I have never really had a “Tan” per se in my entire life. I’ve noticed my skin tends to turn red(not burns) instead of brown. As a result I try to avoid the sun (hence the very pale skin tone).
Should I even bother with tanning or will that make me look worse(redder)?
Or does the skin of poor tanners gradually go from red to brown?
Is their anyone else out there who is naturally “very pale” and has tanned?
If so, could you please post some before and after pics.
While I do not have that problem, have you ever considered those places that do the automated spray-on tan? You get a fairly even tan without any skin damage issues. Supposed to last 7 days or so.
Heck, I saw the title and I thought maybe it was Rainjack picking on me or something.
I wouldn’t worry about what color you turn when you tan, as long as you are only getting reasonable amounts of sunshine at a time, what can you do about it?
Don’t worry about it. I’m pale too. People with our skin are more likely to skn cancers if we tan.
If you really want to be brown, try spending 10mins a day in direct sunlight or grab a spray on tan. It will prb look pretty fake with your natural conplexion.
I personally have embraced my pastiness. It’s who I am and I don’t want cancer later in life so it’s who I’m gonna stay.
Simply put, unless you are the whitest of the white, you can probably tan decently. I, too, am a card carrying member of the fair-ivory complexion society (primarily Russian and Danish ancestry), and I have a naturally pink pigmentation to my skin, tanned or pasty.
I’m not going to argue the benefits and consequences of gamma ray exposure. I work with radioactive safety protocols each day, and the last thing I want is to divulge into any sort of banter concerning those things.
I’m going to post a couple of old photos (chronology doesn’t matter much with skin color) to show tanning capacity. The first is with very minimal UV exposure (winter months, no tanning), and the second is with the aid of artificial sunlight.
Winter, sometime around 2000. I know it doesn’t show much skin, but I really hate having my picture taken, so this is my only whitey-white photo that I have on my C-drive.
Sometime around '02. This is about as dark as I get, but it is certainly a substantial deviation from the above photo.
[Edited to change date. I actually have no idea when this was taken. I thought it was a test photo when I first got my digital camera, but then I saw the T-Mag wallpaper on my computer, which would have been later. Bah! It doesn’t even matter! The point is that white guys can tan, too.]
It helps to have some ethnicity in you. My dad is mainly german, swedish, and British and he just burns. My mom is german but has some more color in her due to various turkish invasions etc.
