NBA Lockout

I dont really know if that would happen.

As Kobe has gotten older and had teammates that he trusted to score, we’ve seen him be more willing to pass the ball and be more of a “facilitator”… with the addition of CP3 I think Kobe would welcome the option to take some pressure off of him. (especially with the shortened season where teams play a ton of back to back games. It’d be nice to have Paul as a legit PG)

Obviously there would be certain situations where they would both be wanting the ball but I think Kobe and CP3 would play well together.

Arguably the biggest advantage the Lakers have had over the last 5 years is their ridiculous amount of height/length with Odom/Gasol/Bynum, that trade turned a major strength into a major weakness.

CP3 though is incredible when healthy.

Again, whether it made them better or worse, it was an amazingly interesting 3-team trade for anyone who loves the sport of basketball as a whole. I actually loved that deal for HOU… they could’ve afforded Nene, had a Nene/Gasol frontcourt and been an actual contender again in the West.
It’s definitely one of their biggest advantages. Having a front line that averages damn near 7 feet is playing with a loaded deck.

The funny thing is out of that 3 team trade, I honestly think the Lakers were getting the short end of the stick [no pun intended].

Exactly. If you watch a lot of Lakers games you realize Bryant doesn’t really hold the ball near as much as you’d expect, especially in comparison to other star players. That might change with this new system though.

Why would anyone ever sign in CLE to play for him?
People were asking the same thing about OKC - who the fuck would want to play in the middle of nowhere?

Build a winning team through the draft and frugal trades and big names will sign.
No, I mean because of Dan Gilbert the owner, not because of the location of the franchise.

He burned the best thing that ever happened to CLE on a fucking cross. Remember, players are not fans - they saw an owner who ran a public smear campaign against someone for choosing to sign elsewhere.

NOW he is basically saying in public that players should never have a right to choose where they play and are property of the owners.

Why would a player ever want to be his employee?
I understand what you said.

What I’m saying is people love to hype up external factors. I’ve heard similar things about players being apprehensive to play for the Mavs and owner Mark Cuban.

You’re telling me if Dan Gilbert is able to create a situation similar to what’s happening in OKC players will not sign?

Lets also not forget what Lebron did to bring about that smear campaign.

I was partly saying that just to get a rise out of WF.

It was a joke, I wasn’t serious.

Mostly.

I am way more pissed about Stern revoking this trade than I was about the lockout.

This is a PROFESSIONAL SPORTS LEAGUE. Not a goddamn public fantasy league. You can’t just go vetoing trades because other owners don’t like it.

I hope the NBAPA and the involved teams all file antitrust lawsuits. This is about the most blatant form of collusion and conflict of interest that I can personally imagine. By law the teams are all separate businesses. Yet, they are all 1/29th owners of the Hornets.
its pretty unbelievable IMO.

On ESPN Radio they’re talking about how bad this looks for the l eague and that CP3 is already working on suing the league and that all the parties involved have started the appeal process.

Stern will be royally screwing New Orleans if he sticks with this trade veto. Paul will be gone at the end of this season and the team will be left with nothing. Through the trade they were getting 3 starters, a decent back up guard and a first round pick… now they’ll get nothing and lose Paul. How does that help the small market team?
Chris Paul is still signed for 2 more seasons. He will become an UFA in 2013, they have plenty of time to trade him.
Is this true? I was pretty certain he was unrestricted this summer.
Last year is a player option. Oops

This is my whole point though - you have to look at this from an NBA player’s perspective, not the perspective of 99.9% of the population.

I’m betting a much larger percentage of players saw it as LBJ just exercising his free agent rights than you’d see in the general population.

You know Khloe or whatever the fuck her name is probably wasn’t happy her hubby was leaving LA. That whole family has connections, just sayin’…

B.Roy is retiring, I don’t know if raj has ‘broke the news’ yet LOL.

What does everyone think about Battier to the Heat? I think it’s a solid move

If Raj is Ric Bucher you must be Chris Broussard.

Fuck…

The Heat are just getting better and better. They have the best team on paper bar-none.

LOL they were the “best team on paper” last year too. Too bad there isn’t a “Best Team On Paper” Trophy. Maybe they’ll make one in their honor this year.

Damn, that’s sad. Read an interview with Bryant a couple of years ago where he said other than himself, Roy was the only guy in the league with no offensive weaknesses. On top of that, he always came across as a good dude in a populace [pro athletes] littered with assholes. Think he’d make a good coach if that’s where he wanted to go.
