NBA Lockout

I think Howard knows HOW to play man-to-man post defense, I just think he doesn’t have the leg strength. It looks like he only works out his upper body and has spindly-ass legs - leg strength is way more important for keeping opposing Cs from backing you down and knocking them off the block. You can’t just punch them or standing-bench-press them.

“Yameer” Nelson is abusing Fisher right now. LA has to tighten up that D.

Why the hell does Mike Brown keep playing Kobe down to the wire in these blowouts?

Can’t believe I’m about to say this but… time for the Clippers/TWolves game!!

just saw nba game time highlights. KEVIN LOVE GAMEWINNING 3! ALL STAR BABEH! and dwight howard just proved that he’s the most dominant centre in nba now. he got double of andrew bynum’s points and rebounds/ bynum and gasols total points and rebounds. his post moves have improved(hook shots). now he needs to work on his free throws.

True enough.

If I were to venture a guess, they likely laid out an agreement after he was caught 2003. If he cheated again he would have to give up half his shit to her. He was probably caught again. So in that sense, the always wanting more attribute worked against himm
they made the 10 year mark. in CA that means he gets half his shit. it is what it is. he shoulda listened to his parents.
I read somewhere that she waited until just a few months after the 10 year mark to file the divorce knowing it would mean she got a shitload more money.

This kind of thing shouldn’t bother me, I don’t even like Kobe. For some reason it just infuriates me when these cheap hoes who have lived lives better than they or 99.99% of the population could ever dream of, never had to work a day in their life and have no real talent or ability rob these guys for every cent they can get.
you gotta believe he was pretty unaware/clueless or self-absorbed to get hit with this at the 10 year mark.

getting married young - bad decision.
getting married without prenup (for him) - bad decision.
cheating and embarrassing your wife the world over - bad decision.
not seeing this coming - clueless.

How good the marriage have been after he was caught cheating and charged with rape?

That would be pretty maniacal to wait 8 years to divorce a guy just so you can get half his money.
not really when you consider the lifestyle she was living when he got caught. i’m sure she didn’t want to pack her shit and go back to normal.

Define normal.

I can’t imagine her walking away without getting a huge chunk of change.

Just to touch on the sometimes very dumb opinion of players, here’s a recent gem from Shaq:

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard is a three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year and a five-time All-Star, but that wasn’t enough for Shaquille O’Neal to call him the best big man in the game.

O’Neal, now a TNT analyst after retiring during the offseason following a sure-to-be Hall of Fame 19-season career in the league, bestowed that distinction on Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum during a recent telecast.

“The best big man in the game is Andrew Bynum,” O’Neal said.

Bynum and Howard went head to head in the Magic’s 92-80 win over the Lakers on Friday, and Howard got the best of Bynum, finishing with 21 points, 23 rebounds and one blocked shot to Bynum’s 10 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks.

“I’m not going to say I didn’t hear it, because I’d be lying, but I don’t pay attention to it,” Bynum said when asked about O’Neal’s comments. “It’s tough to watch the broadcast when you’re probably playing in the game, you know?”

Bynum did not show any outward signs of flattery after being told what O’Neal had said about him.

“That’s fine,” Bynum said. “I think if I get a lot of opportunity, I can definitely do some of the things he can.”

Howard addressed O’Neal’s remarks at the Magic’s shootaround Friday morning.

“He’s mad about ‘Superman,’” Howard said, according to the Orlando Sentinel. “I didn’t know he made it up. I didn’t know Superman came from Shaquille O’Neal.”

Added Howard: “I would suggest he’d just sit down and get on with his life. He don’t play no more, so what’s the point of talking trash? It’s not like we’re wrestlers and we get to battle it out. Who cares?”

Bynum, who was sidelined with three early fouls and finished the game with five whistles against him, said he wishes the lockout-shortened season included another game against the Magic.

“I want to play again, just to get some shots on offense,” said Bynum, who was 4-for-6 from the field and 2-for-5 from the foul line. “I think I only got six shots tonight, so I wasn’t able to kind of go back at him. I think every play was … some kind of screen at the elbow, and he gets a touch on the block. So, I took myself out of the game early, and he was able to come back and have a decent second half.”

Prior to Friday’s game, Bynum and Howard had played 10 times against one another in their careers, splitting the games 5-5. Howard averaged 20.4 points, 12.3 rebounds and 2.4 blocks on 58.7 percent shooting in 36.9 minutes per game, while Bynum averaged 8.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.5 blocks on 49.3 percent shooting in 21.2 minutes per game.

This season, Bynum was averaging 16.3 points, 13.8 rebounds and 1.9 blocks on 52.9 percent shooting coming into Friday’s game, while Howard was averaging 20.1 points, 15.6 rebounds and 2.4 blocks on 58.7 percent shooting.

