Its amazing how your offense changes when you have a point guard that could do a few things well like the basic idea of…
NOT PICKING UP YOUR DRIBBLE!!!
he has a real ability to get to the basket and man this dude has to be Amare’s wet dream. Hes not exactly fast but he is quick, he gave deron williams a shitload of problems. I dont think we will see Baron Davis at all this year.
I obviously dont expect these numbers to last, but I think they may have found a real diamond in the rough with him. If he gets starting minutes consistently he will put up close to DD assist numbers I mean fuck he actually turned Jarred Fucking Jeffries into an offensive player yesterday…if he wasnt such a stiff offensively he would have had 20 points too.
Dantoni said that they tried to get him last year but at the time felt he was too much of defensive liability. Which I find ironic coming from Dantoni. Im keeping my fingers crossed.

Where are all the Knicks fans saying Jeremy Lin is going to lead them to the promised land?
I mean if they said that about Mozgov, Landry Fields, and Iman Shumpert, surely Lin can get the next “Guy Who Ends Our Problems” label.
edit: I swear to God I did not see that post above me when I wrote this. Impeccable timing is impeccable.[/quote]
Not one of those players got that label, we were excited about young players who have some ability…which we didnt have for about a decade because we traded all of our picks. Every team tries to find a player and we hoped for that in Mozgov and Fields, both guys who were basic afterthoughts.
Lin’s value is not in his jumper its in his ability to run an effective pick and roll, excellent dribble and he could get to the basket, he has the ability to be an effective player. Coaches and team will scout his weaknesses and he wont be putting up these spectacular numbers but I do believe he will be valuable.
at full strength Melo and Amare, we need a facilitator not a scorer…he may be able to provide that.

I agree but the pick and roll becomes dramatically less effective if you aren’t a threat to shoot, because teams go under the screen every time. It’s why the Nash-Amare PnR was so dangerous - it wasn’t just that he was a great passer, he’s also an incredible shooter, and that combination makes it impossible to defend. Especially when the screener is good at slipping the screen and diving to the hoop as Amare is/was.
In all seriousness Just look at the ball distribution from tonight’s game everybody who had significant playing time average between 10-12 shots, awesome. It will be very interesting to see how this plays out when Melo comes back…I was listening on the radio and they make a good point Amare should benefit from Lin easily.
CARMELO…r u listening this is Lins team now…your our third option
Its also ironic that the knicks could hardly beat the bullets with Amare and Melo yet they destroyed them w/o them.
Ehhhh look at the post above they beat them w/o their main players, when they could hardly beat them with Melo and Amare earlier. There is reason for guarded optimism. He does what we need him to do, which is be a facilitator of the game and make other players better.
I can understand your negativity I mean your root for the Raptors right? Well at least you have the pride of Canada on your team, Jamaal Magloire.
Up until last year my team has been awful for a decade so I will get as optimistic as I want.

You mean 2x MVP Steve Nash. Jamaal Magloire went to my high school though.
Hey, get as optimistic as you want, no matter how misplaced it is ;).
I saw parts of the game. Lin has some crafty moves and looks around the basket. I want to see him do it against a team that has a real NBA defensive strategy though. The Wizards’ PnR defense was just straight up atrocious. 2 of the 3 teams Lin has torched have been the Nets and Wizards… 2 of the worst 5 defensive teams in basketball. The other team was Utah who is a bottom-10 defensive team despite a strong interior presence because their point/wing D is THAT bad.
I want to see Lin drive against a team with a big man who is at least mediocre at hedging and a point guard with enough sense of mind to go under a screen and not get beat to the hoop. Seriously, Wall was going under screens and still getting beat by Lin. He’s not Derrick Freaking Rose with speed, that shouldn’t happen.
Let’s see him put up 20 and 7 against well-coached defensive teams and I’ll start believing. He’s getting all his points at the hoop and generally slow guards don’t do that against sound defensive teams.

You know you have bad defense when Linus Kleiza lights you up for ~30pts.
I don’t remember what is final stat line was, but at one point he was 11/15 FG.

Even more relevant, a crappy PG (Jerryd Bayless) scored 30 that night.
^^^ Bayless is in no way a crappy point guard. He’s definitely more of a combo, but when he gets minutes he puts up serious numbers. He also has one of the 5 best first steps in the league.

He’s got no shot, and some times makes some very bad decisions with the ball.
I agree he has potential to be much better though.

He’s shooting right at 40% from 3, but he does admittedly force some tough shots. He’s got “Russell Westbrookitis” in that he can get to the rim at will but settles for contested 15-17 footers way too often. There’s no reason a guy with his ability should be shooting under 40% on total fg’s
Kemba Walker (averaging 14/5/5 with bad shooting) had a triple double against the Wizards.
In the Raptor’s previous game against them, Calderon had 17 assists and Barbosa had 19pts.

Lol if shooting 40% from three gives him NO EXCUSE to be shooting 39% overall (as you said).
I didn’t say he doesn’t have potential, but at this point in time, he’s in his 4th season and averaging 11pts/3asts in 24mins/game on 39% shooting. At some point potential has to equal production.
Yeah he’s fast as shit, but it hasn’t added up yet.
