I’m watching this Bulls game right now and if I was a fan I would be so pissed of at Derrick Rose. This series would be a lot easier for Chicago with him. Rose’s injury happened about a year ago and still isn’t back. To me he is being a huge pussy. He dominates in practice and that is full contact, so I do not get why he can’t come back. He was cleared a couple of months ago… If I was a fan of DRose my love for him would be fading. All this talk about he should come back when he feels ready is nonsense. Anyways, just thought I would put this out here for discussion.

P.S. I am not a fan of DRose, I think he shoots too much. He is Westbrook with not as good jumper and more out of control than Westbrook at times.
Did you just basically say he is a poor man’s westbrook?

I never thought id see the day someone said Rose was more OC than Westbrook…

And im a Chicago native, and a Rose fan, and im glad hes sitting this one out.

I dont quite get your beef.
Haha, that is exactly what I said. Westbrook has a better jumper, is definitely quicker, and I would give the bball IQ to Rose. I don’t have a beef but I just think he is overrated. And to the dude who said he is the fifth best player in the league when healthy, please stop with that nonsense. He barely makes the top ten in my eyes.
A year with no D-Rose on the court has clearly fucked with your eyes.
So you’re telling me that DRose is a top 5 player??? Please say it isn’t so…
Realistically, I think there’s an incredible logjam after Lebron/Durant right now. I guess you could have Rose at the bottom of that logjam(IMO players like D-Will, Aldridge) which might even put him out of the top10, but the last time we saw a healthy Rose he was the MVP, which makes me think he’s closer to the top of it fighting for the #3-5 spots.

I understand what you’re saying about the log jam thing but still. Here is a list of players in no particular order who are above Rose.

LBJ
Durant
Kobe
D Will
CP3
Tony Parker
Melo
Westbrook
Rondo
D Wade
Kyrie

That’s just a few and he’s not even top ten. I know people probably think I’m crazy putting Kyrie there but the dude is a complete package and the sky is the limit for him being it his second year. DRose isn’t close to being top 5.

I have him pegged at number 5 in the league too. To say he isnt at least top 10 is laughable.

Until Rose comes back, its difficult to say who the best PG in the NBA is. But as he left things last year, its Rose. Westbrook is arguably the best right now, but he cant carry a team the way Rose can, if you took Durant away, Westbrook would suffer.

D Wade, Kyrie, Rondo, Parker, D Will…just no. If Rose returns and plays the way he did when he won the MVP, i’d argue that Westbook and CPIII are still behind him.

In my opinion there is a log jam after the top 5 that is pretty fuckin huge, but the top 5 is (again, assuming Rose returns to form):

Lebron
Durant
Kobe
Melo
Rose

CPIII gets my vote for 6th, Westbrook for 7th. But its tough. I think if we’re looking at the stats, its westbrook, but if he didnt have Durant on his team i think his stats would suffer significantly, whereas i think guys like CPIII and Rose are capable of working with whatevers given to them and still playing at the same level.

Great clutch shot. Not sure why Conley didn’t move in sooner to put some added pressure on CP3. Could have forced a pass or made Paul adjust his shot.
Yeah Conley is kicking himself for not helping before it was too late. He was protecting the pass to the wing for an open 3. On initial observation it looks like CP3 was in the lane pretty late, I’m not sure if he could have dished it out in time.

Again, no way Rose is top 5. I am sorry, that is ridiculous to put him there. Rondo is above him and there is no doubt about that. He has a ring and was the leader of that offense when they won it. CP3 is also above him, there’s no question. Parker, too, how many rings does he have and when he was healthy this year he was killing it. I realize this is a matter of opinion but 9 out of 10 times, rose isn’t that highly ranked. I’d would love to hear a NBA analyst on this. I think your liking of rose is clouding your brain, sir…

My liking of Rose is a result of his skill on the court.

I can understand someone wanting to make an argument for Paul. Rondo and Parker though? Absolutely not.

And 9/10 times im sure you will find Rose very highly ranked on most people’s lists. Its statements like that that make me think you have a strong bias against him.

Hell, i cant fuckin stand Lebron, and i am just as big (or bigger) of a fan of Kobe and KD as i am of Rose, but as things stand right now, you wont see me try to argue that either one is better than LBJ.

Next season, when all these great PG’s are playing together and in good health, if CPIII or westbrook truly plays at a level that is beyond Derrick Rose, i’ll acknowledge it, but right now i think its debatable at best.

Yup you guys are right.

I like Rose, but he is overrated. Suspect jumper, too shot happy, shitty man D, the list goes on. He also shouldn’t have won MVP. As much as I think he’s douche, Westbrook is better. If they were to switch teams Westbrooks’ numbers would be off the charts. I’d say Rose is a top 3 pg (he’s certainly better than Rondo), but he’s not a top 10 player. Top 15 is more realistic.

I agree he’s overrated BUT he also plays with a bunch of offensive nobodies.

While his shot selection can at times be suspect, he also has to basically do EVERYTHING on offense for that team.

Haha, he’s not better than Rondo… Yes DRose has a better jumper but Rondo constantly drops dimes, get to the rim and finishes. His jumper is getting a lot better too. Oh yeah, he has a ring. I don’t care if he had Paul Pierce and Garnett and Ray Allen, Rondo led that offense. I guess we’ll just all have to agree to disagree.

Thats sort of what i was saying about Westbrook. He is made even more dangerous by the fact that the defense always has to worry about the even bigger threat of Kevin Durant, not to mention guys like Ibaka and Martin who are solid scorers.

This is a luxury Rose has never had. Theres no comparing Deng on offense with the guys Westbrook gets to work with.

Ha, thanks, I honestly didn’t even notice until you pointed it out.

CP3 > Westbrooke/D.Will > healthy D.Rose > Rondo

Kyrie needs another solid year, and maybe a game or 2 on national TV to be in that discussion. He’s already a better shooter than anyone listed above.

Westy’s also moved up the ranks for me

His athleticism and physicality and never missing any games, freak of nature

I’d agree with this, but put Irving ahead of Rondo. Rondo playing with three (now two) future HOF’ers in a system that plays to his/their strengths has made him look better than he is. Guy can’t a wide open jumper, let alone contested one, to save his life. And, the only reason he scores going to the rack is the D plays him for pass. He works in that system, but take away everybody else and Rondo gets exposed.

Agreed. He’s a bigger, faster more athletic Rose with a better jumper. His first step and ability to finish over/through defenders is bananas.