“It wasn’t about Dwight Howard night, it wasn’t about Andrew Bynum night, it was about the Magic and the Lakers,” Howard said after the game. “And that was the only thing that was on my mind was getting a win. There’s no need to go back and forth about me and him. We play the game different ways, we both have an objective and that’s to win. He’s won two rings, and I’m trying to get mine. I try to lead by example by going out every night and giving 100 percent.”

Yeah but Howard’s response is equally stupid. He just sounds arrogant in his reply. Firstly, even though it’s Shaq’s opinion, it’s still an opinion and he’s entitled to it. Saying he’s being disrespectful to you is another way of saying I’m offended you don’t think I’m the best center in the league.

Dwight should have said something funny instead.

I asked the same question, my buddy said it’s because he thinks Kobe took him aside and said he wants to pass people on the all time points list.

My problem with that theory is that it doesn’t explain why he’s also playing Bynum and Gasol in the same situations.

And as a bulls fan: why is Thibs playing Deng 40 mins/night? We have enough wing depth to win games if he gets 30-35mins, and we need him way more in May than we do now.

Watched the 2 OTs in Nuggets-Knicks. Amare somehow had no baskets in 4Q or OT other than a random desperation 3pter that randomly went in. This Knicks team is full of square pegs being jammed in round holes. Both overtimes featured zero offensive plays and Melo trying to score by himself over and over again. Shockingly, it didn’t work.

Edit: It was hilariously ironic to watch Gallinari dominate Melo in that matchup.

Yeah Knicks fans maybe regretting that trade. Gallinari dominating.

It’s getting to the point where I can’t watch a raptors game more than once a week.

Will be tuning in tonight for Indiana-LA

Right now it looks really bad…Timofey Mozgov also played really well…last year when this knicks team was a team it was really exciting ball to watch wilson chandler, Fields, Amare, Felton, Gallo and Turiaf/Mozgov was fun to watch they played like a team…this is deplorable.

The fact remains that the biggest issue is their bench they have fucking 0 players coming off the bench, the past 3 or 4 games I think they averaged about 9 - 11 points off the bench…when the starters are in they are either winning or close…but when you add reserve players like the Jared Jeffries (the worst player in the league) Toney Douglas (hurt and confidence is shot) and Josh Harrelson (good player but a rookie 2nd round draft pick) is it any wonder why there losing?

Jared Jeffries may be sucking James Dolan’s dick because this guy shouldnt be in the league…it boggles my mind how the 11th overall pick has absolutely no NBA skills. How he is playing over Renaldo Balkman (who when he does play always makes something happen) boggles my mind.

Im praying the Knicks somehow get Wilson Chandler back and Baron Davis has something left.

This recent losing streak may be in a way good cuz it may spell the end of Dantoni.

Lets also be real here when Donnie Walsh was the GM he did not want to do the Melo deal, he knew it was too much. This deal happened because the Dolan forced Walsh’s hand. I will say at the time I was OK with the deal because the idea of Melo in NYC was just too tempting.

The fact remains, if they didnt pull the trigger, they could have actually acquired Deron Williams and would be a powerhouse team…now, so far are a bunch of paper fucking tigers.

Just imagine Deron, Amare, Gallo, Chandler Mozgov as your starting 5 Fields, Douglas, felton and another big guy off the bench would be a complete team.

LOL…

Josh Harrellson is out six weeks after fracturing his right wrist after taking a fall late in the first overtime of the 119-114 double OT loss to the Nuggets at Madison Square Garden.

Harrellson will need surgery, and his absence is a big blow to an already paper-thin bench. Steve Novak, the 3-point shooting specialist, likely would take his place in the Knicks rotation, but that will vastly hurt their interior defense.

Harrellson also has surprised from the 3-point line as a late second-round pick.

2 of the 5 East starters in the 2010-2011 All star game and they are 6-10.

Who’d a guess that one?

Their problem (well one of their problems) is they are trying to turn Melo into a Point Forward. He’s giving it his all, but it’s just not suited to his skill set. A healthy, in-shape Baron would help but he’s not the shooter that D’Antoni typically likes from his PGs.

I’m afraid even with Melo/Amare they are stuck in the “good enough to play in the playoffs, not good enough to win a title, not bad enough to get a high draft pick” mold for quite a while. I’m not a D’Antoni fan but I don’t think any coach could make their roster into a title contender. Not enough talent outside their top 3 guys, and their top 3 aren’t quite good enough to do it on their own.

Agreed even if they get their shit together, no way are they going to be better then the Bulls or Heat.

Not enough talent on the roster, though I do believe a new coach with a different philosophy could make a difference
