NBA Lockout

pop quiz. who was the best player on the floor?
Kobe is still better than Rose, at least as of last year. I need to see more than one game this year to see if it’s still true (Kobe played well and Rose should’ve dropped 45 on Fisher/Blake though… point Kobe)
Gettnitdone wrote:
I know Rose was the man when he hit that game winner but props need to go to Luol Deng who absolutely abused Kobe within those last two minutes or so.
Deng was arguably the real hero with those two difficult defensive plays… but, that missed traveling call was pretty bad.

Anyone else watching this OKC-MEM game?

Russell Westbrook is 0/12 FG

lol - pass the ball you stupid asshole

Good job Spurs. The willy veterans tuning down the Clip hype.

I was watching that game raj. I was happy every time Westbrook threw one up but the Grizz dug themselves a hole going down by 12 with 6-7 minutes remaining. They kept it close leading into the 4th quarter but couldn’t keep up that aggressiveness. They went off at the end - a little too late unfortunately.

But did you see this?

Yeah. meh. Much ado about nothing.

I didn’t see the game or that incident, but I do think there’s something there. Remember in last years playoffs when Westbrook kept forgetting it was Durant’s team and cost OKC several games? The kid is buying into his own hype, and if something isn’t done QUICKLY there’s gonna be major problems. OKC has the potential to be a future dynasty, but I think Westbrook’s gonna fuck it up.

2 things:

 1. I think that incident is unrelated, because this was about a specific thing - He passed to an open Thabo Sefalosha who didn’t shoot, Westbrook said “shoot the fucking three”, and KD tried to calm him down, but RW wouldn’t calm down (he was 0-12 at the time and pissed). They weren’t arguing over who gets to have the ball.

 2. If you watched Durant off the ball, he was flat out NOT GETTING OPEN all of last postseason. Westbrook HAD to force bad shots at times because Brooks designs terrible plays that don’t get KD open and force something to be done with 6secs on the shot clock. People got caught up watching RW and wondering why he wasn’t passing; if you watch KD off the ball, he couldn’t shake Battier/Allen/Marion/anyone to save his mother’s life.

I agree there’s something there, it’s clear that in Russel Westbrook’s mind he is a #1 option. And he probably is on a lot of teams. If he can learn to play second fiddle to KD the Thunder can be a truly scary team, they already have the pieces.

OKC might eventually say enough is enough and deal Westbrook to the Lakers. It would probably help out the Lakers in rejuvenating their back court.

But who the fuck is Russel Westbrook to yell at another player. Last time I checked Westbrook was second to Durant on that team. If anyone has the right to get mad or yell at another player for something it should be solely Durant.

RW deserved to get bitch slapped by both Scott Brooks and Kevin Durant. I just wonder how long before it actually happens.

I read the article. I know what started it, but something like that doesn’t happen if there isn’t frustration and resentment. And, you can’t blame Brooks for Durant not getting open. Durant knows how to shake a screen, and there were SEVERAL plays where he was wide open and Westbrook forced and awful 12-15 footer after dribbling the air out of the ball. If Westbrook can pull his bead outta his ass, OKC is the future of the league. If he can’t, they’re a bunch of coulda beens.

Last night: Westbrook 16pts on 15 shots. Durant 30pts on 16 shots.

yikes.

BTW, remember how I said the problem with the Kings is that, despite their talent, they have 5 ball stoppers and can only play with 1 ball at a time? (I think I said that here anyway). Only 3 games but they are averaging a miniscule 13.3asts/game. Could be a fun stat to watch.

If Evans is their pg then they have major problems. He’s the homeless man’s Dwyane Wade without the athleticism or vision. If ya’ll remember, I am not a fan of his game at all and called that he would have a major soph slump. If he hasn’t improved his jumper considerably he’ll never be better than his rookie year.

Didn’t see the game so obviously don’t know the context, but you have to assume those are bad shots. Honestly, 15 shots isn’t too many, though I’d like to see him in the 12 range and attack more and get to the line and get easy buckets. Westbrook has one of the 3 best first steps in the league and a killer handle to go with it, but he gets tunnel vision, dances around and shoots contested 15 footers at the expense of his team. I’m tellin’ ya’ll, if something isn’t done quick there will be problems in OKC.

I haven’t watched RW this year to see if he’s improved, but, in general I agree that he takes way too many 15-footers when he can drive around virtually anyone in the league at will and get to the rack.

You know, even though we lost 16 games, I’m loving the fact they are playing so often, always something good to watch.

Back-to-back-to-back’s this year.

Lets see how Kobe and some of the older stars handle it.

So what are the chances the Atlantic division leading Raptors will be able to make the Mavs go 0-4?
