NBA FINALS 2011

I’m almost game to bank on a 60 win 2011/12 season with some subtle changes.

I’m interested to see what happens with the D Howard situation … whether or not they’ll try and bank in on it (hope they don’t) but I don’t see it as a no-option especially if Orlando doesn’t make a move to get a better roster for Dwight.
I’ll guarantee a 60+ win season for them although I’ll be pulling for the Knicks whenever they play them. They won 58 games last year without even knowing how to play together and blowing a bunch of final minute games (ala finals).

If Lebron could sidestep his ego for a minute and realize his game needs some work (especially low post and moving without the ball), then he might be able to redeem himself. His comments and not owning up to those terrible 4th quarters makes me doubt it though (as WhiteFlash said earlier.).

LMAO WTF randman, you can’t just disappear then wait to see if the Heat lose and come back.

Just answer me this… were you trolling the whole time or were you really AWOL?

You guys hear about Shaq?

What the fuck?
Prosecutors stress that “they have no evidence that a sex tape exists and said O’Neal is not involved in the case.” The Times reported.
Yeah some unrelated gangsters just randomly cared a whole lot that a Shaq’s sex tape never make it out. TOTALLY plausible they randomly found out about the tape and decided to give a shit and risk criminal charges for someone who was not involved with them.

My rapid post count increase is going to go down significantly without the bball threads.
Huh? did you miss the part where the PROSECUTORS (not the defending attorney) said that they have no evidence that a sex tape even exists?

I feel ya on the post count thing. I’ve racked up QUITE a few posts in the NBA/NFL threads (not that i care) but now I’m not going to have much to chat about :(
I did miss that part… I guess I just assumed they wouldn’t be randomly prosecuting someone if they didn’t have SOMETHING. Bad assumption.

I’m guessing this off-season isn’t going to be close to as good as the last one, especially with the lockout looming. So I don’t even think we’ll have a NBA Off-Season thread this year.

I’ll just keep the post count up the old fashioned way, by posting in gregron’s uber-popular training log.
greg is popular somewhere? My world is upside down.

Popular yes, but I didn’t say liked :D.

Most of the outside posts in his log are death threats from what I’ve noticed.

Damnit Larry, I wanted greg’s creepy mug to be the last post on this thread.

lol

So apparently the Raps are about to hire the Mavs defensive coordinator as their coach.

Is the new trend in the NBA? Hire a winning teams defensive coordinator?

It probably should have said finals

There’s a rumour floating around suggesting the TWolves are going to trade Love for Gasol. Pretty interesting if it happens.

Pau or Marc? Either one is bad for the respective teams they are on now. If you’re referring to Pau Gasol, I doubt Laker management would pull such a stupid move. Where will the Laker points come from if they trade Gasol? Kobe is getting old and Love won’t produce anything offensively. At the end of the day you’re trading your second best player for a guy that has never won.

Keep in mind Mike Brown is running the show down in LA now and we know he likes the fundamentals; D and rebounding and Love is good in those categories. Really though, bad move if it goes down (would be plus for T-Wolves and Pau might want to go b/ they have Rubio).

anyone have thoughts on the most recent Lakers rumor…

Minnesota taking Derrick Williams with the number 2 pick then trading him and Kevin Love to the Lakers for Pau Gasol?

I think it would be AWESOME! lol

what do you guys think?

Pretty sure I don’t like it. Yes Gasol had a brutal postseason, but he’s still made 2nd team All-NBA this year. Nevermind his consistent production during those three previous deep playoff runs.

And when LAL talks about wanting/needing to get younger, that’s almost entirely about backcourt personnel.

I would be totally fine if we made that trade (even though Minnesota said today that it won’t happen)

I’d much rather see them package Bynum and Lamar and deal for Dwight Howard

Here’s a friend of mine’s reaction to that rumor:

SO we trade our second option power forward for a shorter, unathletic power forward who can’t create his own shot and is even worse than Pau on defense. And then we pick up yet another front court player who is a tweener power forward in a small forward body.

We become worse on offense and defense and don’t address any of our needs of Slashing/Shooting/Point guard

Stupid

Derrick Williams is 100% an athletic slasher. And you don’t need a stud PG running the triangle offense. Really all he needs to be able to do is pass the ball to Kobe and play defense lol. And Kevin Love isn’t as good offensively as Pau, but he has a decent little post game and more importantly hes very young.

I also think Laker fans are going to be disappointed if they end up moving Bynum and Odom for Dwight. He is absolutely an upgrade over Bynum, but you could argue that Bynum is the 2nd best center in the league. Without Odom, who is going to score off the bench? Lakers bench have proven they are absolute garbage, and this season’s result shows that a deep, solid team will beat a top heavy team that was gutted to get a few superstars.

Remember this team won it all the previous 2 seasons, you shouldn’t overreact yet.

Yessir I agree, I mean Love is overrated as is. All the hype he’s been getting evolved because of his historic double double streak and rebounding talent. Don’t miscontrue that as me saying he’s a bad player, he’s probably just below that All-Star level but not quite to Pau’s standard. It’s amazing how quickly these Laker fans turn their back on their players. How do you bad mouthing a guy who is the reason you have any banners up in Staples Center after Shaq - oh yeah, he had one bad off-season. Of course Kobe plays no part in this at all…

Bottom line, the whole Laker team needs a remodelling. They’re old, unmotivated and boring. In my opinion this laker team isn’t living off their own play, they’re riding the Laker brand created by the true, bad-ass Laker teams of old.

So apparently there’s a rumour Tony Parker might be coming to the Raps for a draft pick.

LOL - not gonna happen
