As a Lakers fan, I would HATE to see us sign Melo. Great pick up for a team without a scorer or a star, but we’ve got one of those. Kobe takes plenty of “bad shots”, but hits plenty of em too, so we can live with it. Melo AND Kobe? Our FG% would be ridiculous. Both are “give me the ball and watch me work” types, but Kobe has at least shown a great ability to pass the ball and set up his teammates.
People are talking about signing LeBron, but I don’t see why he would leave Miami, unless that whole ship falls apart. Most of the potential big name FAs have good reasons to stick with their current teams, so as excited as I am for 2014, I don’t see the Lakers doing crazy stuff like picking up LeBron or Dirk.
Plus, there is no way in hell Kobe would approve of tanking. ESPECIALLY considering he’s nearing the end of his career, and wants to win NOW. Not to mention, tanking doesn’t guarantee a damn thing other than not winning a championship.
