I gotta be honest, I like the Thunders chance over the Heat as the NBA’s next dominant team. They have defined roles, role players who know their roles, two emerging big men in Ibaka and BJ Mullens, and three straight up ballplayers in Durant, Westbrook and Green. T will tell you that last year or the year before I said that if the Thunder can keep their team together, they can do big things. Their play this past season only solidifies my thoughts. I think it’ll take 2 years before we really see it, but save injuries or someone leaving, watch out.
I hope you’re right. I’d much rather the Lakers eventually cede the thrown to the Thunder than the f’in heat. ;0
uhh no

Traitor! Fine then, go back to the Miami Heat thread.

:'(
hahahah that thread is for casual sports fans… people who dont really know what they’re talking about. I had to stop by and give my expert opinion but now im back!

Let the record also show that I called Fisher staying in LA… Tax free or not he wasnt going to Miami

.greg.

Wow! The Heat resigned Haslem… he took a contract for $12 million when he had offers from other teams for $25 million!!! Wow! Thats pretty crazy.

I still think if that Portland team can have a string of good health that they will be a force as well. That is a much bigger if for them though seeing that Oden just seems to be falling apart, what a shame that is =/.

There really is a lot of good young talent collected around this league, maybe the next couple years are still extremely top heavy but it shouldn’t be too long before there is a ton of competition again.
I’ll co-sign on that. But, like you said I gotta see 'em healthy. And, trading Martell Webster may not seem like much, but I think it hurts 'em a bit. Also, Jerryd Bayless has absurd potential if he can ever get the time. He’s got maybe the fastest first step in the league. He just blows by guys. If they can stay healthy I think them and OKC duke it out for top dog, with OKC coming out on top more often than not.

Agreed. Everyone talking abut James or Wade leaving a few mil on the table need to look at this. This guy just gave up an oppertunity to have his salary doubled to win. Who else would/has done that? Pretty admirable. Even so, you have to think they’re gonna compensate him somehow.

So Haslem signed a long term deal for less and money and is still coming off the bench?

BREAKING NEWS: Derek Fisher turns down MIA offer, will return to LAL.

^^I already broke that shit two hours ago son! You better step up your game!!!

he took less than half of what he could have and signed his entire contract for less than what wade, bosh and James will each make in one single season. Thats putting winning first not signing for 14 mil a year instead of 16.

No I dont think he’ll be coming off the bench since they dont even have more than 5 guys signed. Right now he’s starting and playing every single minute of the season lol

Oh snap, my bad, just saw it.

^^hahahaha  just keeping you on your toes tmoney

also do you think that the OKC Thunder sounds like a WNBA teams name? I mean lets be honest. Thats kinda weak sauce. I know Oklahoma has lots of thunder storms and shit but the thunder? Really?

.greg.

NEWS: Tyson Chandler traded to Toronto in PHX/TOR/CHA deal.

Also, Boris Diaw may be involved in trade to TOR for Jose Calderon.

Reggie Evans could be traded to CHA in the deal.

NEW: Magic agree to deal with FA Quentin Richardson.

TRADE RUMOR: IND to send Troy Murphy and Brandon Rush to DET for Rip Hamilton, Kwame Brown and Austin Daye.

Just rumor, nothing set in stone yet.

Three stories in four minutes gregron, take that hahaha.

No I feel ya man. I wasn’t too excited about the name either or the colors at first, but they grew on me.

The original name choices were the Bison, Oilers, Thunder and Outlaws (which was my personal favorite. That would have been tough to be called the Outlaws, but it was turned down because of the gangsta connotation to it).

No offense but so did any serious Lakers fan (including me earlier on this thread); did any real fan even sweat the Miami meetig whatsoever? No way. The Lakers organization would have a mutiny on it’s hands if they really undercutted Fisher’s value that much to a point that he felt like he had to sign with another team.

I heard he signed a 3 year deal with the 3rd year as a player option. Now he can retire as a Laker just as it should be with DFish.

If the team were going to be called the Outlaws, this was the proposed logo.

Pretty sweet if you ask me.

Damn…I can’t believe we’re shedding Calderon. He’s a great, underrated PG. The only issue is that he is getting paid approximately $10 million/year for the next few years, but we’re not short on money after trading Bosh for nothing. Calderon sort of got worse last year but maybe he was just having an off year.

So far it looks like Colangelo getting us a lot of former Suns players [Diaw was in Phoenix before Charlotte], players that were brought to the Suns under Colangelo. Please don’t tell me this guy’s out of ideas and he’s retreading. Fuck.

Looks like we’re gonna be a lottery team for sure now. Our two best players are gone, and I don’t know if Diaw or Barbosa will do well here. We are weak as far as guards go.

Thunder’s not bad in the grand scheme of things, though. It’s just more noticeable since it’s a new name. Better than Magic, Wizards, Nets, and or course, Knickerbockers, lol. But Outlaws would have been the best.
