natural limits first?

Steroids are pretty serious business and reaching your natural limits (or close to) will mean that you have your diet, training, and recovery in order. In other words, you know what you’re doing.

In my experience, people that resort to steroids before reaching their natural limits tend to not make that great of gains with steroids because they don’t know how to train naturally (steroids amplify whatever results you would get naturally, and if you can’t get results naturally steroids are not going to be your magic bullet.)

Another thing I’ve seen is that these people lose gains very quickly (and easily) when coming off of steroids.

You wouldn’t build a house without first building a foundation, would you?

Training naturally for years also helps to build a more aesthetically balanced physique, it gives muscle maturity, and quality, and gives ample time to strengthen your tendons, ligaments, bones and joints.

Warhorse is right. You want to max out your own potential before hitting any gear. Then, when the time is right, the gains you make will be much more solid and you are less likely to lose as much when going off.
Get your body used to handling heavy weights so your tendons and ligaments can get up to speed naturally. Nothing is worse than going into the AAS game prematurely, having your poundages increase at a dramatic rate, only to get injured due to weak tendons and ligaments. It takes consistent effort with the heavy stuff to get them up to speed.
