NBA Lockout

The announcer just said Roy Hibbert gained 15lbs in the offseason and built up to a 500lb squat.

Impressive for a guy as tall as him.

I seriously doubt the legitimacy of that squat.

In other news, the Lakers look like shit. I said it in the middle of last season and I’ll say it again: Gasol needs to go. Apparently the Nets are looking to move Williams. They need to make that happen 'cause Gasol’s confidence is shot and Fisher is a backup at this point in his career. Bryant had a couple of off nights but has put back-to-back 30+'s on the board with a high amount of assists, but everyone else is playing uninspired.

And about the Howard/Bynum thing: the refs took Bynum out of the game early with bullshit calls, but you have to like the way Bynum handled it. He didn’t blame anyone but himself and requested another shot at Howard.

Here’s a vid of him squatting 400lb

If that’s how his 500lb squat was done, then yes I believe it, but it is somewhat disingenuous to claim a high box safety squat as a normal squat. That said, ‘high’(2-4") box squats are an incredible movement for athletes.

This proves my point. A quarter depth box squat is not a squat.

Well fuck if thats a squat im loading up 7 plates on each side next time…what a fucking joke.

Just like when I called out this report of Tiki Barber FRONT SQUATTING 1100 POUNDS! I emailed the gym owner and basically said I want proof (Joe Carini’s gym, at one time strongest man in NJ) he basically told me to fuck off and told me to come to his gym so I can meet him personally I guess to fight him lol.

See shit like this pisses me off, because outside of like minded individuals like us people are gonna see this and say this is legit. Fuckstump Hibbert is telling all his teammates as well.

There may be a box, but that’s not a box squat. He doesn’t physically sit down on the box, his butt makes slight contact with the box and he shoots up.

That’s about what I was expecting since he’s 7’2.

That’s as good as you’re gonna get for someone at 7’2.

FTR this is what I consider a box squat

That’s why I said “quarter depth box squat”. That is exactly what he’s doing in the bid.

i think skip’s and stephen a smith’s analysis on nba stuff are both spot on, hilarious and enlightening.

Skip Bayless is an embarassment to NBA analysts.

I wouldn’t have emailed him (who cares?) but I def would have accepted his offer to come to his gym. Like, wtf dude, really? LOL

I think they’re comments are absolutely accurate.

A few other observations:

Can you imagine if a white broadcaster called LBJ “boy”??? It would be the end of the fucking world as we know it and you couldn’t get rid of Al Sharpton for the next year until some 15 year old New Yorker falsely claimed rape against the KKK.

I think they make a great point about “talent” v. “best player” and it was really where I was at when we originally started debating Kobe. LBJ is unquestionably the most talented guy in the game, and for that matter, he may very well be more “talented” than even MJ. “Best player” and all this other crap is a big beauty contest anyway, with all the variables you can throw at it. That’s why for me, as a former player, “best player” is who I want on my team in that one and done game and under that analysis, a healthy Kobe is unquestionably the better player than LBJ. In fact, I still wouldn’t take anyone else in the league at his position.

I did care, it does bother me that a general media outlet would spew this nonsense when its totally false, it was also the NY Post so I guess I should understand. We did email back and forth and it calmed down a little but the invitation is still open, who knows maybe I will.

Good lord, Smith and Bayless have to be 2 of the most irritating guys on the planet. Couldn’t watch more than a minute of either video.

that’s why i said they were funny. they squabble like two old women. But imo, what they speak the truth. they don’t hold back for fear of public backlash or whatever, and says what needs to be said. (:

agree with the ‘talent’ vs ‘best player’ statement too. and the fact that lebron has no heart or killer instinct. same with dwight, he needs to stop joking around and just get that kobe instinct.

Matty my friend, you said "general media outlet) and “nonsense” and “false” - you have your answers! Add the Post, which is barely a real newspaper and…well.

Did dude actually try to support the wild claim?
