Does anyone actually care about he first round of playoffs is a better question.
The NBA/TV networks sure seem to think so; they draw this shit out for like 2 and a half weeks.
Fans of teams on the bubble do. It’s only sniff of playoffs they get. If the Raps were the 8th seed I’d still be dying to watch even if it was 4 straight blowout games by the Heat.

I think the Leafs have a better chance at the cup this year than the raptors getting in the playoffs.
And of course sternTV pushes the fuck out of the playoffs. The first round seriously needs to be a 5 game series.
Haven’t crunched the numbers yet but first round predictions for me:
MIA <<< obvious
NYK <<< no Rondo = no chance
IND <<< will probably come down to defense
BKN <<< contingent on Bulls health and offensive consistency, neither of which I have any faith in.
OKC <<< OKC, much deeper and more experienced unit. Far too much offensive load will be on Harden so OKC in 5 with ease
SAS <<< if an upset occurs it may be here, but with Kobe out I don’t give them much hope
DEN <<< no way the Warriors are beating the Nuggets with home court advantage
LAC <<< Going to be close and will go to 7 games
Only series I’m looking forward to watching are OKC/HOU, CHI/BKN and LAC/MEM
Are you serious with “does anyone actually care about the first round?” The first round usually has some of the closest and most competitive series in the entire playoffs. It’s also where there’s the greater chance of upsets, in terms of the number of match-ups and because underdogs come out with something to prove, especially the teams with limited playoff exposure.
I thought we all watched NBA basketball 'cuse we loved the game?

I completely disagree. That’s not to say there are never any close series or fun/entertaining ones, but the first round is pretty much the only round where horribly lopsided series play out(usually).
My only complaint about the first round is how drawn out it is. I know they do it to fit more of the games on TV at watchable times/channels, but it drags on forever =[

The more NBA basketball i get to watch, the better.

I do love the game (playing in particularly), however unless miami gets down in a series there is really no point to watching any of the eastern conference playoff games cause we all knew in November it was the heat, and everybody else. I am rooting for the knicks to make a run, just cause that will give us some more time before the media (espin) inundates us with minute by minute coverage of what’s going on with the sorry ass jets.
I’ll probably watch some of the western conference games since that division is competitive, but it’s OKC’s to lose. The clips v. grizz series could be interesting, and same with the golden state v denver.

Back when D Granger had just returned, I took IND at 10-1 to win the east.
And after watching CP refuse to lose a couple mid-season games, I figured LAC at 8-1 to win the west was also good/decent value.
Needless to say, I’m kinda hating both of those “value plays” right now…

I thought with D Rose out, the pacers were the only team in the east with a chance. Granger really gets up and plays out of his mind against lebald, even back in the Cleveland days i remember those were hard games to win. With him out, unless hibbert realizes he’s 7’2’ and can dominate in the paint against the heat and then proceeds to have an out of body experience there is nobody who is taking down the heat in the east. run on sentence
