Think I’d take Thompson over anyone else at the 2 right now. Jimmy Butler would be my backup.

I think any doubts about not trading Thompson in a deal for Love have been stomped LOL.

I’ve always thought Love was a decent player who got those gaudy stats mostly from being the only competent player who also was willing to play his heart out. What do you think of Love’s talent level?

Wrt Kobe, running Shaq out of town just because Kobe wanted to be the main man showed how selfish he ultimately was/is. Granted, he did get what he wanted most -to prove he could get the ring w/o Shaq; but he did need Pau Gasol to do it.

“I know i cant play, but put me back in anyways” is super selfish.

Klove cant jump over a phone book and is a glorified matt bonnor. He gets his shot blocked anytime he’s near the rim. I understand you had to make the trade, but Wiggens would have been a much better fit.

Think he thought he could play, or at least wanted to see. As soon as it was evident he was hampered, he left.

Think you’re being way harsh on Love. He’s in a new system with two ball dominant players and has a coach who doesn’t know how to use him. Bosh warned of the James adjustment, and James and Irving haven’t adjusted to each other.

Lol

James and Irving are playing very well with each other. JR smith is killing it. Mosgov is playing very well. Not sure on Shump yet.

I dont see anything dynamic about Love’s game. He has a jump hook which gets blocked, he can shoot wide open 3’s, and plays no defense. He’s a good passer but teams are looking for that now and are sprinting back on d.

Bosh did struggle, but he could also defend his position and has some athletic ability.

I bet Ibaka is going to maul Klove today. Or lebron will have to pick him up like he did blake griffen. (Klove had no chance at defending another premier power forward)

Love has historically dominated Griffin, and didn’t Love miss their last matchup? Man, you don’t average 26 and 14 on accident. Love can REALLY play. The Cavs knew exactly what they were getting. It’s not as easy as rolling the ball out and letting 'em play. You’ve gotta keep everyone happy, and Blatt’s not using him right. He had several monster games when James was out, right? Maybe Bosh was on to something.

Bummed about Bryant’s shoulder, wish it had happened after the All-Star Game.

Even more bummed about the Brandon Jennings injury.

Love’s game is shooting wide open 3’s, and putting up a weak jump hook. He has no dribble drive ability, no jumping ability, and plays 0 defense. You could pick up any random D league player to do that.

Haha, ok.

(Kevin Love highlight)

He’s a good passer, but what am i missing? Do you watch him play every night?

Just speaking for myself here but ‘high hoop-IQ’ guys are rare, in general. And with bigs, it’s even rarer.

Yes, Love has his shortcomings (mostly defense) but a good measure of his skill/talent level is that he’s always included on Olympic squads.

I remember some guys here wondering if Harden would be any good in HOU. And I’ll use the same argument for Love now that I used for Harden then: when you’re consistently part of Team USA, you’re top-20 in entire league period.

Not only this, but all of Aggv’s critiques are the same things people said about Bosh (minus the D) when he joined James in Miami. Love can shoot, handle, post over either shoulder and get his own shot. He’s having a hard time in Cleveland’cause - just like Bosh - they’re misusing him and forcing him to be a 17-20 foot jump shooter. That’s a big part of his game, but it works because he can put you on his hip and give you buckets. Taking that away makes his one dimension left less valuable.

Also, Harden is horribly overrated.

I’ve heard this from others but I never bother to correct em.

Yes it can be annoying at times (often?) but the reality is that Harden’s game is ideally suited to the current rulebook and offensive trends.

Credit to Kirk Goldsberry for plenty of evidence for his argument - » The Future of Basketball Is Here, and It Looks a Lot Like James Harden

C’mon Chilly. I’m from Houston, you know I’ve already read that.

He takes a ton of low percentage shots, plays terrible defense (no matter what the “experts” say), is more interested in fucking hookers than winning and routinely gets his ass handed to him by other big time two guards (Butler, Thompson, etc…). The Rockets aren’t gonna win with him and Howard as their leads. Just ain’t gonna happen.

Harden overrated
Love is underrated?

ok sure

Where did I write that Love is underrated? He’s not necessarily underrated, but he’s most certainly not overrated. The guy’s a perennial All-Star with THE ONLY 30-30 game of the modern era. Calling him a glorified Matt Bonner is silly.

His past stats speak for themselves, and im curious how he’ll be on the lakers next year. But this year, he is a glorified red mamba. You’re either not watching, or dont know basketball if you think Klove is a max player all-star this year.

Again, where did I say he’s a max player? He’s averaging 18 and 10. Those are damn solid numbers. If they’d use him right he’d be at 22 and 12, and they’d be winning. That’d cut into James and Irving’s stats though, so that’s not happening.
