the 1st quarter
He’s en route for a triple double tho: 18pts, 12 assists, 10 turnovers
To add to the Tebow comparison, Lin stated he wants to be a pastor after he finishes his basketball career.

Hey Matty if you’re watching the game, check out the raptors logo on the out of bounds just behind the basket.
It’s painted in a manner so that it looks like a 3d banner that standing up. First team in the league to adopt it.
If you see it in person like from the player angle, it looks all weird.
Holy shit thats sick…they were just commenting on it on NBA tv, it really is an impressive paint job…
Lin has been distributing the shots well, the turnovers are alarming. Raptors look to be in a higher gear so far…
Damn Calderon is exposing Lin.
C’mon Lin, you can do it.
Mike D’Antoni team that scores only 77 points isn’t going to win many games…

2 Nights in a row with these late losses.
First Kobe, now Lin.

Yeah, as soon as they put Shumpert on Calderon it ended.
I don’t even wanna know what MattyXL is doing right now.
I dont have much hate for the Raptors since Vinsanity and 2001 so there isnt much to rub in, I know how it feels to root for a franchise with no hope.
Im psyched, and hope Lin can get past the hoopla and cement himself as a an excellent pg

In his post game interview you can tell he’s not letting it go to his head. Praised his team mates, admitted he couldn’t play defense on Calderon/Barbosa, etc. 27 pts 11 ast on 45% shooting, including a game tying and 1 and then of course the game winning 3. Man I love this kid.
People who read box scores and didn’t watch the game are going to talk about his TOs, but I think they will decline as he gets more and more comfortable. Your PG is going to get the lion’s share of TOs in a D’Antoni system, even Steve Nash has averaged ~4 TOs per game. Plus if you watched the game, a few of them were fumbles by Amare (who looked awful last night) and Chandler, plus a few lost jump balls.

Steve Nash’s Suns in their heyday were much more of a run and gun offense. It’s a style more prone to TOs. Lin isn’t pushing the ball up the floor the way Nash was.

Maybe not as much as Nash, but he’s certainly pushing the ball. Magic Johnson averaged 4.6 TOs one season. Point is that is really the only thing you can knock Lin for at this point, and it isn’t as bad as it looks.
It seems when you have the ball that much and play that many minutes TO’s are gonna happen, but 8 is still way too much.
Reports out of NY are stating that before the recent winning streak in the game vs Celtics where they lost by 2, it was Melo imploring D’antoni to put in Lin in the game in the second half. It seems as if (or at least the reports say) that Melo has enjoyed watching him in 3 on 3 drills in practice and has been wanting him to play.
I got my Lin Knick Jersey today…Im all in!
