All the ‘talking heads’ seem to think it’s going to be Bosh/Wade in Miami, and LBJ sticks it out for a 3 year contract in Cleveland to see how things go with a new coach(I really like the Scott hire btw, I was puzzled when he got fired in NO in the first place).

Where’d Rudy Gay go?
Still Memphis, but his max deal is a different kind than one for Wade or LBJ. His is for 82 mill over 5 years I believe (not entirely sure though).
Yes, exactly. It was more of a max deal commitment to keep Rudy in Memphis, as opposed to the other guys who are UFA’s and shopping teams.
Melo is doing the same thing with Denver, or at least they are in talks about it (terms I believe are 3 yrs/$60M) so that will take him off the FA market next summer.

I hope he stays in Cleveland, and I sort of expected him to stay before all of the wild rumours started.
Just out of curiosity, if he leaves do you think it’s safe to say he`ll be the most hated athlete in Cleveland? Or does that only apply if he goes to the Bulls?
If Bosh the Raps leaves I think he’ll still be respected in TO, since he nevergave up while he was here and his departures were not nearly as acrimonious as the ones of VC,or T-Mac. Of course I can’t tell what consensus will be fore sure.

I think it’ll be mixed feelings on LeBron. Fans will cheer for what he did for the team, fans will boo him for leaving the team. As for Bosh, I agree with LD that he will be respected. He never bad mouthed the team, and did a lot of work for the community.
The thing with LBJ (and Wade for that matter) is (please correct me if I’m wrong) but they both signed three-year deals in summer 2007 instead of traditional 4-5 year deals to see what would play out in the future. I don’t see LBJ re-signing another three-year deal. If he does that, then that doesn’t show any commitment to the Cavs. He’ll do that and wait til summer 2013 to test the waters again. Shows no long-term loyalty.

It would depend on where he went. If he goes to Chicago, or just sells out for the cash and cash only and heads to NY or the Clippers(even that I could almost see, they have some really good young talent, but it probably won’t come together for a few more years), he’ll be the 2nd most hated man in NE Ohio(#1 spot will forever be reserved for Art Modell packing up shop and taking the Browns away).
If he forms up that dream team in Miami I think there’s just too many people here that ‘grew up’ with him(for example, I am 1 year younger and lived very close) that will root for him regardless of the jersey he has on because he represents this area.

From their perspectives though(especially LBJ), why should he show long term loyalty right now? The team just fired their coach and GM, if he sticks with the team it’s almost certainly because he is interested in seeing how that works out, but doesn’t want to wait until he’s past his prime to correct an error in judgement(if that’s what it ends up being).

Yeah, the Vince and T-Mac episodes ended on harsh notes. Bosh on the other hand will leave in a friendly manner, and in a sign and trade that could leave the Raptors in an okay position.
Doesn’t Bosh’s girl have beef with 'Bron? Remember that one game where that bitch was mouthing off LeBron and he exploded for a huge quarter. Reminiscent of Miller and Spike lol.

Point taken. I think the Cavs franchise overall needs help. At least D-Wade has Pat Riley.

Hey at least that’s better than Tiger’s woman burning him for $750M.
Bosh on his way to speak with NJN as we speak (10p EST).
You guys realize that the biggest free agent is off the market now? That’s right; Phil Jackson! Thank God he’s coming back! All this free agent stuff will be a distant memory soon when the Lakers are threepeating…

By the way, I have been thinking for like a week now that Bosh will not join up with Lebron or Wade. He’s been bristling to any reporter’s suggesting that he’s waiting on any of these other super star’s decisions. He’ll probably end up in Houston and Wade and Lebron will end up either on the same teams they’re on right now (most likely) or they will end up on different teams but not on the same team together. I think Wade be most willing to share the spotlight but not Bosh or Lebron. It all comes down to egos again (and money).

You think Lebron is going to go to the Nets where he is going to play in Newark, NJ aka the World’s armpit for 2-3 more years? And a decent core? They won like 3 games last year!
I think it’s either the Knicks, or he stays in Cleveland. Don’t forget that Cleveland has Shaq’s expiring contract coming off the books, so they could potentially add a guy like Johnson or Boozer.
I think there’s no way Lebron will be on the same team as Wade. I think he has too big of an ego and wants to be the Man, not have any question about who the #1 guy is. I think he would play with Johnson or Bosh, because they would obviously defer to him. But not Wade. Plus, as good as both of them are, I don’t think they would mesh well together. They are too similar in that they both dominate the ball and want to drive to the basket. Johnson would play fine with either of them (although not as well with Wade since they are both better at the 2), because he can function as a kick-out shooter, and Bosh would play well since he’s a forward. I can’t see Lebron and Wade on the same team though.
One thing I’ve also heard is that San Antonio might deal Tony Parker. He would be an expiring contract (although not a max deal) and George Hill is a more than adequate replacement. Supposedly Dantoni wants him in NY.
P.S. How nasty would the Celts be if they hadn’t traded Joe Johnson for Tony Delk and Rodney Rogers…

Playing in Newark is better than playing in Cleveland. At least Newark is close to NYC.
I’m interested to see if Boozer would actually be welcomed back in Cleveland after the whole free agency fiasco.
Completely agree on LBJ/Wade on the same team, it just wouldn’t work. Two superstars in their prime wouldn’t mesh together well, and I don’t think either guy would concede to the other on being the star.
Interesting re: Tony Parker. George Hill really stepped it up this year. Seems like Parker wouldn’t want to leave San Antonio, but I’m just speculating.

Is losing in Newark better than WINNING in Cleveland or Chicago? I don’t see LBJ to the Heat because LBJ will want to avoid the perception that he “needed” Wade to win(Shaq). I certainly don’t see Bosh to NY or NJ because he says he won’t play center. Chicago and Cleveland have centers… Miami, NY, and NJ don’t.
Dirk stays… he just wants a new deal before the union renegotiates the CBA, same as Pierce. Joe Johnson stays in ATL because they’re the only ones crazy enough to offer him $20 mil a year… the guy is 2nd tier in this class of free agents.
Yahoo has a full list of free agents by position and it’s immense. There are a ton of quality players out there beyond the big 5 or 6 everyone’s talking about. Some team with a good GM is going to be able to take advantage of the hysteria and build a team that is very solid and has good depth this off-season… I’m looking for Detroit to do that since Dumars has used that strategy in the past and it seems none of his moves have put the Pistons in a position to land one of the big names they had hoped for.
Spurs need to do something now that Jefferson is going. That experiment didnt work. They already have the steal of the draft in Anderson and they have a chance to pick up some of those other good players available. I still think the Spurs big 3 has one more run in them.
With Phil Jackson back in LA the Lakers are definitely the favorites to represent the west in a fourth straight finals appearance… It all just depends on who does the best in the free agent market in the east to see who they’ll be playing next year.

Also why are people so hyped on Joe Johnson anyway? Dude is not a max contract guy. He shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same setance as real max conact guys like Kobe, LBJ, D Wade, Melo, Durant, Duncan ect… Hell even Dirk! ![]()
